Instead of giving a talk, just make a small sign that reads "This talk has been postponed. Sorry for any inconvenience." and leave it on the platform. If they can't figure it out, no talk would've mattered.

Should we evaluate satan's thoughts, to see if we agree or not?
by DavidChristopher inshould we just take others word, and blame everything on him, without seaching and trying to see if there was a reason for what he did?.
is there a chance, he could have been doing what jehovah wanted him to do?
or was he meant to be a "fall guy" for us?

A lot of questions in short order. A good book to reference might be Mark Twain's Letters From Earth. For those who might not have read it, it's somewhat of a dialog of "The Devil" after having visited Earth. Funny stuff. Just like us.
Taking Satan as he is described, does his reasoning really matter? Could we understand it anyway? I mean, if he were to explain to us that the reason he did what he did was because of a schizm rift near the antiquity of the Well of Souls that caused a cascade of nemorite stratalneges. Would we understand what he just said? (Ootsfray Ooopslay?)
The only way that we can see Satan (wow, just like God) is thru ourselves. Not a pretty sight.
Is THE GB Satan? No more than the Pope, the Secretary Genral, GB, or the Girl Scouts.
Are we supposed to protect others from destruction? I think the secret is to realize that you're already dead. A friend of mine called me the other morning and in a spasm of good cheer admonished me to , "live this day like its you last!" As deadpan as i could, I replied, "Well, then I'm sure the f*ck not going to work."
Until we can unshackle our minds from God, Gods, Satan, and all of the rest of the hooey we've died for throughout history, and realize that it is up to us, just us, and nobody else, it doesn't matter who the spook de jour is or why. Because we'll still be running around in the same tiny little circle, "staying the corse. Rounding the corner."

Is another Global Cataclysm overdue?
by Gill inno matter what religion or era, the human race has always been obsessed with an 'impending armageddon, or cataclysm' of such proportions, that only a few will survive.. it is thought by some 'thinkers' and 'authors' that this is because of cataclysms that occurred thousands upon thousands of years ago that wiped out our technologically advanced ancestors.. .
is religions' obsession with another huge cataclymic event, an inevitablility, such as meteor strike or earth crust displacements causing multiple tsunami, the armageddon that is the inevitable interruption to another human civilisation?
a global pandemic could wipe out billions of people.

Meek inheriting the earth?
by dozy inthis question is really aimed at those who have exited jws but still retain a belief in the bible.
what did jesus mean here (mt 5:5)?
when i ask "christians" this question , they usually have no idea.

Its just another puffery of BS designed to sound good and mean nothing. You know, kind of like, "Whatever you ask in my name..." In the intergalactic dictionary, the second definition for "Human Being" is "slow learner".

Toxic substances in our food
by greendawn indo you worry about pesticides and numerous other toxic subtances that find their way in our food eg plasticisers, and heavy metals such as mercury in fish?
do you think these are responsible for the increase in cancer diabetes and other diseases that went up explosively in the last 70 years?
populations still living naturally in primitive setups rarely suffer from such degenerative diseases.

Eating right is important, but I doubt that many generations of eskimos got a lot of fresh veggies, but they seemed to survive. The problem doesn't seem to be our diet as much as our way of life, as I wonder if the weight gain for a Doritio crunching coach potato is different from that of a Tofu crunching coach potato? Are the preservatives in our food harming us? No doubt. I suspect that a thousand years from now archeologists will dig our bodies up and marvel at our cultures expertise with embalming techniques.

by Oroborus21 ini have no interest in pontificating on this matter which to me seems so straightforward.
however, since i continue to see newbies and others periodically post in error stating that the wts "owns" tobacco company stock i believe that this should be corrected and the matter put to rest, hopefully for good.. .

Scully, spot on!!! Your reasoning is complete, all the apologists can do is duck and cover. Eduardo, nice lesson on Stocks & Bonds 101, but you should be working for the White House. All that you described was what president's call: Plausable Deniability. That is where questions concerning the morality of a president knowing something ("Well, I'm not a crook!") disappear as long has he can maintain the sham that he didn't know anything about it. (Go rent The Lord of War, you'll enjoy it) We're not talking about a couple of overworked, stressed out, R&F husbands and fathers here, this is the FDS. These people eat, breath, and sh*t numbers. Their entire religion is based upon numbers; but we're supposed to believe that these guys didn't know where the money was comming from? Puh-leeze. These weiners can tell you down to the quarter hour how much field service time has happened on this planet, how many pages of printed material they've published, it's rumored that one can "eat off" the floors of the printing factory because they do everything "just so", "as to Jehovah!" Except, we're supposed to believe, when it comes to their money. Uh huh. These people claim to have a direct pipeline to God, y'mean He didn't tell them? What's next, gonna take some cash from Larry Flynt, because, well "Flynt" is a common name, and, uh, we just didn't know. Besides, maybe he was feeling religious that day?
See, there was this friend of mine who went on a personal fasting one time, matter of fact, the fasting went on for about a month. And just when he was at the end, you know, the weakest, this really cynical, bad guy showed up and tried to get my friend to toss in the towel. This bad guy offered some food, but my friend wouldn't accept anything from this guy. So the bad ass, who is really clever, told my friend that he didn't have to accept anything from him, why, my friend could just have some of his own bread. As a matter of fact, he offered my friend rulership over all the kingdoms of the earth if he'd just take one bite of his own bread. My friend told that asshole to stick it, something like, "man does not live by bread alone."
And these dirtbags in Brooklyn are following whom?

