My wife sees the lack of love and.. Any suggestions on how to proceed?

in the past few weeks, my wife has been seeing more and more the lack of love and caring from jws.

for example, she is organizing a "princess party" for our 4 year old daughter.

a couple of the parents have expressed reservations about this since they think princesses may be "too magical" even though we know they have been to disneyworld, and watch the disney channel.

I like jgnat's suggestion to remind her the 'jehovah' is not just at the KH. Get her and your daughter out in nature. Do fun things as a family and include others - including non-jw families with young children.

Separation of Powers mentioned my first thought: Maybe try the same princess-themed party with a few classmates or kids in the neighborhood. Keep it very small, like maybe 4 children in total. Let the 'worldly' parents know that is not a birthday party. It's just a 'get-to-know-you' party. Or an end of summer party. Or beginning of school party. I doubt she will get the same 'egg-shell' feeling that she got from the KH.

10 min meeting with all servants after the Tuesday meeting with CO

is there anyone who is currently appointed who can tell me what this 10 min meeting with the co was about?

he made the announcement that he wants to meet with all appointed men right after the meeting..

Isn't a 10-minute meeting with Elders and Ministerial Servants standard-operating-proceedure at the beginning of each of visit with the CO??

Seems normal to me. Review agenda & expectations for the week and pass out assignments that will be monitored for progress for the duration of the week.

No? Not standard??

JWs at the Edinburgh Festival

my girlfriend and i took the train through to edinburgh to soak in the atmosphere and catch a few free comedy shows at the fringe festival.. almost immediately i spotted them; jw.org witnesses.. how did i know it was them?.

well, the middle-aged, tall man wearing the suit, shirt and tie was a big clue.

that and the fact that he was holding the hand of a similarly tall, middle-aged woman, dressed in the jw uniform of long skirt, blouse and light summer jacket.

My mother listed me as a Jehovah's Witness at the Hospital for a pending emergency surgery

i've been having some medical issues recently and had to check into the emgerceny hospital.

when they admitted me the registar asked my mother my religion.

she told them jehovah's witness.

Let the hospital know that you want the JW information removed. Then check back in a week or so to make sure that it really *is* removed.

our last midweek meeting was going along as planed, then after the last talk, an elder was called up to say: member x is no longer a jw, please sing.... after the song it was silent (compared to todays were people started talk right away) and the father had his head down with someones hand on his back.

i didn't catch what they were saying, but the pose said: i'm sorry for your loss.. it was a weird night thinking how leaving a religion could couse such sadnness.. jw.org.

Crazy things JW inlaws said

here is one... my mil told me according to a co talk that she heard jehovah could strike you dead when he is executing judgement based on the clothing you are wearing.

she was mad at the moment of skirts that were above the knee on me and her friend.. i said to her two things:.

1) i hope i am not in the tub during this predicament.. 2) i thought jehovah read hearts?.

As I recall (but it could have changed in the past 15 years...), Jehovah is not the one who does the execution. The angels do that job. And since angels cannot read hearts (only Jehovah can), the angels rely more on appearances (ie: clothing, speach, activities, location, associations, etc).

UUGGHH! I can't tell you how this one little concept affected my life for 25-30 years.

What a waste.
