I just bought it.Its amazingly accurate! Especially when the heroine tells her father that she has decided to quit school and become a full time pioneer.He was SO pleased!!!!That is exactly the way it is!The movie is very good,and isnt total JW bashing.A very interesting look at a sick cult.Also,I had a lot of "Thea" friends,Girls that would get me to do something that they "said " they were doing,and when I didi it,they would have to confess for my own good.Whew,I am soooo thankful to be out of that crap.

Did you loathe going in field service, if so why?

Dogs!!!! We had rashes of dog bites here and also Geese! sending a little girl out to walk to a house with 2 large German Shepards just didnt seem fair.I still have nightmares.And I saw a little old lady pummeled by 2 large grey geese.The watchtowers were flying and she was screaming.The Eder with us didnt do anything.Just had me open my car window and try to distract the geese.You haveto understand that the congo that I went to was full of particularly loathesome individuals.Just recently,when I told my mom about The elder,Brother R.exposing himself to me in service,repeatedly,she told me that he had sexually hit on her too...Sure wish I knew where he was now,I think Texas..Hmm.Also,I always dreaded the possibility of gooing to a school bullies house.Hell to pay on Monday morning in the school yard.

I can relate.I always have issues when whatever man I am with starts to have rules or secrets with me.Its an authority thing,not sure its related to te dubs,but could be.I hate authority in any form,even doctors and therepists.Why? Who knows.Maybe years of the idiot elders watching my every move.Maybe not..Dont know,but I hear your pain.

Just got ahold of "secret elders meetings" notes.
by aquagirl incant say how,but i am in possession of about 10 years worth of elders meetings notes.financial info,personal lists,signed letters etc.disfellowshipping meeting minutes,the works.it is unbelieveable.some of the note are "investigate so and so,she was seen at a movie,talk to sister so and so about her weight,investigate the matter between so and so and so and so etc.
letters from circuit servant visits w/recommendatons.anyone got any ideas?there are even minutes of a meeting in which some of the elders "had words"...all in glorious initialed and signed paper.numbers,names,contributions..what should i do with this "blessing from hohoba?

Going to skip this years Memorial for the first time.

they had a "shepherding call" for three hours while waiting for me to come back to my house.
if they're that determined, i'm somewhat concerned about their reaction to what i'm going to do.

I go w/my parents,Just my mum this year.Its usually pretty short and if you get a little baked before you go,It can be kinda fun actually.I get stared at a lot,which I sorta like now.I give everyone a huge smile and leave before the last prayer is done.Not too much effort for me and it makes my mum happy.What the heck,why not...

The trouble with fading as your leaving strategy
by eyesthatsee inwhatever your chosen strategy for leaving jws, the fundamental truth is that there is no clean / simple exit.
the mind control, the manipulation of normal family relationships etc will make any strategy very difficult at times.
the key issue is to know this ahead of time and be prepared, as best you can.. we've all chosen leaving strategies acording to our personal circumstances, preferences and learning from others.

I cant imagine any real freedom or peace of mind in "fading".When I finally got df'd it sucked,yeah,but it gave me a sense of freedom and bravado in a way.I didnt have to worry that someone might see me doing whatever.It did not matter.And in the end,the people that minded,didnt matter and the people that mattered,didnt mind.

You must not eat any "FAT"
by juci32 inif the witnesses follow the old law of "not eating blood" (even though the bible is pertaining to animal blood) then why do they not adhere to the command to avoid fat?
in leviticus 3:17 it states: 'this is a lasting ordinance for the generations to come, wherever you live: you must not eat any fat or any blood.'".
there is fat in almost every meat we eat.

You bet.I found a lot of stuff about how the wtbts was trying to get people to say that they were in the holocoust for being a JW,and nt for whatever other reason.Also I found a letter about how a previously well liked sister refused to say that she was there{holocoust} at all{she wasnt}aand how they should treat someone who was not looking out for the flocks best interest...Really petty stuff about people gaining weight,tight skirts and the "wrong kind of music" being listened to..Also the interesting financial plan that is the engine of the whole thing.Just as I had always suspected,but never had concrete proof. This ind of thing is happening alot,and I have a feeling that the next few years are going to be kind of,um,uncomfortable for the society...I hate them so...
