TL, I agree with your take on the WT today, it seems they are setting up the rank and file for a new direction, will it be more controlling or more mainstream, with what I have read, it seems to be pointing towards the controlling aspect......

My wife was all fired up after the first day, in fact she is going back for it again next Friday.
I remember listening to AuntBee's recordings (thanks AuntBee) and it helped, at least I knew the Friday point of view. Last evening she was making a comment how she was wondering how the world was in the time of Noah and how it was because they just did not listen to the warnings.....

Blondie's Comments You Will Not Hear at the 07-12-09 WT Study (DAY NEAR)
by blondie in(b) pressing on to maturity requires effort in what two areas?
(read hebrews 5:14.
2:10) moreover, their perceptive powers are trained through use--through application of what they know--helping them to distinguish right from wrong.

Thanks again so much for your efforts on this.....my wife went to the convention yesterday, said nothing about the 'spiritual food' but said it was great to see a bunch of people....gives a lot of support to the thoughts that it is not the theology (hack hack) that is drawing her in, but the social aspect.....
They are sure hammering home the unquestioning allegiance to the 'faithful and discreet slave class', which my wife still believes is the anointed, that gets redefined in the next couple of months in the WT if I remember correctly from another post here.
You are great Blondie!!!

"Special" campaigns a cause of JW malaise?
by sir82 inone of the principal problems the wts has is, how do they motivate the rank & file witnesses to do more in the preaching work?.
over the past 3-4 years, one thing they have tried is a series of "special" field service campaigns.
two or three times a year, there is a concerted effort made to cover all the congregation's territory with district convention invitations, memorial invitations, "special" tracts, etc.. but, in effect, with these special campaigns comes along a subliminal message that the society expects, indeed demands, that it will be a colossal failure.. for example, consider the campaign to invite the public to the district convention.

Do the publishers make a 'donation - wink wink' when they get their stack of tracts?

Watchtower society cutting LOTS of corners to save money!!! $$$$$ List?
by Witness 007 incalanders cut to half their size...makes it hard to write your time in!
soft cover books replace hard covers, more wear and tear but less cost.
making a seperate watchtower for study saving on printing.

Perhaps they could further downgrade the Watchtower one level to toilet paper quality and sell it dual-purpose.
Would be a very efficient move, it is already covered with......

I guess they will never get to the point where the branch prints their own magazines, because that is a 'donation item' where there is a bit of cash flow.
How about items such as OKM, could that be locally printed to save brooklyn some $$.

Somehow, he did not emphasize the JW teaching that 99.9% of the world's population, including newborn babies and grandmothers in wheelchairs, are considered to be "wicked" and deserving of death, should Armageddon happen to come today.
He also seems to have forgotten to mention that "wicked behavior" includes things like celebrating Christmas, swimming in a YMCA pool, and attending a relative's wedding in a church.
I'm sure he meant to say all that, but just ran out of time.
Good points....I attempted to add this as a comment to the article.

Wife attending DC today.....
by insearchoftruth inmy wife is attending the dc today.
i know she will be all dubbed up when she gets home tonight and i was wondering if there are any comments or questions i can ask or is there anything i should be ready to respond to based on her attending.
i know that the theme is "keep on the watch", i have listened to the audio that auntbee so kindly provided and from what it seems to me, they are merely driving home the point that folks need to be more faithful in there service because even though we do not know when the end it, it is so very very close.

I always love your advice BTX, was thinking with the newer paper quality, the literature is almost toilet paper quality!
What is interesting is she was going to ride to the DC with the study sister, she drove herself and now at lunch rather than sitting around with them, she is off on her own....
Tomorrow she is not going to the DC, we have other plans.......
With respect to the end times, I always tell her the end may be close, but I live my life as a good person and really am not concerned about it, because nothing I can do would change anything. Enjoy the moment!