Is wanting to be God like wanting to climb back into your mother?
by DavidChristopher inis the goal the beginning or the end?.
was our rebellion nessesary like a mama bird kicking the babies out so they will learn to fly?.
does god want us to be ambitious and intelligent?.

DC, I agree, they should show the rest of us. Its interesting that most people apparently don't do it because they say, "Oh, that will never happen." Which it won't, know why? Because they said it wouldn't. My point is not that everyone should drop what their doing and hold hands and stuff, because that is a silly notion. My point was in reference to what you asked about God wanting us to have knowledge and progression and so forth, to become ever increasing entities. It cannot happen, will not happen, as long as there is one person who suffers an injustice.
Do you realize that it costs about 3 million dollars a minute to advertise on the Superbowl? To do what? Sell cars? Financial planning? Soft drinks? Beer? Tacos? One has to admit, theres a lot of people being employed and fed and clothed and housed off of that 3 million bucks; but, please, tell me again how that is "progression"? Please, I'm really, really curious, how is the world one iota better because there is another Lexus in the midst of the afternoon traffic jam? I could tell you (but you already know) how the world is made just a little bit better when the six year-old in Sao Paulo is rescued from the spider hole in the city landfill that he calls home (because his parents literally threw him away when he was four, although he can barely recall it), and he is given the first full, healthy meal that he can remember in his life. Do you realize that there are TV stations in the mideast (primarily Iranian and Palestinian) that show commercials (Public Service Announcements, really) aimed at children 5-7 that extoll the virtues of a suicidal, martyr's death, for Islam? What the f*ck are we gonna do with these people in 10 years? But, look on the bright side by golly, we now know there is water on a moon of Saturn!
Again, your question is legit and should be asked. Please, don't stop asking your questions, they make me think.

I'm not sure, but my answer will probably get me in trouble, I've been worrying with this question all day. Someone mentioned theatre, and I was reminded of that scene from Gladiator where Maximus is limbering up his swotrd arm just before the afternoon show at the colussium where he's going to whack a couple of heads for the enjoyment of the Roman Mob, and he says to Oliver Reed, "Marcus Aurelius had a dream that was Rome, this is not it. This is NOT it."
Distraction is so easy today, its our society, our way of life. We are amusing ourselves to death. We westerners live in a lap of luxury never before experienced in the history of man, all the while polluting the shit out of this planet and frivolously using up our resources, like taking 5000 calories of energy to produce a 1000 calories of food. We've bred like rats because our intellect taught us how to make an abundance of food using artificial but finite means and methods, and, so far, the weather has agreed with us. Did you know that in Darfur, there are groups of women who, each day, strap their babies onto their back and walk for miles trying to find enough food to survive the day. An article in the Washington Post told about how so many people have been reduced to eating termites in order to survive. People whine about God killing 6 billion people at Armegeddon, but he doesn't have to do a thing, we'll do it for him, and be so pleased with ourselves in the process. So we can talk about destiny, and philosophy, and morality and shite like that because we've got full stomachs, and time on our hands. To what ever sense and direction we choose, we have that utmost of luxuries: the ability to have faith in something. Why, somebody will figure something out, things will just go on.
Maybe so, I certainly hope that is true. But did God make it this way? I don't know, I wasn't there; but, if he did, he is one sick son of a bitch. Does he want us to learn and explore and examine and be curious? If he exists, of course he does (why else build a cosmos?). But I think he intended for EVERYBODY to do it. But there isn't much we can do, I mean, the system has been set in motion and it's not like anybody could Fed Ex a loaf of bread to Ethiopia or something. Right? Your question is legitimate, and a good one, but sometimes I think the whole book of Job was not about whether man might keep his integrity if the face of adversity, or any of that crapola, it was Satan saying to God: look, I don't care what anybody does, these f*ckers just ain't gonna get it! It doesn't seem to matter how far into the night sky we can fly, or look, or how high the buildings are that we make, or how intellectual our thoughts, because if there is just one starving person, one single child who dies a needless death anywhere on this orb, we have missed the whole point of intelligent existence.
