Broken vases and other ways we are made to feel damaged

those of you who have been around here for awhile now about this.......but while talking to hubby today another detail popped in my head.my jw adolescence was troubled.

i stayed in trouble.i want to tell you guys about my jc when i was 15 and the subsequent talk that was given in front of god and everybody during the ministry school.well, i had sex with a boy.

not just any boy.

In some ways being "reproved" was worse than being disfellowshipped. What a choice:

Be repentant and have your "offences" described in detail to your family, friends and complete strangers and be made to feel like complete rubbish;
Be put in solitary confinement (disfellowshipped) for an unknown length of time until some old brokes decide you are worthy again to be spoken to.

And in both cases be racked with guilt for years about something which was completely normal - having sex.

No wonder many of us spent years in the wilderness.

Having the love and support from friends and family who are still JWs, hinges on how loyal you are to the religion---not to God or Jesus. This is where the emotional turmoil comes into play and it's how they keep the rank and file under constant control: If you want our love, you have to work for it.

Mother tells me to "F-off"

on saturday night my mother & i went for dinner, along with that we had a couple of glasses of wine.

she got a bit tipsy and he tongue loosend up.

she started talking about her ex husband & if she should get back together with him - i mentioned she must be careful as she wouldn't want a repeat of what she's been through.. she started saying "vok jou" which means f*ck you & that i have never been supportive of her and that - which is bs.

We had a chat, had some tea & sorted things out.

That's lovely! It always feels better to have things "sorted out." Even though the bigger issues may still be there and you can't change the past.

Last JW contact.

just received a phone call from a jw friend(unbaptised publisher).

we had previously planned for her son aged 7 to come and spend the day with mine.

when she phoned she said, 'he can't come, as he talks too much' he has obviously told someone that he is coming to see us on saturday.

That's sad, strawberry cake.

You could suggest to your friend that you see no harm in her son coming over to spend time with your kids. She might be able to rationalise it that way.

Unless you just want to move on and not subject yourself to the idiocy of it all.

That would have been a little embarrassing. The elders I know have the internet. And their families use it for lots of things other than going on WTS approved websites.

"They no longer attend meetings"

word has got our that mr. and mrs. truthseeker no longer attend meetings.. we still live in the territory of our old congregation.

instead of taking the time to call us and see how we're doing, the "friends" prefer to talk about us behind our backs, one of whom passed information to my wife's mother (who is a loyal witness) that we do not attend meetings.. just waiting for the ball to drop.. .

To say someone "no longer attends meetings" is preferable to saying they are "no longer a Jehovah's Witness" (which would incur immediate shunning).

Many JWs are on good terms with family members who are "no longer attending meetings."

i need to let you know that dad passed away this morning at 8am.

he fought so hard but in the end they could not get his blood pressure to rise and he died of heart failure.

well let's face it they make a fuss about panty hose, skirts, i was even counselled for sitting with my knees apart.. why should old women be allowed to wear men's (lesbian) short hair and beards too?.
