how are the dubs reacting to swine flu?
by highdose ini'm just curious as the offical govement advice about swine flu is to stay away from public areas if poss and if you have swine flu to stay from everyone full stop!.
but my experiance of jw's is that they would go to the hall wether they were infectious or not.
many is the time i've sat behind someone coughing or spluttering away!

Another reason why the WTS warns JWs off the "net
by Lady Lee inwe know the wts says not going on the internet is for their protection.
yea yea i know.
we all know they just don't want jws to read all the real truth about the wts.. but what if there is another reason?

The study books, such as the Bible Teach do not even mention the faithful and discreet slave, 1914 or 1919 or that Jesus selected them.
I mentioned the 1919 selection by Jesus to my wife and she looked at me like I had a whole in my head.....so the husband of the study sister is supposed to be showing me this, using only the bible.......wow!

Aug. 15th WT- "Jehovah Only Loves Those Who Obey the Governing Body "
by flipper inonce again our lurking jw friend sent us this latest mind control drivel from the " witness only " watchtower.
remember - this is the information our jw relatives will study in their witness meetings at their watchtower study.
this is what they are currently being indoctrinated with.

I only hope that they try to over control my wife as she continues this 'personal bible study'......taking the fun out of her life may make her see some of the issues.....I am not sure though....

Very true Lady Lee, with the tools that the WTS has prepared, any JW can seem so knowledgeable when they come to your door, as long as they stay on the topic for which they are prepared......

Is the WTS preparing for a MASS EXODUS?
by passwordprotected inhobo ken and i were chatting about this yesterday.. the wts has past experience of losing vast numbers of members very quickly.
from their post-25 and post-75 experiences they will know how best to prepare their organisational structure to remain afloat when they experience another exodus.. we're only 5 years from the 100 year anniversary of ct russell walking into the dining room and announcing the gentile times had ended.
since then, millions of people have molded and adjusted their lives and personal expectations based on the date 1914. the wts must know that 2015 is going to bring with it one or two upset jws.... so, is the wts preparing for a mass exodus right now?.

What's the best way to reason with and help your wife to give up her JW religion?
by lifelong humanist ini dad myself 6 years ago, and was quite surprised that my wife (of 38 years) did not follow suit.
perhaps this is because her father and brother are still active jws, and she doesn't want them to shun her the way that they have done to me.. so, my wife is still a jw, albeit losing interest in her religion.
as far as i know, she doesn't even go door to door anymore.

Be the best damned husband EVER! Show her that non-JW's lead happy and fulfilling lives. Show complete respect for her religious choice while leaving bread crums that might get the wheels in her head going. Flies to honey, you know.
Thanks WD, need to be reminded of this approach......JW wife is not the real person.... Another tip, make sure if you are leaving bread crumbs, leave them when she is her authentic self....

in principle, i am against banning cults from college campuses unless they expressly violate rules of conduct that every student organization is expected to follow.

They are so well trained to get one to accept a conclusion without really thinking about the reasoning and steps to the conclusion. One of the techniques employed when one asks a tough question is to just wait and that question will be answered later in your study.....if one can build trust in little things up front, it often stops one from questioning major things later.
JWs are not stupid by any means, they are misled by a very finely tuned machine to stop them from thinking for themselves....

I can see an alternate social structure would be quite important, as they try to suck my wife in, they are trying to dismantle her current social structure. She is supposed to be starting classes in a classroom setting again in August, and is now talking about getting a part time job as well, hopefully both good signs....

Have tried lots of things myself, not sure what will work. Some days I seem to making progress, then two steps back.....I think showing unconditional love is very important, but quite difficult when not shown in return, because the org comes first......
I try to ask questions, there are some good ones on this board. Make her aware of strange little nuances that she may not know about, for example I asked her how the bible supports the selection of the JWs as the true religion in 1919......she said she will need to talk to her study sister for that....
Tuesday has some really good 'tough questions for JWs', not all of them will apply in every situation, but they have helped me do a bit of thinking here and there and formalate some ideas.
One thing I found that does not work, and was warned against this and tried it anyway, is a full assault against the doctrines....bible ping pong does not work when one has had critical thinking skills diminished........
Best of luck, hope we get some more ideas here and develop this thread....
