  How is the WT unique?

  the org claims to be the true religion due to being the only ones correct on not believing in hellfire, the trinity, soul, staying out of politics, being the only ones to preach, etc.. none of these above are unique to the wt.

  hellfire/trinity are not subscribed to by christadelphians...most religions preach in ways other than door-knocking- my church has so many missionary outreaches going on my head spins.

  jws are the only org that counts their hours preaching.

  The above link provides a very interesting comparison between the JWs, SDA, Christadelphians and Mormons.....it shows just how non-unique they really are.

  My wife was surprised a few weeks ago when she found out the the JWs were not the only group that does not celebrate Christmas.......

  Their shunning may be similar to the Amish, but I think the blood doctrine right now, at least the way most JWs think it is, sets them apart (I think most JWs have no idea about the matter of conscience concerning fractions).

  I hear this same logic from my wife....the JWs follow the Bible closer than any one else......I guess the only comeback I have had is when the Bible is their guide, why do they need all the WTS prepared publications, and why is there a constant change in the interpretation of a book that never changes.....

  I am very interested to read the replies to this thread, thanks so much for posting it!!

  i told blondie i'd do the comments this week to help give her a bit of a break.

  this week's study is all about resisting the spirit of the world.

  this is nothing new really-----they've been preaching this for decades, but it still unbelievable how hypocritical they can be......... the study article is in black, my comments are in blue and unless otherwise noted, all scriptures are from the nwt.. .

  my wife who is studying with a jw, whenever i ask her a question she will respond, i don't know, i am still learning, you need to ask the elders about that..... she raises these gentlemen up on a pedestal....are there any special qualifications, what sort of training do they recieve, any background checks required??

  What I am amazed about then, seeing there is no real training at all, is when my wife's parents were having problems, she wanted them to be counseled by their elders....what good would that do other than making their issues most likely gossip in the congregation?

  Are they at least required to follow a confidentiality oath with respect to goings on in peoples private affairs?

  So now there will be a monthly 'Bible Study Saturday'...what joy...and I agree, the article on apartment witnessing was essentially advice how to sneak around the security that many people pay extra for at an apartment....

  as i announced some time ago, jwd as it is will not continue .... ... but .... it's clear from people's comments that they do like the site and many would like it or something else like it to continue.. one issue was the forum software that was self-developed and not really in a good state to hand-over to anyone but i've been working on that and can now reveal the first release of what will probably be called jwn (son of jwd):.

  it is still work-in-progress so not all features are enabled yet but it will allow you to browse the site in a similar way to this one and it is pointing at the same database (although because of the way the caching works, new posts made on this site won't appear immediately).

  why are you changing the name to .net?....why not just change the content and leave it .com?........

  I agree with oompa here, I doubt any of the rank and file, or for that matter, even many elders know who owns the KH......and really I doubt they care....do what GB says to do...that is all they seem to care about.
