Nina? Was that a circular hall, with the stage in the middle? I believe it was rumored to have been bought from Bob Hope?
Yup, beks. That is the hall. The circular stage rotated, too.

growing up as a kid in the 70's (and early 80's), did you ever notice at the assembly that there was always someone who had a tape recorder on stage and was taping the whole assembly.
are these tapes around today, generally i would love to hear some talks that were given before 1975 and see how many brothers said something big was going to happen, because we all know the watchtower never said that !!!
(yeah right).. any websites that might have a few of these or other interesting topics ???.

hey all .
i had one of the worst days yesterday .
anyway i worked on monday 6 hour day, he left me some accounting work which he knows i cant do and office work.
Were you 'on the clock' while he was chewing you out?
Add his little tirade and the hour it took you to calm down to you time card.
(Maybe not. But don't let him dump on you on your time. Don't let him do it period - but certainly not when you are not getting paid.)
He sounds like a jerk.

You are talking about Phil Ingram. I went to pioneer school in 1985 with him and his wife (forget her name).
I have been in congregations with George Benson, Rebbie Brown (aka Rebbie Jackson), Paul Sorvino's wife (now ex-wife; I don't believe she was ever baptized) and Larry Ingram's mother-in-law. Also low-key local radio DJ Paul Freeman and Michael Jackson attended my parents former congregation.
There were a few others, but I can't remember who right now.
Swan - You comments remind me of a WT comment my mother made many years ago. While on vacation she attended a hall out of state. Someone said something about how wonderful (yadda, yadda, yadda) to have people like Michael Jackson take a stand for Jehovah ... blah, blah, blah.
Mother makes her comment "I happen to attend the same congregation as Michael Jackson and <someone else famous>. Some may think that is noteworthy but I'm not so impressed. In the same congregation are two people who are paralized. One is parapeligic and the other is quadrapelegic. THOSE people impress me. What those two do to just get to a meeting is truly inspiring."
I paraphrased her comment, but your sentiment reminded me of that. While I don't agree with my mom on many things anymore, I think I still agree on that statement.

Hi Joe -
I'm up in Ventura County but once a month I go to dinner with a few ex-jw's in LA. 'Sandy' organizes it and posts a message here on JWD. Last month there were just 4 of us but in March there were 6. I don't know if that's too far for you. It's a little far for me, but I really enjoy the 'association'...!! We usually meet up in a casual restaurant.
Also, I found this link about a group that meets in SanDiego County. (Looks like they just had their monthly meeting a few days ago.) http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/19/111704/1.ashx
Additionally, I heard some talk about an OC group that was going to be doing something on a weekday night. Don't know the date(s).
I hope this helps - even just a little...!

i read "cat in the hat" to zach tonight and became inspired.
you be the judge if it was "inpsired of demons", "inpsired of god", or just gas.
the sun did not shine.. it was a miserable day.. life seemed so empty.. just so cold and so gray.. .
Love it!
Thanks Dave!

ok, this is gross.. i use to work in a restaurant in fl.
this lady use to come in that we called poopy pants.
(not to her face) anyway, she would sit, eat, and go to the bathroom like clockwork.
And there is nothing worse then sitting on a wet toilet seat in a womans bathroom. Im mean come on, what kind of equiptment do they have? I know some stand up over the toilet so they dont have to sit, but jeese, wipe it off at least!
Uggh!! I HATE this.
I you not going to sit on the seat - at least put it up. Squatters squirt all over the seat and cause way more 'contamination' than anyone else.
Someone at work pees on the seat often. I'm still on the lookout for who it is. I have 2 people in mind...
EEEWW! (Gotta bring my little disinfectant wipee's with me - for the seat, that is.)

i've been keeping tabs on my old congregation for the last 3+ years (i dont even remember when was the last time i went to a meeting) it is not easy, i have joined a site named 'bebo' and have a handfull of so called 'friends' in my network.
mostly from my old congregation, they seem to acknowledge my existence, but keep there distance.
no one ever invites me to anything or to hang out.. time flies and things change.
I think the reason if feels like it sucks to you is because you are not out. You are still in - just standing on the edge looking longingly at only the 'good' things (at least it seems like 'good things' because you miss it and the people tell you they are happy.)
I agree with the others. Stop looking at that site and start finding new friends. THEN you really will have something fun to share if/when you meet up with your witness friends in real life. (or anyone else for that matter.)
Simple suggestions for finding a few friends:
1. Start as acquaintences.
2. Start a thread here on JWD to see if there are other ex-witnesses in your area. Set a date, time and location and invite them to meet up for dinner. (Choose a place that's not too noisy and relatively inexpensive.) Viola!! Instant opportunity for new friends.
3. The same group can go bowling that very night - or another night a couple of weeks later. (Get phone numbers, if people are interested. Encourage them to bring a friend or two.)
4. Don't be overly critical of the people that show up. This is just the beginning of a friendship circle. These people also have other friends who they may eventually introduce to you.
5. Volunteer in your community. (There was a good thread about this over the weekend.)
6. Take a class. Many classes are ideal for working in 'study groups' - a cluster of 3 or 4 people. Even if just to study for a test, it's a nice opportunity to meet at a local coffee house and chat. Take a break and suggest you all go for a walk to energize your minds.
7. Check out local chapter of the 'Sierra Club'. They often have hikes and trail maintenance sessions.
Once you start getting just a few acquaintences, they can develop into friends. When you start having real friends - not conditional ones - and start doing activities that you believe in, you won't think life sucks anymore.
Post more. Read the responses. Let us know how things are going. We have ALL been where you now.
Take Care,
-Aude.
hello everyone, been browsing the forum for quite a while now(about a year) and decided its time to post.
i'm male, just turned 36 on the first of april, i've been in a the process of fading for about two years now, not that easy having come from a witness family.
i've been in doubt about this religion for most of my life, but finally built up the courage to stop going to the meetings, finding out now how big and beautiful this world is and realizing how much i missed out on "real" life!.....i started to fade about the time i was being pushed, yes pushed into becoming a ms. i did not want to have that duty, and i say duty, not "privelege" as they would say because thats what it is, a duty!
Welcome, Brother.
Nice to meet you. Chime in whenever you want...!

i've got the conversation my 'laywer' jason had with the head of my appeal hearing ghram, he refues to answer any questions about the recorder being tampered with, but denies that anyone named 'sean' was at the meeting, then later he talks about talking to 'sean' at the meeting!.
this guy is so desprate to cover his own ass.
btw, i will testify that the bag was closed when i was in the room before i left and that it was open after i got back.
I can't get it to d/l. Maybe someone is modifying it???
