I think that if there was a god his presense would be so bleedingly obvious that there wouldn't be an issue of people not putting faith in him or leaving him. I think that the basis of faith should rest on trusting that god is good not that he exists. What good is free will if when you use it you're punished by death? This like everything else is just an empty threat to keep you in your seat. Why would a GOD need to act this way?

Is this Bible warning a valid one?
by scout575 inat hebrews 10: 26,27 the bible warns those who would consider leaving christianity: "for if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful looking for of judgement and a fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.
" is the bible trustworthy in saying that those who leave christianity are certain to experience a dread of judgement by god?

I have noticed other changes as well. "I feel it in my bones." Hard to describe, people are not as commited. They don't talk about hebrew or greek words in the watchtower anymore. (i remember back 5 years ago EVERY lesson had an explanation of what some word meant in hebrew or greek.) The last circut assembly i went to there was 1 baptised. And everyone knew him, the speaker who was giving the baptism talk even mentioned him by name in the part.. (IE you know this means that you can't do this now right, -insert name-?) And now 6 months later he is already on reproof. Everyone seems tired. If you look in the back during the meeting there are always three or four brothers standing in the back room trying to stay awake. Answers are canned. It has shrunk from 10 little kids with their hands up at every question to one or two. (though number of kids hasn't decreased most of them just color). I don't know, no one seems happy.

Is it reasonable for Christians to believe in 'aliens' ?
by Franz inby "aliens" let's assume beings capable of making moral choices, having intellect, emotion, and a will (angels, who are extra-terrestrials, also fit into this category, but this answer will deal with three-dimensional, physical beings).
i'll briefly address the question of algae or even dog or cat-like animals later.
but first, a few scientific facts:

Is spiritual compatibility important?
by serendipity inhow important is/was spirituality to you when considering a person as a husband/wife?
did you expect the person to have similar spiritual beliefs and goals?
if s/he didn't have similar beliefs, was it important to be able to discuss spirituality respectfully ?

Religious leanings can change as you grow older. (like appearance and other things) I think communication is more important.

Studying the WT
by startingover inmy loyal dub wife is careful not to flaunt her jw activities in front of me.
whenever she prepares a talk or does any studying, it is at a time when i'm not around.
she always leaves for the meetings with a smile, so she does not try to guilt me in any way.. yesterday i came home unexpectedly and she was studying her wt for the afternoon meeting.

"Ultimately, unanimity is impossible. It is brittle where unity is flexible and therefore strong. A single dissenter destroys it (so the dissenter may have to be dealt with harshly for the good of the group).
This makes me think that the society would want to curtial growth to a certian point. Because once large enough they would be unable to control the unanimity. (perhaps that is what we represent, the path of the uncontrollable) Or as the the architect in the matrix put it..
the sum of a remainder of an unbalanced equation inherent to the programming of "the watchtower". You are the eventuality of an anomaly, which despite "the GB's" sincerest efforts we have been unable to eliminate from what is otherwise a harmony of mathematical precision.

Kingdom Melodies Mental Block
by Nosferatu inokay, there's what... 225 kingdom melodies (in the 1984 songbook).
when we were in, we sang these 225 songs, some of them many many times over.
yet, i can't remember the words to a complete kingdom melody.. however, i've listened to blue oyster cult's "agents of fortune" album many times, and i can remember pretty much all the lyrics.. perhaps kingdom melodies are the ultimate collection of lullabys.. you make known, that the truth izzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Division between soul and spirit
by M.J. inhebrews 4:12
for the word of god is living and active.
sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

The spirit is unattached and floats nearby. On nights with a full moon you can see it. (If you squint)
