I don't say that I am a JW... I say that I used to be part of the religion if people ask. I'm not really about telling people.

Do you still say you are a JW?
by architect inthe lastest study article says in a nut shell that we should tell our new workmates/employer that we are a jw..for you folks who do not attend anymore or you've got out of the "theocratic routine" do you still make it know you are a jw?

So, why did I meet with the elders?
by lola28 inthis is my explanation as to why i met with the elders today.
when i agreed to meet with the elders last week i had made up my mind to just go in and be honest with them.
i was going to tell the elders that i no longer believed this to be the truth, and then i was just going to walk away.

What have you done for yourself lately?
by MsMcDucket inafter reading greendawn's post, it made me realize that i do more for other people than i do for myself.
i put off buying things for myself and gave up doing certain things when my husband became ill... but, the one thing that i did do for myself and family was get all of us a computer.
having a computer gives me time to relax and roam around on the net doing random stuff.

This might sound weird, but I joined the army for myself this past week. And for the first time EVER in my life, I feel like I am in control of my own life. I feel like this huge weight of pleasing people has been taken off of my chest and that I am able to be me - finally, be myself!

Help
by dnl1211 ini'm taking social work in college and one of my papers is to do an experimental project on a topic that is completely different from who you are or your beliefs.
i met a girl at work that is a jehovah witness and i thought that it would be interesting to write my paper on.
if nobody minds would someone tell me their reactions if i was to come to your place of worship and you find out that i'm from a different religion?

Well I'm sure that they would welcome you with open arms and offer to conduct a free home bible study.

Welcome mavie,
I appreciate you coming to this website. I'm just a little confused as to why you are here. I'm truly sorry for what you and your wife are going through right now, as I was depressed when I was in the "truth" and I ended up putting myself in the hospital twice because of my parents and their constant pushing of me to do all that I can in the religion.
It seems like you still believe in the organization 100% or 99%, are you coming here for help or to have your questions answered? Or are you coming here to try to get us to believe in the religion again? Its just something about your wording that makes me sort of eerie. And I don't mean to be disrespectful or rude, I'm just going into getting to know you and your situation with open eyes and I guess with my guard up a little bit. Although you do know that if something happens and the elders were to find out that you are posting on here that - even if its for the kingdumb hall's sake - that you could get disfellowshipped?
And I'm not trying to scare you away, we are always happy to have new faces on here and hear from people who want to know the "truth" about the "truth." So welcome again!

Right now, its not about who stole what. We need to give support to RR and make sure that he is doing ok and see if he needs any of us. So why dont we all get off of that high horse about stealing and just worry about RR right now. My heart goes out to you RR.

Ray Franz---A Man We Owe Our Thanks To
by minimus ini've been thinking of how all of our lives have changed from learning about this religion and getting out.
probably no one has done more to help us understand the truth about "the truth" than raymond franz.
of course there were others that questioned dates, prophecies and dogma but it was ray franz that revolutionized the organization.
