Jehovah's Witness Cemeteries
by Kenneson ini recently stumbled upon a site that indicated a jehovah's witness cemetery.
i wondered if there might be others?
i conducted a search and voila.

One thing that struck me about that cemetary is no headstones, just flat things on the ground. how typically low-key, nothing that so much as smacks of any pride or images or symbols or anything that could be construed as flashy. sooooo JW

Its a Wonderful Life-----share your JOY!
by anewme inthis is a thread to share the good things in your life since leaving the jws .
let those lurking and those contemplating leaving know that life is great outside of the org!
i'll start: .

Was never in the bOrg myself, but...
one thing I'm thankful for is that I have, on a handful of occasions, had sex with two women at the same time, and that one time one of them was the babysitter. ("dear penthouse forum")
Sometimes when I'm feeling down I think of that.

What is the best question to ask a j.w. during a Bible study?
by hubert inlast year, i dropped by my daughter and son -in-laws' house just when they were having a bible study, and i was invited to "sit in" on it, and be an observer.
i didn't ask any questions, because i was not prepared for this event, so i "behaved' and just listened.
if i would find myself in this predicament again in the future, i wonder what question i would bring up that they would have difficulty answering, to show how the watchtower lies to new converts and worldly people when teaching them?

I don't have a good question to ask (fortunately, my parents divorced when I was young and I went to the non-JW side of the family -- phew, close call) as I'm remarkably ignorant as to what is actually in the bible.
One thing is worth mentioning though, if you do choose to challenge a JWs beliefs in any way, do so as gently and kindly as possible, for a variety of reasons.
One is that you will have a greater impact on them if you do not "attack" them or their beliefs. JWs are used to being attacked and have automated mental defences against it. Best not to get their guard up, then they might accidentally listen. Mind control is largely about social protocol; The more they identify with you socially, the more impact you will have.
Another is for the sake of human decency. That poor sap actually believes that crap, otherwise there's no way s/he would ever tolerate the crappy predicament they're in. They're a victim, and victims need help and compassion.
Best thing to do is just ask them questions they can't answer. Be as gentle as possible and call them brother or sister, join them in their quest for "truth". Don't necessarily agree with them, just suggest that their version doesn't quite satisfy and maybe they should study a bit more. Make clear the distinction between them as individuals and the WTS. Let them recite WT BS, but know when they hesitate to answer or stumble over their words, you have successfully planted the seeds of doubt.

Survey: Are JWs superstitious?
by osmosis ini've often noticed various superstitions in my aunt & uncle.
for example, on at least two occasions i remember my aunt talking about blood transfusions and when actually pressed on the matter, she resorts to an argument that is essentially superstitious, something about jesus saying the life force was in the blood or something.
and they actually believe that there are demons, so therefore there are certain things you shouldn't touch or look at, like outsider information.

This is one of the clever ways they are easily manipulated and kept ignorant by the bOrg.
Most of these superstitions are tied into the bible somehow, so it seems likely to me that ALL true JWs are roughly equally superstitious.
Yes? Comments? Experiences?

Sending all the JWs all alone on a big island.
by greendawn ini sometimes wonder wouldn't it be a good idea to gather all jws in the world on a large island somewhere isolated in the midst of the earth's oceans and confine them there so that their desire to be separate from the world will be fulfilled?
the world will also be spared being pestered by the fake gospel they preach and no more ppl will be victimised by this cult.
finally, the dubs there all alone will be able to build up their own society without interference from outside and we would then see how suited they really are for a new righteous world.

What a hilarious concept! We could even ship them some lions and lambs so they can try to make them get along.
Here's what I think would happen. When they first get there, they'd be elated, they'd think they had finally found real paradise. Of course they would immediately implement their "high control" structure, and with no door-to-door work to do, they could spend extra time at the KH. If the island was small enough to get around on foot, there would be no industry, just a mindless slave class farming, praying, and serving their theocratic overlords. With no printing presses, the brainwashing would have to be word-of-mouth.
But eventually reality would creep in. Human nature would creep in. There would be power struggles, especially in the GB. One of them would eventually figure out the real truth, that might makes right. That person would kill the rest of the governing body and seize control, then rule with an iron fist.
Then the religion would erode somewhat. With actual physical control of the island, the new king wouldn't have to rely so much on the brainwashing to control the slaves. When they stepped out of line he could just hit them. The religion would still be there though, to reduce the frequency with which the king has to hit people, because he's getting old and his arm gets tired. However, with no outside world to contend with, the religion would no longer have to change.
Eventually the slaves would become irate and there would be a civil war, albeit a real sissy one.

SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT re: Riley Trust Tobacco Compan Stock & WTS
by Oroborus21 ini have no interest in pontificating on this matter which to me seems so straightforward.
however, since i continue to see newbies and others periodically post in error stating that the wts "owns" tobacco company stock i believe that this should be corrected and the matter put to rest, hopefully for good.. .

Perhaps if they donated the cigarette portion to, say, the american heart & lung association, this inane thread wouldn't even exist.
