hobo ken and i were chatting about this yesterday.. the wts has past experience of losing vast numbers of members very quickly.
from their post-25 and post-75 experiences they will know how best to prepare their organisational structure to remain afloat when they experience another exodus.. we're only 5 years from the 100 year anniversary of ct russell walking into the dining room and announcing the gentile times had ended.
since then, millions of people have molded and adjusted their lives and personal expectations based on the date 1914. the wts must know that 2015 is going to bring with it one or two upset jws.... so, is the wts preparing for a mass exodus right now?.

'prejudice may be sown by those( you can add those here) who deliberately promote warped views of other cultures (religion such as the roman catholic church)".. we should choose our associates wisely(if we associate with workmates or other religions we will be discriminated>disfellowshipped<).. don't get me started on p22 clergy-laity.. by the way i just read "blues brother wt 15/10/09-re d/f'd friends.now i am really pissed-off.. bob.

Whatever the Watchtower goes through in the near to mid-term future will not re-capture its heyday. It will splutter, see here-and-there growth (especially in 3rd world countries where even a motor mechanic can successfully start up a religion)
They may see some spurts of growth just after some unfortunate world events, like massive earthquakes or another large terrorist attack, even if the novel H1N1 flu gets really bad....but very short durations as the world goes back to status quo.
The hardest thing for me to accomplish with my wife is to show her that the world we are living in is not a bad place, in fact we are in a pretty good time to be alive.........unfortunately, that is not what the WTBTS is printing, so it must not be true....because you can never trust statistics....sigh.

the nearly 10% increase in partakers at the memorial in the 2008 annual service report is a huge increase.
there were increases in the previous years too.. this massive increase is no doubt attributeable to the 'new light' this year that the calling of the 'heavenly class' was not closed in 1935, as previously taught.
the new understanding this year is that the calling of the 'anointed' class is 'evidently' still open.

It is interesting that the JWs will point to the book of Jude as one of their supports for the Michael doctrine, and the book of Jude quotes the book of Enoch (which did not make it into the canon) which identifies seven archangels.

The NWT makes it a lot easier for a JW to communicate with a non-JW....I have noticed that when a JW talks to me, they attempt to draw me in by showing me where the bible I use has Jehovah in it, and then they offer to use "my bible", all along showing me how much more readable the NWT is, hoping to make the switch. I feel that they do this to try to lull one into feeling that the NWT is just another of many translations.
For a 'in the truth' JW, the reasoning book is quite valuable....
Not sure if the NWT is amongst the 'best' WTS publications (I have not read any of them with a non-critical view), but the NWT coupled with reasoning is amongst their tried and true 'weapons'.
