Am I being too sensitive?
by mrsjones5 inok, this morning i was getting ready to take my 8yo to school, he normally walks with his older brother but his feet have been hurting him lately so he asked if i could drive him then he asks me if two neighbor girls can ride with us.
i said yes and after a few minutes i asked my son why they needed a ride.
he said because they didn't feel like walking.

No, I don't think you are being too sensative. I say or think the same way with my 12 yr old Haley and my 10 yr old Dylan. They both have friends that I think are completely rude and no manners. Yet, I make it known when they are around. I expect "pleases" and "thank yous". I am not here to be everyone's friend.
So far, they both have managed to weed out the kids that act like this. But, I am not with them 24/7, and it could be that I am not aware of some things that go on, guess I am just saying my kids are not perfect, but they have manners! At the same time, the kids with no manners wound up being the ones with major problems at home, we just find out later. Then I wind up feeling sorry for them!
But, manners are important, especially preparing for their adult life, you know?

BASHING the families of disfellowshiped ones
by Pistoff inas if the first assembly day was not bad enough, talking about the greedy, fame hungry witnesses who go to college and will not get blessings from jehovah, sunday was worse.. .
i could tell the wife was not happy the minute she came through the door.
after letting her get her "lemonade" in a glass, i said, "so, no rough talks today?".

Pistoff-
I left the org 16 years ago when I was 18. I sure wish I had you guys as my JW parents, the fact that you continued to support your children is absolutely wonderful. I appreciate this because I have not seen my dad the elder since 1992 (16 years ago). My mom and I have reunited only because she is no longer a JW either and they are divorced. But, my parents practically disowned me when I left the org.
Your kids have grown up fine, maybe they did eventually because of the love and support you showed them no matter what.

Drama Topic for 2009 DC. Here's the scoop.
by Open mind inooh, ooh.
who wants to know what the drama's about?.

I was in the modern day drama back in 1987 or 1988 at the DC in Chicago (I think I was at Hawthorne or Sprotsman racetrack?) and I played a worldy girl named Dolly Winters, I had a "crush" on a JW boy named Randy (part of the story), in the end Randy got Dolly to agree to a bible study, how perfect! I remember being out there dreaming about actually leaving the org, I had wished I was Dolly Winters....hey, I was 13 years old!
I wish I could remember the name of the Drama, my mom and dad were in it too, they played a JW couple that had marital problems, had to actually yell and scream at each other...it actually was a fun time for me, I was a kid, it felt good at the time to be asked to be in it, you know?

To Davids Mother-
Thank you giving us a "little" tid bit about your son David. I could picture him while reading your post, its a great trait to be able to make people laugh. Although, I am what you call an apostate, I truly am sorry for your loss but respect your beliefs of hope to meet with him again.
I respect that you posted here and told us about David.
Take care Davids mom!

How Do YOU Handle Busybodies?
by minimus inwe all know elders believe they have the god given right to ask any question they want, especially if they are "investigating" a matter that could be "judicial" in nature.
but not only elders are known to ask personal questions.
i've seen elder's wives ask inappropriate questions simply because they were "elder's wives".

I have in-laws that are busy bodies, and I am so sick of it, that it seems to work if I just say "mind your own business, there is no need for me to explain anything to you". Why did they have to know why I needed to brush my teeth before I went to get an ignitor for my dryer?
Yes, its a bit rude...but it works with them.

Do You Look Smart?
by compound complex inhi neatly-attired friends [i'm assuming]:.
i wanted to see if clothes-care matters have changed any since june 18th of last year.. do you do drip-dry?.
do you press clothes for money (i have)?.
-
Nowman
Yes I drip dry my husbands clothes, some of mine because I don't want them to shrink up
I hate to take clothes to be dry cleaned, I take that, I like the return of dry clean clothes because it had been so long since I dropped off that its like having something new to wear
No press clothes for money
Yes I mangle the laundry sometimes
I think a tip for looking smart, is just being yourself and having confidence
Did I help you with your study?

I feel Adam will win, but really impressed with Kris Allen singing Heartless the other night...I am very happy about the final 2. Although, I thought Danny was great, I just did not think he was the best. This is probably my favorite Ai year, haveing been watching since the 2nd season.

My mom had told me about Silent Lambs, which then led me to freeminds.org, which then led me here...I don't remember my 1st post...but I do remember being highly addicted to coming here, it was Feb 2006 and I joined, and kept coming back..I needed to know more about this religion that I grew up in...I know more about the org now then I did while growing up. Reading the stories here made me feel better, this site helped me get rid of guilt and finally face the reality that growing up that was not right.
