Many of us, especially those raised as a JW, took a lot for granted. It was coming to us from those we trusted, our parents.
We were pawns. We had not yet come to know better. I don't fault the ignorant pawns, for I was once one.
parents are naturally concerned that their children not make the same mistakes they did.
the society seem to be worried about the power of this impulse to protect one's children.
page 161 of the new book live with jehovah's day in mind reads:a dampening of our expectation of jehovah's great day could reveal itself in the advice we give to our children or to others.

Warlock, that would be an example of the WBTS taking responsibility for their error.
Can anyone recall one instance where they have done that honestly and straight-forwardly?
I sure can't.
for me, i think it's their hypocrisy.
they lead (the vast majority) a double life.
and ultimately they look down on anyone not a jw yet they won't even wn up to it.
The double standards, hyprocrisy and atmosphere of power, position and prominence seeking.
*** awake!
quote.
if you are a young person, you also need to face the fact that you will never grow old in this present system of things.
Looking at the WBTS in the light of their own standards is very enlightening, but the average JW's mind
has been programmed to apply WBTS standards only to others and never see the blantantly hypocritical double standard.
"True, there have been those in times past who predicted an 'end to the world,' even announcing a
specific date...The 'end' did not come. They were guilty of false prophesying. Why? What was
missing? Missing was the full measure of evidence required in fulfillment of Bible prophecy.
Missing from such people were God's truths and the evidence that he was guiding and using them. "
(AWAKE!, Oct. 8, 1968 p.23)
A more accurate reading:

i have been reading a book my hubby recommended to me- man's search for meaning - by viktor frankl.
very good book.
he is a survivor of nazi concentration camps and it's not just another grisly tale of horrors of cc life.
Why get to know board members in your area personally? It could help you through your transition and bring you new friends.
Many are going thru what you are. Others are further ahead in their journey. Some have made the transition entirely.
Learning with them and from them can be very benefical to your successfully breaking away from the org.
large numbers of jw congregations are going to be trouble long before they lose their last elder to death or resignation.. most congregations i know have at least one - and often several - elders who can barely function at all, due to illness, old age.
or just plain inability to accomplish anything.
the society seems loathe to remove these men, despite their 'elder in name only'.
I remember my mom conducting the bookstudy for a while back in the 70's.

One congregation here has 4 elders. The PO is relatively new to the area and is a major butt kisser. The
original PO stepped aside due to family issues and moved away. The butt kisser took full advantage of this.
His hypocrisy drove away the only elder on the body that would'nt take his BS. All the rest were yes men.
So now he has total control. Now 2 of his yes men are moving away and there are no MS to replace them.
No elder from any of the other congregations is willing to leave their congregation to serve with the butt kisser.
my mother has just been preaching to me for over an hour (the usual circular reasonging: i have the truth - if i have the truth they will oppose me - they oppose me - so i have the truth...).
the one point she seems to have is the thought that god has a people to serve him.
the bible does speek of him using individuals, but most of the time he also has a special people.
I had a similar discussion with my mom using the same circular arguments. I asked her a question
she couldn't answer, which quieted her down.
The Watchtower says the annointed FDS has been on earth continually providing spiritual food, generation after generation,
since 33 C.E. That means that by the time Russel was born, they would have been on earth for over 1800 years.
So who were they and why didn't Russel consult with them to get his questions answered?
Did the FDS back then consider Russel an apostate for doing bible study and starting a religion independent of them?
IF not, why? Would the FDS class today? If so, why?
when you look back at it, what got you to slow down?
?
When I realized .....
"Prominent men" in the org get offended when they aren't treated like royalty.
Repeated cases of cowardly elders hurting others by their lack of love and blantant injustice.
The beauracratic, unloving, arrogant, unapoligetic attitude displayed locally filters down from Brooklyn.
Sitting at meetings and listening to men preach what they themselves weren't doing became unbearable.
Going out in service meant hypocritically, telling others to ask questions about their religion when I would
be labled an apostate and DF'ed if I ask the same questions about the org.
Going out in service meant lyingly telling others how loving, caring and Christ-like the org is.
What I was taught as the "truth" is far different from what Russel taught as truth.
The WBTS changes their literature and doesn't reprint older publications in an effort to cover up past mistakes.
That "increasing light" was a crutch and an attempt to insult a persons common sense and intelligence.
The so-called "friends" are conditional and will turn their back on you if told to do so. Even if they know you are totally
innocent.
The individual is unimportant and totally dispensible, no matter how many years or how much time they have devoted
to the org.
finally...Franz's books and forums like this........the real truth about the truth.
I have effectively cut off 98% of association from JW friends aquaintances. They made it easy
by backing away when I stopped attending. I don't have any family in the org, so that's not an issue.
I've read Franz's CoC and am half way through his second book. I can really now
understand why things are the way they are in the org. For the first time in my life
I'm interacting with people without my vision being tunnelled thru a rolled up Watchtower.
