Still pouring down snow and blowing sideways here in Indiana! We have about 14 inches according to the news, but I don't know how they figure it with all these drifts! The power is still on, but I'm ready with a big 3 wick candle, a couple antique Aladdin Lamps, and a fireplace. Just wish my husband was better company.......sigh.........

I was about 10 years old and could pick out "Jehovah is our Refuge" on the piano. One elder who was especially nice and encouraging to me asked me to play it for the closing song one Thursday eve. I practiced and practiced. Then the night of the meeting, my dad said, "You aren't really going to play, are you? You'll embarass yourself and detract from the worship--it's not a recital, you know ." Well, I was too embarassed and scared to tell the elder that Dad said no, and I was terrified of pissing off my Dad by disobeying. When the time came, suddenly all eyes were on me. The elder who wanted me to play urged me foreward, and my Dad glared, I stumbled to the piano, butchered it, and hid in the back seat of the car until we finally went home. Got the expected "you embarassed us and Jehovah!"

Do you find the forum addictive?
by avidbiblereader inhow many find that they need or want to be on the forum at least once a day?
do you like keeping up with fellow posters and friends or do like being able to give your thoughts without the fear of being criticized?
i look at some of the amounts that some have posted wow and i am no better for only being here less than a month, it is a great place to talk and get loads of wisdom from others on a variety of subjects, thanks everyone for the thoughtful expressions and heartfelt posts.. abr.

Yep, definitely addictive. I lurked a long time before posting, so I feel like I know people more than my number of posts would say. Intermittently I am on here for hours, but a day or two goes by occasionally that I miss. My husband doesn't understand this obsession, but I can't figure out his nicotine needs, either........

How I lost my soul mate.
by Abandoned ini've shown this to a couple of friends, but i'm ready to widen that audience a bit.
so, without further ado, here's my soul mate story.. i worked with amber and saw her a few times a week.
when i first accepted a lead care position, she was the one who trained me in on med passing and from that first day i worked with her, i was so impressed by how kind and patient she was.

Abandoned, I am so sorry you had such a loss. Sounds like you did fall for her hard and she was vulnerable (on the rebound, as you said). The poems are very articulate and well written, but do you think maybe they were a little too intense? I'm wondering if the intensity scared her, and she pounced on the hooker story as an excuse to extract herself from the situation.
This is just my observation, and remember I am no relationship expert lately. I just know if I were shakey/timid I could be easily threatened by being rushed and pushed.

I'm one of the EVIL SLAVE
by Amazing inbasd on my comment to another post titled "1979," i thought that this would make an interesting separate topic.. a little history: many here are aware that i was an ms and then elder and of the anointed while a jw.
i openly professed anointing for 20-years of the 27-years i was associated with the watchtower.
since that time, i have totally and completely renounced all but one watchtower doctrine.

In Your Opinion, What's The Best Vehicle To Drive?
by minimus inwhat is rated the best??
what do you like?

I personally love my Dodge Durango. My brother and I both have one--1998 and 2000. Although both have had some mechanical problems, it's the interior comfort and the solid feel that we like. Crummy mileage and insurance is high. Not economical or environmentally responsible, I'm afraid.
Four wheel drive is a must in my book. It makes me feel much more confident in bad weather.

"Family day" Is this a new jdub thing?
by cultswatter ini know of jws that celebrate "family day" at this time of year.
i have asked these jw about where they got the term "family day" was it from the watchtower?
they seem to deny the watchtower had ever mentioned "family day", but i can sense they are trying to hide something here.

I never heard of it. Got to be pretty new, or I am just old........of course my folks were very old school and didn't allow anything that could have been interpreted as a Christmas gift exchange in our home.
I can count on ONE HAND the 'gifts' I received as a kid. From anyone.

Take care, Sparky! Aren't you glad the surgery is over? No where to go but up! And remember there are no medals given to those who don't ask for their pain meds. Hit that little button if you need it! Nancy
