Anyone watch a series called "Surface" on NBC?

last season this series came out that i really did not think much of, from the previews, and then i started watching it and i never missed one.

it was called surface, and it was about this group of people who came together through a common story line, to bring about the truth about an possible new life form that was coming out of the sea.

it was sci-fi all the way, and reminded me of close encounters of the third kind at time, and a little bit of the abyss.

What movie disappointed you the most, what one impressed you the most?

there have been occasion in my life, that movies have come out that i looked so forward to seeing.

then i see them, and i am so disappointed in the finish product.

then there are movies i go to see thinking, why am i wasting my time with this junk, and then i end up finding this movie to be something enjoyable and in some cases fantastic.

Does the bible tell whether Joseph(Jesus' father) was a virgin before Mary?

a co-worker of mine jokingly brought up a good point that i had never thought of before.

she said that people are always concerned about whether mary was truly a "virgin" when she married joseph but what about joseph was he a "virgin" as well?

is there a "double-standard" for men in the bible?

my husband and i went up to the new renovated park in our area.

it is over a mile around and very beautiful.. anyway, we meandered over and sat down.

within 3 minutes we were approached by jw's.

Is a sexually promiscuous life style linked to depression or insecurity?

i work in an environment at work that is a mix of adult ranging in age from 18-50. there are 300 plus people in the building, and that means you get a lot of soap operas happening from people sleeping with other people's girlfriends, boyfriends and even people cheating on their spouses with people they work with.

among the bunch is a large group of people who spend a lot of time passing themselves around, and sampling many sexual partners.

of the people who i know, i have often found that many do not seem as happy as one might think.

Nothing important.

blinders have many uses for people, religious, political... but no matter the type of blinders, blinders are dangerous.

different people have different ideas, they are not stupid or dumb if their ideas happen to be different than yours.

hurtful words can be as damaging, as damaging as a person with blinders on.

Did You Ever "Tell Off" An Elder or Circuit Overseer?

i know of very few that would "dare" tell off a co but elders were different.

having been an elder for many years, it was very easy to go back and forth with a fellow elder and basically tell him he was dumb.

Glad to see I'm not alone in speaking up.

Once called to be disciplined over interfering in a committee matter and ended up exposing one elder as a major liar and told another one there that the watchtower he pushed in my face did'nt apply in this case - and it did'nt!

Another time I made a comment to an Elder whilst visiting him at home about his copy of the book of Mormon on his bookshelf. I was a mormon before and asked him whether he thought there was a difference between having books on satanism and having the book of mormon as the society says they are satan works.

Well he did,nt say too much to me but he did to the CO who was staying at his house for the CO visit. The CO called me up and asked me to come around and proceeded to lecture me on letting people read what they will because of their conscience! Well I answered forcefully that I was under the impression that it would be unwise to read the writings of those opposed to the "truth" ,and he said that they have the book of mormon at bethel so I proceeded to tell him that this was wrong ,even hypocritical to tell us not to read apostate material and then have it on the shelf themselves! When I look back there were many things I put back in my mind but in time it all came back and motivated me to question everything the society teaches.

That CO ended up leaving the society

Changes at NY Bethel

last dec 2005, the ny bethel gave talks indicating that they had to downsize (word is mine) due to "improved technology" and that as a result of this simplification some bethel family members would be invited to serve in the united states field in various assignments at various congregations where the excellent training they have recieved at bethel could be put to use and contribute much to the preaching and disciple making work.. what do you make of this?.

i wonder how they would determine who stays or goes?.

are there any former bethel members out there who can comment on rather this would be an easy transistion for those who have to leave?.
