jgnat, maybe that is the approach I may have to take.....levity may work wonders.
You are a wonderful person and I have appreciated all of your information and work!!!

we have known behind the scenes for a time that this was being considered, obviously.
i just want to express my personal appreciation for what simon and angharad have done here on jwd.
i found jwd just a few months after leaving the organization, and kind of believing that i was pretty alone in the world at the time.
Thanks for everything Barbara, your work and information is priceless, trying to think of a way to present it to my wife, hoping she will take another english class, she almost wrote on childabuse for one class, had actually given her the silent lambs link, but she changed her mind and didn't look!!
Hopefully this board is still functioning when you make the release, if not there are already a few being stood up as 'sanctuaries for the refugees', people like me that need this support and information.
Simon and the rest of the mods were wonderful here, and I can see why he was finally pushed to his limit, even someone with the patience of Job has a limit!!!
they say that with any trip the destination's not important but rather the journey itself.
during my journey out of the wts and thru my time on this site here are some of the people who have caught my attention in one way or another even though i never really interacted with them.
i posted this list on simon's thread announcing that jwd was winding down but then i thought about it and decided to start a topic because i want to make sure these people see that i'm thinking of them and that they meant something to me even though we never met.
That is spot on, there are lots of aspects of this board that I will miss, friendship, advanced information, really deep research (leolaia) and quick access to past wts material. There will be other sites, but they will take time to mature.
I hope that there will be a place where the information can still be shared...there is too much that those of us who don't 'know the truth - gag' can gain from the insight and past practices.
i would like to support the "unbelieving mate" community in a new way, and if it is possible, help those who like me, fell in love with a jehovah's witness.
i'm considering starting a blog and a ubm network.
if you are interested, e-mail me at [email protected].
Hi jgnat,
Would appreciate it immensely!!!! Am in somewhat the same boat!
any tips on the subject book, my wife has this book out and it appears that it may be the book she is going to be reading to help her read the bible.
is there a copy i can download somewhere, any list of fallacies with this book or doctrinal twists??.
once again, any and all assistance is appreciated..
Thanks Atlantis, much appreciated. I am pretty sure she will be studying with a pain in the ass sister, should I offer to read it with her when she is preparing...my only concern is knowing my wife, she will not prepare very well and I may encourage her to prepare if I do with her.

though my wife has never been baptized, she has a shelf of wt publications as well as watchtowers and awakes.
.
are these magazines to be kept by a jw forever??
I have shredded a few out of frustration and then she has dropped the shredded paper off at the SPCA for animal cage lining, which is an appropriate use for the 'food'.
edited to add:
I could learn to make wt barf bags from amama!
as was pointed out at the circus a$$embly, people are leaving the churches in droves, yet only the constant increase in witless numbers was noted.. why is this?.
are we too dumb to realize that if somebody stops going to the kingdumb hell and starts living the way they choose, they are not really witlesses, and therefore no witlesses ever leave?.
or, as freddie f might have argued - bless his rotting dead heart - think of zeno:.
I think the recent change in the significance of 1935 may cause a drop in membership in many of the areas where people have access to information and also amongst those who have criticial thinking skills.
People should be getting a bit more critical and not just willing to nod there heads and agree with everything...but I often times underestimate the power of groupthink.

I guess placing old issues is like green field circus?? If a jw places an old copy of a mag, do they need to ensure that their has not been some new light which replaces the teachings of the mag??
one thing i really hate.
the wbts basically says that if your child does not grow up a productive members of jehovah's witnesses, in spite of everything else they may be capable of achieving, you fail as a parent.
this bothers me.
My wife's parents always sent her on a guilt trip when she talked to them....sometimes she would get wt interested, sometimes just extremely irritable, not really sure which was worse?
