I've been told that you can count on one thing; constant change. How many other religions have so many changes? Anyone been associated with any major religion; Catholic, Protestant, Jewish, Hindu, Buddist, etc., etc. that changes gathering times, study material or anything else? Once the District Convention of JW used to be SEVEN DAYS!!!!!! The Sunday meeting included a short break between talk and watchtower study; where everyone visited and talked among themselves. Literature at the Book Room had a $ amount assigned to it and you paid for whatever you were getting. Can you imagine anyone wanting to take off 7 days for a Convention NOW? Does anyone have a job? Year round school for your kids? Budget doesn't even include a yearly vacation let alone 7 days at a hotel in a strange city 50-100 miles away. Poor dumb bastards who keep getting jerked around! New meeting arrangement - just over 5 months to go
by passwordprotected inat the recent dc the new meeting arrangement was mentioned just once, but not to give us further details on how the new meeting will be structured or how the r&f will be cared for.. .
instead the audience was urged not the second guess the gb, being advised to look at how well the spirit has directed the org up until now, so therefore it will do so into the future.. .
but the reality is the congregations are only just over 5 months away from this new meeting arrangement, yet they know little about how it'll actually affect them.. .

Obves correct! Yearbook 75 says BABIES who take blood won't live forever!!!
by Witness 007 inyearbook 75 p.223-224 witness couple and their 6 day old cheryl, who needed blood.
"darell and rhoda correctly viewed blood transfusion as a violation of god's law, and thus oposed it.
they were concerned about the babies welfare, for everlasting life is only the prospect of those adhering to god's laws.

The baby's chance of everlasting life is endangered. So another maybe/maybe not situation which can drive a person insane! It all sounds like a game where the participants have to do what SIMON SAYS. Screw up and you are out of the game! Why do they care! The "Society" people word these regulations as if the only thing a person can do is worry about everlasting life. What if no one wants everlasting life? Jehovah would have no worshipers? Q FROM CALI.

My youngest Brother (dfed) is a poster child for my jw family
by sosad ini have eight siblings - three hang on to being jw but live their life, one is in the circuit work, one is unbaptised, and mentally challenged, two of us are faded for at at least 18 years and one - the youngest has been dfed twice.. he is 25 now, was dfed as a young teenager originally and went back only to get the boot again.
there was a very definite km a couple of years ago - he had been dfed for a couple of years by that point - and he was kicked out after my parents came home from that meeting.
the funny this is, they had been separated for a few years and had recently reconciled.

Why in the world would Jehovah create blood sucking creatures in the first place? Surely he would realize the chance of one of them or all of them would, given the opportunity "feed" upon human blood. Mosquitos, Bats, Leeches and while lots of wild animals don't suck the blood of humans; lions, tigers and other predators eat humans whole, blood and all. I didn't read all the replies to this thread, so if someone else came up with this- Sorry! Can these people split hairs or what? SQ Calif. USA

Emotional Blackmail and Jehovah's Witneses
by Lady Lee ini posted this way back in 2002. with so m,any new people here it might be time to continue the bring it back up with a few changes.
"any reasonable/god-fearing/humble/etc person....".
but money is used to control people or better stated the lack of money keeps people tied to a promise of future rewards .

What COULDN'T You Do Because You Were A Jehovah's Witness?
by minimus ina witness cannot question anything from a critic's point of view.
wondering aloud why the watchtower says a certain thing can get you in trouble with the think police (the elders).
what things can you think of that are taboo for jws??

Great Question! Learning about all the small regular daily life things we were forbidden to do was like being in a room with ever shrinking walls around you. Until you barely had a few inches to turn around, with everyone watching you, waiting for you to make a mistake. As a child: no flag salute, no birthday cupcakes in the classroom-sent to the principles office to wait while all other children had their cupcakes., no valentines exchanges at school- I would stay home on that day to avoid the left out feeling., upon return from Holidays such as Thanksgiving and Christmas, at school, we had to write about our experiences at home- I never had any- always got a bad grade on this writing assignment. As a teenager: No dating, no prom, no parties- just get-to-gethers with crowds of JW teens in the extended area or skating, bowling with all parents in attendance. No extra activities at school, no joining of clubs, bands (music), no concerts, no R rated movies, never going anywhere alone but always with a chaperone. No trendy clothes, no short skirts, no long skirts, no ragged jeans, no spiked hair, not too much makeup, no cussing, no fighting, no excuses. As an Adult: Missionary sex position only- no experimental stuff. No orgasm. Didn't now what an orgasm was! No drinking alcohol-much, no parties where silliness and fun were present, no R rated movies, no expressing opinions in mixed company with elders etc., no tatoos, no multiple piercings, no trendy hair style, no flirting, no associations with anyone in KH who did not have the elders approval. There's lots more- I think I missed my entire life. I still can't even use my real name here although it would feel great. I did get guilt and lots of therapy. SQ Calif. USA

Sounds like your dedicated JW wife forgot the bible directions to be a quiet and mild spirit while winning them over without a word. By her actions she has shown her true quality/spirit. Same with you; a quiet and mild spirit may win her over! Stay open minded and seek freedom. SQ Calif. USA

Service is so easy now
by coaster ini just knew the gb would find a way to keep on going when the end never seems to come.
well, new light shining brightly we all recently learned that the 144k are still being selected.
no more need to "graft" new ones onto the broken branch.

SuzieQ
Stay with me here, but the JW/watchtower group has never said all the 144,000 heavenly chosen had been selected; have they? And if they still haven't be selected; how would this make door to door easier? Mostly people who come into the group are not of the 144,000 let alone the faithful and discreet slave class. I've been out for 11 years but this is my understanding. Please correct me if need be. SQ Calif. USA

I hate Walmart!
by Elsewhere ini rarely ever set foot in the place and will go out of my way to avoid shopping there.
tonight i made the mistake of giving walmart the benefit of the doubt and walked in the door.. they didn't have the main item i was looking for, but they did have one other small item.
i headed to the front to check out only to find they had only a few check-outs open and all of the lines were far too long.

Yes, your scenario is correct. The line are long regardless if you buying a lot or a little. It's not worth the few measly dollars of savings on just a few items to constantly shop there. I guess Walmart is the same everwhere. We have 5 walmarts within 25 mile radius! They are inescapable! SQ Calif. USA

All current JWs: What is this?
by AuldSoul inthe bible students in 1918 numbered very few, fewer than 6,000. within three years, the number tripled.. the "intriguing subject" they proclaimed from 1918 through 1922 was "millions now living will never die.
" upwards of 70,000 attended to hear this message proclaimed in germany alone.
the talk series had a longer title, "the world has endedmillions now living will never die.
