  i was just hopping the boards and came across this discussion on e-mans site.

  I always wondered way JWs treated women with the same distain Paul had. Where did this attitude come from? Looking into the bible, Jesus definately didn't view women as second class citizens. Mary Magdelane was a close companion and teacher who's abilities were not limited because of her sex. Also, in the old testament God used women for many great things i.e. Sarah, Ester

  I truly believe that all this sexist fuss comes from the original roman catholic church who formed the basis of so-called "religion". They were a bunch of fuddy-duddy old men with sexist attitudes who set the stage for the rest.

  JW Anointed get a free ride!

  so this always bothered me and i could not quite figure out why.

  it wasn't just the reasoning, it felt more like the motivation behind it was flawed as well.. according to jw theology, any anointed that pass away get resurrected to immortal life in heaven---- no more death or even the possibility of death.. the "other sheep", "great crowd" have to go through armageddon, behave righteuosly for 1000 years, and then pass another test only to receive.

  everlasting life of the mortal kind---- death is always lurking because if you screw up ---zap---- you're outta there.

  This was a huge issue that bothered me. Why would a God of love and justice allow us to have to suffer through living in "this system of things" just to suffer through the "great tribulation". Then a thousand years of somewhat paradise conditions....cleaning up all the debris from armageddon and teaching the resurrected ones just so Satan can be released and test us all over again. How unjust is this scenario? I never was able to swallow this piece of the ....! Looking back at it all, how can people buy into this stuff? For me, I was raised to believe it as truth, but as an adult I just couldn't accept this nonsense. Oh yeah, I forgot. We'll already know Satan's tricks so we can avoid them. Pleeeeeeeeease. Truth IS stranger than fiction.

  what happened to that great site that was supposed to go up in febuary?

  they made it seem like it was going to shake the wtb$ to its core, but i have not seen anything else about it.

  Alrighty then. I think you're only fooling your self if you think you're going to feel less depressed. Why in the world would you want to go back to all that crap? Obviously, your heart is not in it since you post and visit this board. What really is your motive for wanting to be reinstated? I'm with Orb. I don't get the reason for this post. Hope you have a happy life living a lie.

  Do you still call it "the truth"?

  do you find youself still calling it "the truth" even though you are an ex-jw?

  for instance, in one posting i just read, the poster wrote "when i was in the truth..." .

  not a big deal, perhaps, but really not such a good thing either as it's a habitual holdover from the program of mental conditioning we were subject to.

  New job New Life

  after all the crap of 2006 i will start a new job 01/0802006 for twice the money and i am leaving my hateful daughter behind.

  i know that sounds cruel, but all they have done is try to hurt me and i am going on.

  so to all of you out there just be yourself and get in love with life.

  Do you find the forum addictive?

  how many find that they need or want to be on the forum at least once a day?

  do you like keeping up with fellow posters and friends or do like being able to give your thoughts without the fear of being criticized?

  i look at some of the amounts that some have posted wow and i am no better for only being here less than a month, it is a great place to talk and get loads of wisdom from others on a variety of subjects, thanks everyone for the thoughtful expressions and heartfelt posts.. abr.

  I'm with you all. Totally addicted. I love to read all the posts. I am a bit shy when it comes to writing my own though. It just makes me feel good to know that there are other people who understand what I'm feeling inside, as most of you have experienced the borg and the trauma of leaving it. It's been a difficult journey for me that no one can understand unless they've traveled down this unfortunate path. That's why I'm addicted to this board.

  Confessing to the elders...

  has anyone ever had to confess their sins to the elders...left out some of the details or "other gross" sins...but wondered if you were truly forgiven of your sins?

  or was reproved and given back your priviledges but knew that you didn't tell everything.

  Are you kidding me? I didn't tell them half the stuff I was doing. No way! There was way too much on the line to lose. I just had to play their game. Cry a whole lot and each a huge serving of putrid humble pie. My elder dad gave me the advice to just act sincerely repentant and everything would be OK. It worked 4 times and then finally I DA'd myself.

  it was after i found this site in january of 2006 that i made my first serious list of resolutions and i actually achieved all but three...

  did anyone have to get dunked twice at their baptism because you still had your big toe sticking out of the water ????.

  Yes, I've seen people have to be re-dunked a few times because of some body part still exposed during the initial dunk.
