by DanTheMan in'bout 3 or 4 years before i left the borg i ran into a dub acquaintance that i hadn't seen in a while while grocery shopping.

AWAKE Says We Shouldn't Judge Apostates!
by minimus inthe february 8, 2003 awake has an article entitled:"is there an unforgivable sin".notice the good news for apostates or those who once associated.
"some people who were once faithful christians have purposely drawn away from god, perhaps because of bitterness, pride, or greed, and are now apostate fighters against god's spirit.
they willfully oppose what the spirit is clearly accomplishing.

The sad thing about all this is that the reason the WT prints stuff like this is because they get all these letters coming in from the dubbies asking them questions like "have apostates committed the unforgivable sin?" and all that. There is a certain breed of JW (probably most of them) that needs the WT to tell them how they should view EVERYTHING.

I'm cracking up and cursing at the same time. Another classic from the WT propaganda us-versus-them machine.
I'm embarrassed that I gulped down garbage like this for years without giving it a second thought. Yup those apostates are baddies allright Yup

"COC"=any effect?
by mackey ini posted about a week ago on another forum about a very close friend of mine whom i am trying to get out of the org.
she was baptized when she was 15 and she's now 24. i want to marry her,but i have to get her out first, which i know all to well is extremely difficult.
through extensive research it seems to me my only chance is to get her to read "coc" and "isocf", which she has agreed to do.

Some of the most active and diehard JW's you will find have read Franz's books, so no guarantees mate. Remember, JW's have been very trained to rationalize EVERYTHING that mama does. They can lay that "they're just imperfect men" card down at any time and trump (in their mind) your apostate royal straight flush of evidence that the WT is a scam.
I can't see how anybody could read them and not be moved by them, but fear is a powerful force.
When I read CofC, I was good and ready, I had seen enough on my own and was already half-way out the door.

Elders want letter from my daughter!
by reubenfine inbackground: my unbaptized daughter married an unbaptized young man when they were both 18 years old.
it didn't work out and 2 years later they divorced.. now it's 6 years later, (after the divorce), and my daughter never got baptized.
her ex-husband did and is engaged to another dub.

Your daughters private life is hers and none of the elders business.
DITTO!!!!!!!!!!!
JW elders think that anybody who has ever been remotely associated with their bizarre organization is somehow still under their imagined authority. Please encourage your daughter to IGNORE these pathetic morons!!!!

So Buster, is Julie deprogrammed, or is she a guilt-ridden, 'I'm a failure' ex-jw?

It is now 2003.... Where is Armageddon?
by Nosferatu ini find it extremely amusing how each year is passing without armageddon.
"for the year 2000, i visualize a world transformed into a beautiful paradise!
but i don't think that either the present world or its rulers will live to see that day.. we are living in the last days of the system of things.

Well, I have some "inside" information that you might find interesting.
You see, last weekend, my mother in law had her circuit assembly, and the Bethel speaker had some insights. Apparently, those in Bethel know a lot more than the rest of us in the trenches.
He said, and I quote, that Armageddon is "just around the corner".
Remember, you heard it here first.
Oh, did I get a great big belly-laugh from that. Thanks running man!

'Bout 3 or 4 years before I left the borg I ran into a dub acquaintance that I hadn't seen in a while while grocery shopping. I was at her congo for 5+ years, and she knew who I was. As I approached her she quickly looked away and started looking at some items on the shelf. I went up and talked to her for a few seconds, and it seemed like she felt uncomfortable talking with me. I didn't think about it at the time, but later I wondered to myself if she was DF'd. She wasn't a spiritually strong (tm) sister, it wouldn't have been a big surprise if she had gotten busted by Mama Tower for something or another. I never did find out whether she was DF'd or not, and really I didn't care.
Another time, I made a phone call to the active-JW parents of the girl who had "witnessed" to me in college. She disassociated herself not too long after I got baptized. Well, she answered the phone when I called. I talked to her for a few minutes, just small talk, and then I said, "wait a minute, I'm not supposed to be talking to you, am I?" How weird was that? She was/is a weak, low self-esteem type of person, so she just laughed uncomfortably and got her mom. I wish she would have confronted me a little bit for saying that.
I never could get into the shunning thing. Even at the KH I always tried to say hi to DF'd ones. It all seemed so bizarre. Disfellowshipping was something that I didn't have a very complete understanding of when I got dunked, and it was a big factor in my leaving.

Did you keep "satanic" LP's as a JW?
by Pleasuredome in.
i kept all my iron maiden records 'cos they weren't satanic in my opinion and the music was just too good to be thrown out.
anyone else keep records that would have been deemed "satanic"?

Oh yeah, I threw a BUNCH of CD's and tapes away when I was studying. Guns n' Roses, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Sabbath, Ozzy, Led Zep, etc.
I was a huge Metallica and Iron Maiden fan. I was so into James Hetfield's lyrics, especially from the older, really dark Metallica albums. I think that I absorbed a lot of the hopeless, apocalyptic mindset that he seemed to have in those days, I think that may have contributed to my becoming a JW. Really! I think there was a connection. I still like some hard rock, but I've lost my taste for the really heavy stuff.
I have been a Joe Satriani nut since I first heard Satch Boogie around 1987 or so. His music has helped me through some tough times, and I think he is an absolutely brilliant musician. When I was a JW I often hoped to hear that he had become one too. When I left, I went to his website and told him to run the next time the dubbies come to his door!!!!!!

do you think that there is a big exodus due from t
by dannywalsh ini dont know about you guys but im starting to get the feeling that a big fallaway is on the cards in the wt world what with all the recent scandals and the advent of the internet , information is so readily available to those in developed countries ,i feel that especially in developed nations the wt will suffer huge losses due to apathy and their extreme stand on so many issues, that many will become sick and tired of the wt treadmill of life which is so far away from the simplistic beauty of biblical christianity what do you think?

:A friend of mine offered this tantalizing possibility from the Borg. New "light" regarding birth control, and prohibiting it! What better way to grow the Borg from within?
Interesting. I can see some future WT study articles about how Godly it is to bear children, complete with cheesy photos depicting smiling adults with small children. (For those of you who haven't been to meetings in a while, it is now customary for the WT conductor to ask for comments about the photographs in the article.)
