Rosalee sounds very much like my wife. Although most people would agree with the opening post, she feels that she must make an argument in defence of her brothers. No matter how wrong they may be, loyal JW's will still try to make a defence. It's like banging your head off a brick wall with them. Why bother?

What the hell is the MATTER with these people?
by mkr32208 ini work nights so when i get off i'll run by walmart to grab something to make for breakfast or just if i need something or whatever.
this morning at 6:55 (i know because i looked at my watch) a little black girl maybe 7 years old came up to me by herself to offer me a tract... i mean come on it's still full freaking dark out and this poor little kid is handing out tracts alone.
i asked her "where are your parents.

Why do we go door to door? It's an identifying mark. People know we're JW's
by truthseeker inan elder recently gave a talk on why we go door to door during the service meeting.. as well as being a command from jehovah and jesus, it's an identifying mark.
in other words, it's a corporate logo!!!!.
he said that people see us going door to door - they know who we are.

It really is laughable. So people simply seeing JW's out in service is enough for them to be marked for destruction or survival? The purpose of the ministry in their view is to give people a warning of armaggedon and to let them know that they have a choice to make. They always said that the best way to do this is to speak to peaople face to face. But when did you ever hear a JW actually mentioning the warning? Was it not the case that they simply presented their lame shit magazines and got off the door ASAP. No warning, nothing! But this is the most important 'lifesaving' work being carried out in the modern day? Bullshit! Tell you what guys, have a nice long shit on the toilet whilst reading the newpaper next Saturday morning. That will be much more purposefull and rewarding.

The scandalous effect of JW childrens literature. Why not investigated?
by jambon1 ini can only imagine that in some jw children, the effect of the lessons taught and visual 'illustrations' can be mentally destructive.
some of the pictures in relation to armageddon are imo 'too much' for a small developing child to take.
it surprises me that the authorities have not investigated and put a stop to this form of mental abuse in children.

Clam; As a JW parent, I did actually have problems with the kids publications. Although I would pick and choose the ones I thought were suitable instead of binning them immediately. I am just so surprised that someone hasn't looked into this from a child welfare point of view. Skeeter; the Noah picture in the old bible story book shows a woman sitting on the top of a rock with her baby clinging to her for dear life. Lovely eh?

Did you feel like this toward the end? Brothers/Sisters & worldly people
by jambon1 ini can remember about 2 years before i exited the org i had a terrible dilema which didn't really have anything to do with my doubts in relation to doctrine.. the problem was hearing over and over and over about the fact that being in the org was 'the best place to be'.
that the brothers were 'true friends'.
didn't they have a video out called 'ypa - how can i make real friends?'.

Now, for me the problem was this; Every time I went to the meetings or out in field service, there was always some scandal going on. Folk gossiping or bitching about others. Cliques being formed. Elders disagreeing and pioneers falling out with each other.
On the other hand, as I started slowly re-associating with my old worldy friends and family, I was coming away from their occasions feeling entertained, refreshed and happy. I was actually having such a good time with the 'the wicked', yet when I was with the brothers, I just felt loaded down and full of negativity.
Anyone else relate to this?

of that warm and fuzzy feeling after a long day of field service
by inkling in(this story fits a late 90's me) --- it's a dreary grey afternoon and the last desperate drops of rainare splattering themselves against the window of the small town cafe.
i stare into the bottom of my coffee and swirl the speckleddark grounds into a tiny hurricane in a pale chipped cup and smile.
the sisters across from me are laughing.

Very well written indeed. And sums up my feelings entirely at the time. I remember sitting in a cafe at exactly the same point of the day, 3.00pm. I had spent a few hours with our asshole pioneeers and ministerial servants. I remember toward the end, looking at them all, listening to their gossipy chatter and thinking to myself; "I have wasted an entire morning/afternoon with these jokers and accomplished absolutely NOTHING". At the time I though that I just needed to pray more when I had these thoughts.
