But that poor kid! And courageous mom! Mental illness is so hard on everyone involved--and then to be rejected by your only support system...I just hope he gets good treatment. The mom has the wonderful advantage of the internet for research. When my sister was diagnosed 30 or 40 years ago, all my folks had access to was a couple outdated encyclopedia entries and the spiritual food supplied by the org.
it was boring,,snooze city, there were room for a bout 200 and they didn't have more than 40 in attendance very few youths mostly older ones(30 and beyound).
i didn't have a clue what the speaker was saying thank god i came a 1/2 late, those poor poor people that have to sit thru such mind numbing drival about how we are to treat people in the congregation and not to be jealous bla bla bla.
the wt the reader was drone the conductor brain dead and every body answered the wt by practically reading their answer word for word from the wt,, it was pitiful,,pitiful.
Who says 30 is old??????
i've been on plenty of jcs but i never was the target of the elders, judicially.....although i would be now.

Do I attend meetings and share in the preaching work because my parents expect me to do so or because I want to please Jehovah?
Reading this made my stomach hurt just like it did 30 years ago. Of course I was doing it because my parents expected it. Remember the guilt of seeing that in print and knowing they were talking about YOU?
i have 2 jw's coming every freaking saturday to my auto repair shop (going on for about 9 weeks now) trying to get me to come back into the organization.
any suggestions on how to let them down easily?
a lot of them are my customers.

Yep, that ought to do it...
once i left the jw social scene and started hanging out with "worldly" people a lot more, i realized that these "worldly" people don't gossip nearly as much as the witnesses.. i didn't realize it at the time but now i can see how much of a gossip-based social structure it all was.
jws absolutely thrive on gossip.
has anyone else noticed this?
My experience was the opposite, but I credit my parents' integrety for that. My mom couldn't and still can't say one negative or gossipy thing about anyone--and makes it a point not to listen. She can cut me off faster than anything when I fish for info! Only positive things about anyone...
But I have a cousin that can be a wealth of info...
I think it's the nature of a socially isolating group to talk about what they know--each other. And when someonee else sins, it's confirmation that you are better than they are. For folks who don't get a lot of positive reinforcement, I think that's a big factor.
I am so thankful that I have found unconditional love and a real relationship with God.

i had not planned on having a fouth child.
i had an iud and i got pregnant with my boy while it was still inserted.
luckily that iud was nowhere near my baby.
