i am looking for "best-of" articles about jws and the watchtower society.

Would have to agree with the others that jwfacts is a wonderful resource, there are so many things I have learned from the articles on the site and whenever I have a question, I post looking for a reply here, and go looking at jwfacts as well......

okay maybe i'm a little slow but i'm finally beginning to understand how all the "new light" is tied together.
this has all been prompted for me by my reading of the 1914 chapter in "crisis of conscience".
see, the door to heaven which was previously closed in 1935 has been reopened.
What would be a good question to raise from this for the pesky sister that is talking with my wife. I have asked her about the anointed and the remnant class, can I use the reasoning book, which contains the old light and ask her that question and then use that to lead into a question why the doctrine has changed, or would I most likely get a bunch of dubspeak from her?
A while ago when my wife studied....gag with this same pesky sister I had asked her for a list of references from the trinity book, which she has never provided, in fact after I asked for that I never saw her again, well I reminded my wife I am still looking for the references....

I can not thank you enough for your service here, you have given me the ability to know what to expect the rare times my wife has gone to a meeting plus you have been a great source of helping me to understand 'watchtowerese'.
You have a knack for being able to look through all the bs and tell it like it is, and to help those of us who are not at all familar with the wts, see their writings for what they really are, dumbed down insults.....

Even though I work for the department of the Navy, I also do not support the current war effort, but I support each and every man or woman that is going into harms way or supporting the effort in any way, shape or form....most of the folks I work with that are active duty Navy do not support the war effort, but they are all professionals and do their job better than anyone else....I have spent time on many of the ships on trials and I have nothing but respect for our men and women in uniform.

It is amazing what will bring back memories of a lost loved one, a date, a song, maybe food or even something one says. Even as time passes, the loss of someone we care for is never all that easy to take, but having a great support organization is always such a vital part of healing. I am glad to see you got such wonderful support as you deserve for all the support you provide everyone on this board.

am still trying to come to a course of action to deal with my wife and her renewed zeal for the wts.
one new detail that i find interesting is she was assigned a sister to study with and the gal called somewhat early yesterday morning and my wife chewed her up and told her she does not want to study with her, she want so study with sister whatever.
i am sure that the sister that called was somewhat taken aback by this.. i think a slant i may be able to use is the anointed/fds since my wife really did not know anything about this and especially since she gave me the phone when she was talking to the first sister she knows and i asked her some questions and she confirmed that they were one in the same as well as how people can fall from being anointed by not be 'faithful'.

The 'where do you find in the bible' approach is what I think I may use on the occasions where I get a chance for a more open approach, and I am hoping to read the bible with her (can't study it of course...since independent study is not allowed - gag).

the wts is so anti-education now, saying the "end is so close" "deep in the last days" etc (tm) ...why have they not come down on having retirement plans?
i know many elders that work for big companies (younger guys in their 40s), they are planning for their future by investing etc....what!?
I was at about two hours of the DC with my wife a few weeks ago and I was listening to hear this along with the bashes on education since we are 'so close to the end', never did hear it. Would seem to be a match to almost everything else that they preach, but one must also look at the amount of money that the WTS gets from the estates of those "millions now living who DO die".

Agreed, but the fact is many of the active jw are not in the financial position to make a contribution to a retirement plan. My wife's family does not have one penny stashed away for retirement, and they are in their upper 50s by now.....guess hoping for the paradise earth still.
am trying to figure out the structure of the organization, what do terms like co, do, elder, pioneer, aux pioneer etc mean?
which of these positions are open to men....to women....are some of the positions earned by levels of service or are they appointed.
what are the perks associated with the positions?.
