  Getting nervous

  i feel like i need to spill my feelings.

  after lurking on the site, i realize my story is like many here.

  the reason i am feeling nervous is that i have not broken the news to my parents yet about my inactivity as well as my standing as to what i think about this whole thing.

  They have been at my door about every other day.

  How annoying! My suggestion is to try and ignore them and hopefully they will stop their harrassment. I haven't had a call in years. Sooner or later they forget about you and move on to someone else.

  As far as my parents go, there is always that little nagging in my head that tells me I am disappointing them.

  Your parents are enslaved to a cult. You will be a disappointment to them and there is nothing you can do about it. The alternative is to remain a JW and you've already worked out that you don't want to do that. It will get easier over time.

  i do not attend the same hall as my boyfriend because he is currently reproved for being involved with me.

  i'm not a witness.

  he confessed to his elders that he had sex with someone outside of marriage after his second divorce was already final.

  I turned in my letter of resignation at my job today, effective at the end of this school year.

  This can't happen soon enough. You need to get away from this man as soon as possible. Don't leave your forwarding address. Change your cell phone number. In fact, don't even tell him you are going. JUST BE GONE. And do whatever it takes to get him off your mind.

  I went to the Memorial.

  i'm just going to start at the beginning.. i was anticipating the memorial all day.

  i was nervous but excited, kind of like standing in line for a roller coaster.. ok. so erika gets ready at her house, and i get ready at mine.

  i'm wearing a black suit with a light green shirt, and a tie that had hues of green and yellow in it.

  I'm feeling a little sad about how it turned out with your mum. In your previous thread I said I hoped your mum would give you a hug. I guess this wasn't destined to happen. I'm sorry about that. The indoctrination of the WTS causes people to act in an unnatural manner.

  most of you know i'm a jw; i irritate you enough defending the truth as i know it- yet i admit a lot of the foolishness that sometimes rears its ugly head with my brotherhood...today it was the circuit overseer!

  wonderful man; very caring, very encouraging, very zealous!

  all this disappeared as his head bobbed up & down - endlessly- as he read the plain, stereo-typical talks from hq...if it wasn't for my wife- and the wonderful friends in the congregation, i would've walked out in the first 5 minutes!

  If it wasn't for my wife- and the wonderful friends in the congregation, I would've walked out in the first 5 minutes

  This is what makes it difficult. Many in the congregation are genuinely nice people. One day you'll be sitting in the KH though, and the thought will suddenly dawn on you. What on earth am I doing here?

  thankyou so much for all the good wishes you have sent us in the last few days, trev has been printing up the emails, pms and threads, and bringing the cards to show me every day, and i get a lift every time i see him coming in with more of your lovely messages to read.. it's been a tough time for both of us, and it won't get any easier.

  i am dreading chemo, to be honest, but i have to bear it, as i would anything that gives me hope.

  but that's for monday, and i am going to enjoy myself as much as i can this weekend.

  i live one block from the kh.

  we were gone last weekend and i was disappointed to see that we'd been visited by the jw's.

  actually, they hit both front and back doors of our house.. a double bonus in counting time for some lucky doorknocker!

  I was very surprised to get one, is this normal?

  This year everyone has been invited to the memorial (ie all members of the public). There has been a campaign going for about the last month handing out these invitations. I think it's a bit strange too. My family explained that it's to reach those who have "slipped through the cracks", ie have associated in the past but no-one remembers them. It's the last chance to "come back in before the end." Haven't we heard that before?

  I'm Attending the Memorial

  my lovely girlfriend and i sat down over a homecooked meal, and discussed the pros and cons of attending the memorial.. i decided, with her support, that we would attend.. i spent years of my life pretending to be a witness to please my mother.

  when i left the witnesses, my mother said some hurtful things.. and those things really hurt me... for a while.

  but i established myself as my own person, developed my own relationships, and have gotten a good start on my own life.. i don't know that i want to hurt my mother back, but i do want to make it abundantly clear to her, my grandmother, and all the members of my former congregation, that richierich is alive and kicking.. and i think that walking into the kingdom hall, dressed respectfully in a suit, yet with full piercing jewelry intact, and with erika wearing something classy that steals the brother's eyes, and draws glares from the humble sisters, will be just the thing to send that message to my mother.. i don't plan on partaking or making a disturbance.

  Richie, I can understand why you want to go. Hope your mum comes over to speak to you and gives you a hug (sounds unlikely but stranger things have happened).
