Sometimes people are just miserable, misery loves company, don't let it get you down. At least you can speak another language, you should be proud!

he would need to wear a suit and tie (from Banana Republic of course!). He would need to learn about "what not to wear", those awful skirts!

I go by Nikki, but my name is Nicole which means "Victory of the People".
i recently went to a wedding and the father of the bride that (re)married a (worldly) man said to me, "the only thing that i can say about raising our kids as witnesses was at least they got a good foundation.
look at our kids.
they're good kids".
It helped me get the sales jobs I had since I was 18, that was 14 years ago. Back when I used to have to cold call, (Ive been with the same company for 8 years now, so I do not have to do that anymore), it was not difficult for me to walk into businesses and sell sell sell...

the practice of shunning really is, unreservedly, my main problem with the religion.
i have come to this conclusion after many months out of the org.
there are, of course many, many other things that just pi$$ me off about the religion but this just gets to me, each and every day i live.. and yet, i have never experienced shunning in the manner in which is well documented here.
I left almost 15 years ago, just 18. I was an only child, and I had to be strong and leave. There was a period before I was announced at the hall that I was DFd, that I would get 20-25 calls a day when I retuned home from work, my friends, my parents wanting me to reconsider my decision. It was a shock to the congregation because I was the good little witness. But, once I was DFd. No calls anymore. It hurt alot but I expected it. The shunning thing pains me too, but as time went on, I felt alot better about it. I am sure I hurt my parents when I left but they hurt me too. My dad and I have not seen eachother in 15 years and has never met his 9 amd 7 year old grandchildren. My mom and I did not see each other for 8 years until she came to her senses and left the org too, she was DFd also. But, those early years (right out of the org) were extremely tough. I year after I left, I received an opportunity to move to Colorado, and that was great, I started my life over. It was refreshing. I eventually moved back to Illinois, for my daughter so she could know her family. I can only say that TIME healed most.

since most of us on this board have left the org for one reason or another, do you still feel a sense of spirituality to the great spirit?.
if so how?
if not why?.
No I do not consider that I am a spiritual person. I really do not know if this is good or bad thing, but I feel I do not have to have all my questions answered. I think about spirituality, or being spiritual, then it reminds me of being a Jehovahs Witness. Then I think about something else...

i know a lot of christians, not just jws, don't feel comfortable celebrating halloween.
for me, it's just an excuse to have fun.
are there a lot of you out there who have fun on halloween?
I love Halloween! I will be over 6 months pregnant by then, and I am going as a nun with my kids. I decorate my house and love every moment of it!!! I love trick or treating with my kids, (maybe I am the kid?).

my husband's company throws a big xmas party in vegas every year and we are going to go.
i have never been to a xmas party so i have nooooo idea what you wear and not sure how to act.
please help!
I also say, "WORK IT", and have a blast. Start looking for a dress now and have fun with it. What I do at my husbands Xmas party every year, Ive been going to his for 6 years now (except this year I am pregnant), I always balance glasses of wine and bottles of beer on my head (seriously), to make a memory. Every year everyone knows me as the girl who can balance stuff on her head, I think its nice to be remembered this way. I am sure it will be a bummer this year, people will assume I won't do it because I will only be drinking water, little do they know!!! Its truly one of my hidden talents...lol.
