  hi all ,got my copy today read 90 pages already ,so far very interesting and an eye opener rutherford comes across as a very dishonest man and a dictator.

  I have to agree with your argumentation. I'm not a big fan of Ray Franz, though his book is no doubt a valuable tome in the process of extrication.

  For me Ray's biggest mistake in losing my respect was revealing (in the opening few pages of the book) that during his research for the Aid Book, he didn't find any historian to back the WTS's dates for the destruction of Jerusalem and subsequently the beginning of the Gentile Times. Yet he still went ahead and wrote the false date.

  His complicity in pushing forward that false date fairly chills me.He knew it was wrong, he says so in the book!!!

  His behaviour was very odd indeed. He knowingly underpinned the lie.

  SEVERE WEATHER WARNING FOR RUSH HOUR

  its getting frighteningly windy here.

  at the moment it is between 50 and 60mph but for rush hour in two hours time it is predicted to get up to 80mph gusts here.. outside one of my director's has just had a branch blow into his jaguar rear screen smashing it.

  our 20 story building a few doors away is beuing evacuated because sheets of glass are blowing in!.

  I don't currently believe that when i die it will be the end. That seems quite crazy.

  Was i alive before 1966 when i was born. Dunno about that.

  I believe that when we die it will be an "Oh yeah!!!....of course, of course, of course" sort of enlightenment experience.

  Whether i am reincarnated into another form is not something i'm clear about, or care about at present.

  I believe we are ALL here by choice. Yes even the ones that have really crap lives.

  Is Faith a Virtue?

  by definition faith is something we accept as true though is can not be proven.

  i was thinking about the scripture defining faith at hebrews 11:1 "faith is the assured expectation of things hoped for.... ".

  assured expectation = we are convinced something is true without proof.

  If i have a vague tendency to believe in Kharma, which i sometimes do, that is nothing to do with faith. It's just a belief. I just think it might happen. That's not faith. It's probably not even a belief for that matter.

  Faith as we are discussing here is (presumably mainly linked to the bible definition) something that has to affect the whole life pattern with a very dominating effect.

  Faith that is whimsical and namby pamby is utterly useless from the standpoint of Christianity, id est the resurrection hope. It needs to be strong and unwavering. It is a constant struggle to keep it where it should be.

  Herein lies the rub.

  To have oneself, nay make oneself be dominated by faith in something which is unproven is dangerous for the soul and we are ALL living proof!!!!!!

  How many people who had faith in the WTS and the scriptures have had their lives turned almost irreversibly upside down when they learned in was all damn lies? To break their fall many still insist on having faith in the patriarchal writings.

  Having faith in that which has no tangible proof is a very leaky boat to be on. The come-down will always be hard to deal with.

  Religious Faith is NOT a virtue.

  It makes people into crazed, evil freaks that blow themselves up, killing scores or even thousands of people in the stupid blind faith that they will be rewarded.

  Maybe it makes people in to 'nice individuals' but i'd rather be 'nice' from my own steam.

  'I have faith' = 'I am weak'.

  It is NOT based in reality but on fairies and Chinese Whispers. Anything having such a foundation is far from virtuous.
