my mother had a beautiful ceremony.
i was able to go to another church, sit there, and listen to the preacher/s without feeling guilty.
my mother and sister had made previous preparations for her burial.
Sounds like overall there is a lot of love and support around you.
Hugs to you.

I always enjoy your comments.

why is it that you believe that you have to work for your salvation when the bible states very clearly that we are saved by grace?
all salvation demands is that you ask for forgiveness, and denounce your sins, its not something that you can work for, you have to believe.
Which speak well for the admin, as it made it in such a way that maybe active Witnesses could come here on accident and read something to wake them up from their darkness, before they realize this place would not be something the Watchtower would like.
Actually, the admins were active witnesses when they created this site. It didn't take long until they were ex-witnesses, though.
I think they do a fantastic job of keeping as 'safe' a place as possible for active and inactive/ex- witnesses to partticipate.
Chanie - Welcome to JWD. It's a great to place to discuss just about anything.

i'm not going to get into much details but i'm just so depressed today.
today i feel like i'm living in a personal hell.
i have been sinking into this depression lately and it seems like it's starting to consume me.
I have been there more often than I care to think about.
A couple of years ago someone sent me a very hopeful little paragraph.
I can't find it right now but it helped me alot.
Essentially it said that often times when we feel the most stressed and frustrated with life, we are right on the verge of a major personal growth. Embrace the changes and challenges with as much grace and dignity as you can and prepare to come through it all - a much stronger, mature, competent, well-rounded person.
Don't forget to breathe. Take two or three deep, deep breaths and exhale very s-l-o-w-l-y and completely. Repeat several times every day. (Someone I worked with scheduled time for just breathing/mediatation 10 minutes in the middle of every work day. Phones went to voicemail and he closed his and just breathed. 11:15am-11:25am every day.)
Lean on your friends to help you through. Maybe your parents or Dave can take the kids for an extra afternoon so you can indulge in something that you want. Or just a nap under a sunny window. Would your mom or sister make an extra pan of a favorite food? Then you can just heat it up without having all the prep time.
Another simple thing to feel better is to make a list of simple things that you truly love. Indulge yourself every day. Several times a day is better. (Spoonful of your favorite ice cream. Use a favorite dish or glass that you usually save for company. You and Sierra could paint each others fingernails!
You know we love you. (Maybe that helps just a little~~?)

the other day i asked my hubby what we were going to do this year on halloween.
he said, hide out in the basement with the lights off as usual.. i wasn't going for that this year.
today i stopped off at the store, bought some scary decorations, a spooky cd and loads of candy.
WOO HOOO!!
I spoke too soon. I just had two separate groups come to my door. Too cute!!
First group had a 13 year old with two little ones. She introduced me to 'SpongeBob' and 'Ariel' and 'well, me!' She's lived here all her life and told me that next year I don't need to buy so much candy since there's not too many kids here. LOL.
Mothers of the next group said that while there's not too many kids around, the neighbors are always really good to the kids.
I'm glad I didn't [completely] give up...!

do they have any 'directives' about jehovah's witnesses going to aa?
?
I've seen it and it's members disparaged. Some witnesses think of it as a religion. Especially with the 'Higher Power' reference.
Also the strong, near mandatory, pressure for meeting attendance. The witnesses seem to relate to that and take it as competition, I guess.

At least you're not handing out toothbrushes!! lol
Funny. A pediatric dentist that I used to work for would do this. Every single year. LOL
I'm envious of you with all the little trick-or-treaters.
For 18 years the kids in my old neighborhood knew that I didn't give out candy. (Sometimes I even answered the door and told them I didn't celebrate Halloween. Silly me.)
Last year was my first year ever handing out candy. I had fun - but not too many came to my door. Even had a few decorations set on my window sills.
This year I'm in a new neighborhood and I'm all ready. Lots of candy. A few more decorations. And not one single little 'Treater. I'm so disappointed.
Guess I'll be bringing all my candy to work tomorrow. I sure don't want it laying around here for long...
