Hi, it's me! I'm from Adelaide. It's possible, wozadummy, that our paths have crossed at a DC. Although I think 2000 was my last one.
Adelaide has its scary spots but mostly it's a quiet town.

welcome sparrow.. you're in good company here.. look forward to hearing more from you..
Hi sparrow, welcome. Hope you enjoy your time on JWD and we look forward to hearing some of your stories.
i have been emailing with a sister in my congregation regarding the qfr.
i told her i wasn't discussing it with most jws, because i didn't want to hear any of their "new light" garbage.
i told her this isn't new light; this just means that what we paraded out in 1935 as "new light" was wrong.. she sheepishly (no pun intended) agreed.
The May 1 WT is the current study issue and I've only just had the opportunity to discuss the QFR with some of my JW relatives. A couple of months ago they were trying to tell me that many of the original 144,000 must have become unfaithful (to cause so many replacements). Now they can barely remember that the WTS previously taught that the heavenly calling ceased in 1935 - except for replacements.
This selective memory syndrome is so frustrating. Even more so is their unquestioning acceptance of anything published by the WTS.
i didn't answer the telephone, i just didn ' t feel like getting all riled up as i have enough on my plate right now.. it was the same elder who showed up at my bedside while i was recently in the hospital.
i told the hospitals administration years ago to take my off the jw list for visitations.
so i was quite shocked to see this guy.
I'm a firm believer in not answering the phone if you don't want to speak to someone. You get to that point in life where you just don't need the stress.
check out what i just read in the july 07 readers digest pages 108-109 :.
"why do we say cheers when we clink our glasses?
the word cheer comes from the latin word face or countenance and originally referred to any facial expression, cheerful or otherwise.
"Cheers" to you too, changeling! It's good to be able to toast guilt-free these days.

as i had mentioned in a thread last week, my dad has been on my case about attending meetings.. i've been to one meeting in about a month and that's not counting the dc.
well he decides to question me before he went off to book study yesterday evening.
he asked if i was going and i told him no.
I agree with the others - try to remain polite and respectful. Your dad stopped going to meetings at one stage - he must have his own issues and possibly doubts. He may feel guilty that he hasn't set the best example at all times. Have you thought of having a serious discussion with your dad and asking him why he stopped going to meetings?
i posted this on another board on this site i didn't like the title and couldn't change it.
i don't think anybody wanted to read it because they thought it was actualy about baseball based on the title.
you'd be hard pressed to find a day between 1976 and 1987 that didn't contain one of my showstopping hyperactive bugouts.
michael, I really enjoyed your post and glad you redirected it to another title. Having no knowledge of baseball whatsoever, I completely missed it before. What a nightmare in your KH. Well, any KH actually - they are all similar. It's exactly true what they say - you can go to a KH anywhere in the world, the meetings are all the same. Some elders are worse than others though.

i was disfellowshipped when i was 16, i have completed a double major in anthropology and religion studies.
I'm looking forward to hearing your story, Ruby, especially how you coped and how you got to this point.
while posting yesterday i remembered the recording of my baptism talk i own.
i want to share the story with you: .
i was baptized on a circuit assembly in 1996. my sister gave me the recording on a tape the very next day as a gift (cute, uh?).
It's sad that people are made to feel guilty for something that is normal.
Marcel, I hope your fade is going well.
