Witless culture is very chauvinist and the elders likely believe that if you are a woman, you are a big GOSSIP. Many women getting together will mean a LOT of gossip, of course. Some of the women may discover that the meetings are actually causing their depression, and then what! They want these get togethers stopped before any damage is done. That's what they fear the most... people comparing stories and finding out the truth. Best to keep the "friends" not too friendly.

Did you watch "Soap Operas" while you were a JW and was it a "sin" to watch
by booker-t ini remember that in the mid to late 1980's the wt wrote a condemning article on watching "soap operas".
i was wondering if the society felt it was a "sin" for jw's to watch soaps or was it just an admonishment.
my jw "pioneering" aunt used to love watching "all my children" and mentioned it to her pioneer partner.

Well, the best thing to come out of this, is now you are on to her! She has: 1) Gone to your boss about you 2) possibly messed with your things on your desk behind your back.
Now that you are aware of her unfriendly intentions towards you, you can make sure to protect yourself from her mischief. At least now, you have a pretty good idea there is a problem there so you can lock up your things and be watchful.

my mom and my sister came to visit....
by theinfamousone innow in case you're wondering why this is such a big deal and why the tears are streaming down my face right now, feel free to look at my story as i like to call it.... http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/7/101870/1758191/post.ashx#1758191.
so i think it was thursday i decided to make a huge pot of my little sisters favorite soup for her... when i went to drop it off at their house, well, they werent home, so i left it there with a note just saying hi to her and my mom, and that i miss them and love them... which is probably a shot at my dad who, well you know what i think of him.... i was quite perturbed because i did not receive a phone call or anything to acknowledge that they had received it... so i was a little worried that my father had found it and ripped up my note and thown the soup away... i know it sounds stupid, but i made the soup for my sister, and i mean, i guess it was just to show her how much she means to me... i guess i could have bought her some kind of present, but i dunno, making something seemed right at the time..... so anyways, finally today i get home from school and find a note under my door... they had both come to visit and they left me a note... well my mom wrote a quick note saying they had visited and were sorry they missed me and thanks so much for the soup and for bringing it to them and showing that i do miss them.... she wishes she had been able to see me... my sister wrote me a letter, and left it under my door as well... she wrote on the enveloppe she wanted to give it to me, but was sad she couldnt see me... she says shell call.... this wouldnt be such a big deal, but its the first contact ive had with her in three months or so... i mean, ive called and left messages, but i dont know if any of them even get to her... this little girl means the world to me... and i havent been able to see her in months.... it isnt fair.... so here i am sitting by the phone, thinking of calling in sick to work, just so i can speak to her, i dont want to miss her call... .
i feel so alone right now, and i just dont know.... im pathetic i know, but i miss her so much..... the infamous one

What would happen if all of the WTS in-house attorneys quit?
by truth_about_the_truth ini was wondering, if the wts legal dept.
got overwhelmed with lawsuits and their volunteer attorneys at bethel decided that they couldn't take it anymore and decided to leave bethel, how would this affect the society?.
would the society have to consult outside attorneys?

I wonder how many there are of them, and how many are nearing the end of their 5 years, or however long it is, that they work for free? If some of those leave, the remaining ones will be even more stressed, teehee!

Hey, Justitia, sorry I mis-spelled your name the first time!
I do not have a problem following rules, but am only asking to see the basis for them. Where is the rule found, and by whose authority must we obey it? The elders can't satisfy either request. I am a Supervisor with the US Postal Service, and I know from experience that I get less respect from the employees when I wear a floral print dress or skirt and heels, than I do when in a business like slacks and jacket. I almost venture to say the elders like females in dresses to keep them in their place; that is, less commanding of respect!
Imagine if all the sisters refused one day to follow this unscriptural, un Bible-based, rule of men, and refused to dress their children this way any more...what would they do?
Picture the Stepford Wives up in arms!
You could start something big, especially if you spread the word about the sisters' attire in Denmark! You may open a door that cannot be closed again. I think you are very brave! Please keep us posted on how it goes.

Good for you, Justicia!
I am in agreement with dressing nicely to show respect for the setting one will be in, but I always asked for proof that this means skirts and dresses for women! Many women look so much sharper in slacks suits. Some have a physical reasosn for wearing them, such as legs sensitive to cold from poor circulation, diabetes, or varicose veins that they are self conscious about. Does any of this matter to the MEN who insist they must put on a dress and be miserable? No! I was always told to wear a dress due to "community standards." Well, Hello! In many communities, it is the norm now to see women in pants, and skirts have become the exception.
The real issue is dressing nicely to attend meetings. This should not preclude the wearing oif "nice" pantsiuts if the sister chooses.
Once, when I was about 18, I put on a navy pin-striped pantsuit and went up to my elder dad. "Dad, do I look sharp in this?" (Yes, very sharp! You look nice!)
"Do I look dressed up and neat in appearance?" (Yes, very dressy outfit; what's the occasion?)
"Can I wear this to the Hall Sunday?" (Haha, no! You can't wear pants to the Hall!)
"Why not? Where does it say that? I'm neat, sharp and dressed up, you said so!" (Never got a solid answer; just, you can't wear pants to the Hal.l

WTS: its real patrons
by greendawn indo you believe that the wts is being protected assisted and guided by demonic powers despite their claim that they are strictly associated only with god and his spirit?
i personally think it is not a coincidence that many things happen in their favour it is for example the demons that fight the "apostates" to prevent them from damaging the wts by exposing their wrong doing.
they also help blind and mislead ppl to enter this destructive cult.

Well, Satan is the Father of the Lie. Look how lying and deceptive the Blundering Body is! I do see a connection. I think maybe in the early origins, there were sincere people, but somewhere along the way, a demonic corrupt influence took over.
