Armageddon "WILL" be Here Before 2014!

i met a jw this past saturday, he was doing street witnessing, he told me that the end was coming.

i asked him when that is going to happen, and he told me that 2014 will be 100 years since satan was dismissed from heaven.

he told me that it would'nt make sense for god to let more than 100 years "pass before ending this world".. .

last week my wife and i were returning from a trip to the store and she starts talking about how amazing the bible is and how one should really not need to take any science classes, cause everything that one needs to know is in the bible.

she sites the creation story on how it is all in the bible that there was first water, then earth, then vegetation.........i really did not even know how to reply.

i asked her if she ever really critically read genesis for what it said, it is an interesting story, but there are many inconsistencies and even contradictions within the written word.....but of course she attributes that to the mistakes of man recording the information, since every word of the bible is of course inspired by jehovah.

I was pretty silent after this, really not knowing what to state.....and am still a bit perplexed. Yes there are many great examples of how one should live in the bible, but also many other examples that are not how we should live, multiple wives, holding slaves, stoning to death disobedient children and the often degradation of women...... She then spoke about how the bible is the only place where this sort of information resides, I asked her if she had ever looked at the Koran, and told her how many of the stories in the bible are paralleled in the Koran, well of course the Koran copied the bible.......

What is amazing is they will reference verses from all over the bible to justify their beliefs, many make no sense in context, some make no sense, even out of context, but I will watch my wife just nod her head and seem so amazed about how 'it is all in the bible'

Question on the doctrine of the JWs......if a person is studying with the JWs at the time of the big A, and has not been baptized.......are they not resurrected as well??????

Puts it all in perspective actually.......according to JW doctrine, really does not matter how you live your life if you can time your death prior to the big A.

A few years ago I remember a post where someone said that the salvation rate of the JWs door to door would be better if they just shot the folks rather than trying to pass off the literature and a bible study, then the folks would get the chance of the resurrection....

what was i thinking my entire life?

during the first part about submission, everyone gave the same comments about being obedient to the elders even though you may not agree with them.

and they talked about submission to the organization no matter what.. no one, i mean no one raised the possibility that the counsel or instructions might be wrong, or harmful.

Sounds like the drone that at least the JW GB wants, perfect submission......the WT has printed a book on the lesser prophets, when will they print one about the amazing women in the bible like Ruth, Mary etc.....
