Did you return to celebrating holidays?
by song19 inwith this new light, i am starting to try and figure out what to do with my life and my time... now that the world is opened up for me to finally explore.. i have been wondering if i will return to celebrating the holidays with my 'worldly' relatives.
my parents, brother, and in-laws are all witnesses.
i have pretty much rejected the holidays say for 25 years.

Fancy discussing the manner in which people will die. Sick bastards! Really, I despair with this nonsense.

Observations about dubs as people...
by Princess Daisy Boo ini was thinking back on some of the people i knew growing up, as well as my own family - many of whom are dubs... tell me what your own experiences are of these kind of people, did you notice a large prevalence of these types of people in the congs you attended:.
1. health nuts: into all sorts of alternative health theories like iridology, reflexology, homeopathy etc?
2. get rich quick folk: always getting involved in this scheme or that, this business or that - especially pyramid type things?.

I would prefer my children to die than to have them Df'd
by lilyflor ini was still in the "troof" a couple of years ago when my mom said that to my face, in front of my husband no less.. he was a jw as well, he couldn't believe it.
my reply was "well i will give my life to save my children and if god sees fit to punish me for that - that's his choice".

Have heard numerous comments like these and they are sickening. One elder told me that when the big A kicks off, he 'wants to see the wicked die'. Like, he wanted to watch it happening. Do they not realise that it makes them look like a right bunch of mentalist fannies? "Out of the hearts abundance, the mouth speaks".

Jehovah allowed 140,000 dead in Burma will they understand it was needed??
by Witness 007 inyes the tsunami killed 250,000 and now afew years later approx.
140,000 dead in burma....will people understand that this was all needed to prove we needed jehovah's rule in our lives?
he allowed this to prove a point.....not to mention the ethnic cleansing in burma which killed just as many.

The tsunami was something which finally confirmed to me that I didn't believe in god. The ensuing stories and TV pictures just made me so sad & it somehow reaffirmed that I could not be close to a god who allows this kind of misery for ANY reason. A kind & loving father does not sit back and watch as his children suffer. I act when I feel my kids are in danger - immediately! I do ANYTHING to stop bad things happening to them. 'God' doesn't. Comparing god to a loving, caring father is an insult to all good parents.

Where do you start? One of the best was this; "The brothers, not the organisation, got over excited about 1975. And, after all, the society did apologise later on, for any part they played in heightening expectation". I think I remember reading the 'apology'. It was more of an accusation than an apology.

If you could get back the time spent in WT what would you do differently?
by Thechickennest inis it too late to start over and pursue your dreams?
where would you likely be in life if it wasn't for the time spent being one of jehovah's witnesses?
was there anything salvagable from the your former life in the jw cult?.

Many things. I often think about how I willingly bent over & took it up the pipe from such horrible, demanding, self-seeking morons. I would love to go back & say a thing or two differently on a number of incidents that occurred.

Something Else I Was Thinking About...
by str8?so is spaghetti..until you heat it up insometimes i look back at my 27 years as a witness and am astounded by the amount of double speak that goes on in the organisation.
god loves unconditionally, but only certain ones, god is going to save the world from its downward spiral, but first of all he is going to destroy millions of evil people.
it is all so fatalistic and unkind.

I'm sorry you went through this. Bad, offensive, vile & rude! Any time that I see one of the elders on my travels, I thank fark that I am not subject to this sort of crazy stuff any more. To think that I ran around trying to avoid them all when I 1st left the org.
