ok so when i was leaving i wanted to check out the local Y and do some classes but i was always warned by so many people and articles in the W&A that they were tied in with churches and paying for a membership would be like giving money to other churches. i tried to look up that info from the quotes in older w&a's and couldn't even find the book that was quoted. i even grilled the people at the Y and repeatedly asked if it was or ever had been affiliated with a particular church. they denied ever having been involved with a particular church, just having christian morals in their mission statement. all this time there wasn't any biblical reason to avoid involvment in this place. another lie from the watchtower. anyone else have similar experiances regaurding the Y and jw's?

i beleive the one with the car goes like this; a pioneer woman sees a car ad for a $20.00 bmw and checks it out. the lady says you have to pay before you see the car. so she does and its a brand new beamer. she asks why she is sellig it for so little and the woman says that it was her husbands who recently left her for a younger woman and sent her divorce papers and legal instructins to sell the car and send the money she sold it for to him in another country. i have heard this story as a joke format by a non witness before so i know its bs. how about this one; there was a sister that liked a guy she met door to door. he liked her and they started to date. the elders said not to date him because he's worldly and cannot be trusted and will take her away from god. she did anyway and married him. on the wedding night he announced to her that he has leprosy. i might be mistaken but isn't leprosy like erradicated or something. ive never heard of someone who wasn't in the bible having leprosy.

being invited to a birthday party

should i go?is it not o.k to go?why should'nt i go?.where is it written in the jw religion that i should not attend my close friends party.
is this not a moral delema as oposed to a religous belief.

missing out on parties while i was a witness has been very bad for me emotionaly. im afraid to go to any party now. i think you should go to the party, it sounds like a very healthy and fun thing to do. the bible does not say you can't go to birthday parties, it just gives two examples of bad things happening in two parties. but bad things can happen at any party, even a cop party with a black male stripper.

i remember that smurfs thing. i wasn't allowed to watch the smurfs either because it supposedly meant "little devils" in some other language. also, does anyone remember HeMan cartoon? i wasn't allowed to watch that either because he always said "i have the power" and only Jehovah has the power. i missed a lot of good episodes because of that...

i heard one a coupld of years before a left. some brother for some reason was at a UN meeting and approached someone of importance and asked when the government conspiracy against religion was going to take place and the UN guy was like "how did you know that"? everyone in the cong. was getting worked up about it and were thinking that armageddon was about to come true.

when i was a jw it was frowned upon very much in the surrounding cong.
so one wanted to do it with me because the elders (who didn't know what the heck rock climbing was) didn't think that it was safe and that it was more of a thrill sport like bungy jumping.

rock climbing is a great sport. back then people didn't know what it realy was, they thought that it was like hiking up a steep mountain. now a days elders see it in rated R movies that they aren't supposed to be watching anyway and think that its dangerous and a good excuse to tell people what not to do. funny that even now there isn't a direct quote in the W&A that says rock climbing should not be done. its just the peer pressure of other witnesses that bans it. JW's suck!!!

there are plenty of good places for trout fishing is wisconsin, even in milwaukee. racine has the root river, not the cleanest river but the trout run up it to spawn every year. milwaukee has the menomonee river that goes through the city. its sort of a sewer run off that connects to lake michigan. its mostly concrete so when it rains a lot its very full and the fish go up to the surface where you can almost grap them by hand, suckers, trout, northern...
