Thought I'd see what was happening here seeing you didn't get any responses. Dooddaddy does sound interesting. He's a fellow Aussie and in my age group but I don't know him. Sounds like he might have lots in common with unclebruce. It's a pity when people are lost to the board and there's no way of tracking them down!!!

here in the dfw area we've had no rain and 100+ f temps for several weeks.
it looks like we are about to get a bit of relief with some rain!
Sounds a bit like South Australia. We're in the middle of winter so it should be 15 degrees Celsius maximum and raining. Instead it's 21 degrees Celsius and no rain (that's about 70 degrees F). The first 2 months of winter were the second driest on record (47mm rain compared to 159mm average).
Great for sitting in the sun but not good overall.
simon raised an interesting point in my last thread about so many leaving the forum - his point was that the ideal situation would be to move on and leave forums like this one in the past at some point.

seems as though cult victims in general - and witnesses in particular - have been taught to divest oneself of the social tangibles needed to make friends and move on.
Good question Jeff. Faders who are still socialising with their jw families have their own set of problems. Elders in my extended family have said straight out that they will associate with me only until they find out I'm doing something against jw standards. This could be something simple like celebrating a birthday or accepting a xmas card. Someone else reading this would think - that's easy, why would you want to mix with people like that. When you dearly love most of your family, it's not that straightforward.
I have my superficial work "friends" who fill a certain need but those people and my family will never meet.
this morning i took a long walk and happened to walk near by a small christian church.
and i could see them come out of the building after their meeting.
they were all dressed differently, some in clean sunday clothes, some in clean jeans, but no one in a suit like the jw's do.

RichieRich, I'm sure you looked great in your suit. You can still wear one now - if you want too!! The funny thing is, now it might not bother you to go shopping in a suit. People would think you've been to a business conference. Not on a Sunday morning though!

Thank you blondie. I really appreciate your response. Sometimes I feel like it would be easier to go back (when I see the distress my parents are under due to my lack of attendance). Then I use my brains and remember the lies.

Undoubtedly, I will be given any new publications in the hope that I'll see the light again. They forget that I've still got the old publications so if I want to refresh my memory on "the truth" I can do that at any time. Those old publications will remind me that we are now in the 1000 year reign because it's after 1975. When will I lose the bitterness?
my daughters scripture teacher recently told the scripture class that in nsw, australia there will be no more scripture classes.
the reason was that it was too hard to find teachers.
a couple of weeks later a letter was read in the congregations to that affect, and saying that it is a parents responsibility to spiritually raise a child.
I don't think "scripture classes" have ever been held in South Australia.
mrs ozzie and i visited the home of her swim coach on sunday.
he lives nearby a large kingdom hall which accommodates several large city congregations, yet he says that he's never been visited by the dubs.

It's similar here - most of the local witnesses don't know me, yet I've only had a knock on the door once in the last two years. I get the impression that these days "field service" often means return visits - which are more like social calls on people they've been visiting for years.
i know alot have been leaving lately, but i have been feeling for a while, that im ready to move on, you guys have been a wonderful source of friendship, kindness and support and i couldnt have done it without you all.. im in a happy place now and it feels great.. i will pop back on every now and then to touch base and show you pics of bubs when she makes her debut.. if any want my email addy pm, i would love to keep in touch with some.

I don't post that much myself, but I was really looking forward to hearing about the new baby. Glad you'll still be dropping in now and then. And good news that you've moved on from the hurt and bitterness. That must be a good feeling!!

after 7 months out of the cult and my 20e birthday approaching (next week) i sorted out what i would do with my life.
after i exited the borg i thought about various plans like touring the world or infiltering the congregation and fight the borg or becoming a professional musician (music is a hobbie for me).
Sounds like a good plan, genesis!
