so, you are starting to leave the cult.
you begin to meet new people and instead of viewing them all as 'bad association', you begin to view them as fellow humans.
what was your first impression of 'worldly people'?.
I can imagine how difficult it is for one born a dub to adjust to the non JW society
I was born into a JW family but I went to school until I was 16 and have worked since then. I love having conversations with people whereever I go, so have always known that people "in the world" could be caring and friendly - and some not so nice, the same as in the congregation.
The problem with JWs is, you're not allowed to make a mistake. People "in the world" are far less judgmental. You don't have to worry about whether you are saying or doing the right thing all the time.
thankyou so much for all the good wishes you have sent us in the last few days, trev has been printing up the emails, pms and threads, and bringing the cards to show me every day, and i get a lift every time i see him coming in with more of your lovely messages to read.. it's been a tough time for both of us, and it won't get any easier.
i am dreading chemo, to be honest, but i have to bear it, as i would anything that gives me hope.
but that's for monday, and i am going to enjoy myself as much as i can this weekend.
Linda, so good to have you back on JWD, even if it's only for a day or two - for now. Hope you are able to enjoy the weekend with Trev.

i've been married for 2 years and i should have been more open to the board.
however, i'm getting a divorce on sunday, the same time i have to go back to the meetings with her.
i'll update everybody on the status of my marriage.
CRR, you're a naughty one. This is an April fool's joke.
well not new to the site, but never made a formal introduction.
first like to thank those who put this site together and make it possible for us who.
need a place to go and work things out.
Welcome DoubleVision. We look forward to hearing more from you.
i'm in love with a man who is a witness.
i am a pretty inactive protestant, meaning my parents were only able to drag me to church twice a year on christmas eve and easter morning.
he told me early into our relationship that he wanted to marry me and spend the rest of his life with me, and that he has never felt the love for anyone else like he does for me.
Of course it's also been me who feels like crap when he decides a few nights later that it's wrong for him to stay over when we are not married.
emilyblue, I can see your problem. You are not stupid, you are torn. What I suggest you do is this. Next time there is an event which is the last straw (ie he treats you badly and you decide to call it quits), get really angry for what he is doing to you. Don't be upset - divert that into anger. Ring him up and tell him it's over with a brief reason why.
Next, go to your computer and start up a document headed, "Why I would be mad to ever see this man again." Then list all the mean and unkind things he has said to you lately, all the horrible things he has done and why your relationship can never work.
Everytime you start thinking of him in a positive light, read your list.

on behalf of linda and myself, i would just like to thank all of you.
for your wonderful replies on my other thread... http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/9/131562/1.ashx.
i printed your replies, along with the pms and emails i received, and.
Good to hear that Linda is comfortable at least. She is a very positive person which will stand her in good stead.
Love and hugs to you both - and look after yourself too Trev.

dear friends,.
i learned yesterday that a local co stated in his talk that comments at the wt study are to be from the page and nothing beyond, per brooklyn.
i wasn't there - this may be merely anecdotal and i cannot verify it at present.
There will always be the little old "sisters" who can be relied upon to add the slightly controversial comments, especially at the group study. They've sat through decades of having to keep their mouths shut while the "brothers" muddle around. No-one is going to stop them. Or does this only happen in Australia?

What a horrible, controlling person.
Glad you saw the light. If you ever feel tempted to go back to him, just get in touch with us again!! And your dad sounds like a wise man.

yep i got invited to the memorial and i'm not sure what to do.. last year they didn't even bother inviting me but the year before i went although i brought my own bread and ate it during the memorial.. this year i really don't know what to do but i'm leaning towards going.
anyone else?.
I've received my invitation too. I am surprised at how "mainstream" it seems. The front page could be any religion - except for the date as it's not Easter. So I guess it may appeal to some members of the public.
I've heard that although it is being offered to the public, they mainly want to target those who have associated in the past.
I haven't been for the last few years and definitely won't be going this time either.
