i grew up next door to the jehovah's witnesses kingdom hall in monroe ny, which is now the village of kiryas joel.

i am doing research for a family history and i'm trying to get a picture of the kh before it was destroyed.

Arsonist strikes near Jehovah's building again

Firefighters doused burning construction debris and tires outside an empty former Jehovah's Witnesses building Thursday night — the third time this week they've put out a fire at the arson-plagued site.

Monroe fire Chief Jeff Mahran said about 100 people, mostly children, were standing watching the blaze when firefighters arrived around 8 p.m. to douse the rubbish fire on the property of the charred Kingdom Hall at — Mountain Road, just outside of Kiryas Joel.
The fire department stayed at the scene about a half-hour, he said.

At least seven suspicious fires have broken out inside the building since the Jehovah's Witnesses sold it a few years ago. The most recent incidents were on Sunday and Tuesday.

State police say they're investigating all the fires but have made no arrests.

For several years, NRDC has issued star ratings to each of the 200 popular beaches around the country. There were 13 beaches last year that received the 5-star rating:

• Michigan: Bay City State Recreation Area in Bay County
• Minnesota: Park Point Franklin Park / 13th Street South Beach Park Point in St. Louis County
• Minnesota: Lafayette Community Club Beach in St. Louis County
• New Hampshire: Hampton Beach State Park in Rockingham County
• New Hampshire: Wallis Sands Beach in Rockingham County

The star system awards up to five stars to each select popular beach for exceptionally low violation rates and strong testing and safety practices. The criteria include: routinely testing more than once a week, not waiting to resample the water before notifying the public when tests reveal bacteria levels violating health standards, and posting closings and advisories both online and at the beach.

THE NATION’S 11 “REPEAT OFFENDERS”

Over the last five years of this report, sections of 11 U.S. beaches have stood out as having persistent contamination problems, with water samples violating public health standards more than 25 percent of the time for each year from 2008 to 2012:

It is important to note that some of these beaches have multiple sections that are tested for water quality, and in some instances only certain sections of a beach qualified for the repeat offender list.

i"m listening to the 2013 dc green bay saturday talk on false gods.. the speaker says no one would knowingly worship false deities.

but could we inadvertantly give jehovah less than exclusive devotion he deserves.. he said:you have not allowed this deception power of sin to sensual desires, material comforts, pets, technology, entertainment or food to become objects of devotion to you.. anything that interferes with our spiriutal routine has the power of eroding or weaking our relationship with jehovah.. .

my dogs can erode my relationship with jehovah.

He never replied to me.

Then I got a Maine Coon.

ever since mitt romney turned the spotlight on the lds church a growing tsunami of disaffection has been accelerated and brought to a head.. the lds core faithful members are leaving in increasing numbers such that growth has not simply stagnated in the west but it has actively reversed.

to their credit the church is responding aggressively but not only is it too late, it is an impossible task.

N.J. Mormon community to build church in Newark

Many of the new members are first- and second-generation Latin American immigrants who have flowed into New Jersey, and elsewhere in the nation, over the past two decades, said Kim Smith, a professor at Brigham Young University in Utah, former Short Hills resident and past Scotch Plains stake president.

John Almeida, president of Newark’s English-speaking Mormon group, said about a third of all congregations are Hispanic, many coming from Ecuador, Brazil and elsewhere in South and Central America. Ramirez, for example, said he converted to Mormonism in native Peru before moving to Newark in 1979.

Presently, there are three different congregations in Newark: Portuguese, Spanish and English-speaking groups. They rent space in the Wilson Towers in Newark’s Ironbound, and stagger their Sunday services so there is room for everyone.

Ok EVERYONE- want to know who is going to be reading this website and others?

while everyone has been bickering back and forth, i decided to do something positive to move forward.

as most of you know back in jan our family marked us as apostates and started shunning us.. so i wrote to all of my congress-people and told them what is going on with the jw's.

i told them how they are breaking up families, teaching the children intolerance, etc.
