Peanut gallery
A peanut gallery was, in the days of vaudeville, a nickname for the cheapest (and ostensibly rowdiest) seats in the theater, the occupants of which were all too willing (in the view of the performer) to heckle.
The least expensive snack served at the theater would often be peanuts, which the patrons would sometimes throw at the performers on stage to show their disapproval. The phrases "no comments from the peanut gallery" or "quiet in the peanut gallery" are extensions of the name, meaning the "great unwashed" should defer to their betters.
In the late 1940s the Howdy Doody children's television show adopted the name to represent its audience of children.

Tylin, you answered with the email support contact at the AWAA, yet you "don't want anybody to do anything."
Again, that is absurd. Why are you attacking me?
If you think that's the case, then report it to Simon. There are many intelligent people here who've been around the block a few times, and they see what you are doing. Mischaracterizing my remarks to suit your agenda is not helping. -

Wow. I'm asking about a post YOU made HERE. No need to contact support at AWAA, that is absurd for you to even suggest it. Then blame-shifting to the forum software?
Yes, the cynic in my wonders if they have really learnt anything or just want more info from people so they can "retaliate better".
Thank you Simon! That is exactly what Tylin wants me to do: Share my email so they can retaliate for noting disturbing comments THEY made on JWN. No one can help it if some — definitely not all — of the people involved have shady histories. The responsibility lies squarely upon them if they continue such antics.

Tylin, why did you create a link to JWN's homepage with the word "support" when it is not there on the AWAA website? Just curious.

by joe134cd innow i am going to do a rear thing here and i am going to stick up for the wts.
i realise that the wts hasn't got the best of track record, and sure they have made mistakes.
but if i was to go to another church wouldn't they still have the same issues.

Constructive feedback for AAWA leadership (IMHO)
by besty in1 - reconsider your existence - there might be a reason why the most effective resources to date have been solo efforts.
2 - recognize that even well-intentioned organizations will firstly seek self-preservation.
3 - be aware that egos and emotional stupidity have torn apart much grander edifices than aawa.

These are in no way AAWA's official responses.
So why post them? They are only how I would answer for the sake of discussion.
It's funny how Simon's suggested FAQs don't even address Facebook, but Tylin and another AWAA member here keep obfuscating with useless and often contradictory Facebook tutorials for days on end.
Really, enough about Facebook. It's not a legitimate platform to carry out AWAA's stated mission. End of. Period.
Facebook didn't "out" any faders, zealous AWAA members did. No tweaking of settings can fix their horrendous jackass response (or non-response). The Facebook blame-shifting only makes them look worse for it.There are hundreds of ExJW Facebook Groups and Pages. Each one of them is subjected to the same security issues.
Blah blah blah Facebook blah blah blah. Hundreds of other groups and pages are not the problem. Somebody stick a fork in that dead horse, because it's DONE. -

Was my effort with the UN so meaningless? Did it not matter. Does it not count?
Of course it counts! I cannot understand why you think it wouldn't. You oiled the wheels that helped ME and many others OUT. My belated thanks!I want to share something. A few years back, people here were kvetching about how that letter was eventually deleted from the UN website. Conspiracy theories about how the Watchtower somehow shut it down. AS IF. As if they had the power to censor the UN!
Well, I came to know an individual here in the NYC area whose claim to fame is programming the United Nations website. I just had to ask, and I made a fool of myself. He of course explained that it's a HUGE network of websites, multi-lingual, and they can't possibly archive every piece of correspondence forever to eternity. And here I was, about to ask him, "Hey mister, about that letter, could you put it back up?"
apocalypse, Please know that letter sent shockwaves throughout the earth and will continue to do so, helping JWs learn the truth about "The Truth" whether the UN continues to host it or not. And to everyone else: Please don't blame the webmasters at the UN, nobody at the WT cajoled or controlled them to take it down, it was just routine maintenance.
I am thrilled that you still have the original. Please guard it well. Can one make a difference?

Public Apology Nathan Natas
by Simon ini'd like to offer a public apology to nathan natas for making a wrong decision when i deleted him.. i allowed a combination of previous issues we'd had and input from other forum members to bias my decision which lead me to what i now, in hindsight, believe to have been a mistake.. whether you want to come back and post here or not i wanted to at least say sorry and will reactivate your account..

Can't they get their own website?
They have one. And they could very easily set up a "members only" PRIVATE message board there for volunteers, advisors etc. to communicate.
But they value attention-whoring over privacy, that much has become clear. The emotional approach over the rational one, with typical results.Ego.
NPD.
