flipper, I agree totally. The WT organisation will become smaller and nastier.

July 15th WT out - Coming out Swinging at Apostates Hard
by LostGeneration inthis is one of the most aggressive watchtowers i think i have ever read.. four study articles on not "following the crowd" not following unrealities(page 13) not following false teachers, meaning apostates of course(p 15).
avoiding false teachers means "refusing to read their literature, watch tv programs that feature them, examine their web sites, or add comments to their blogs.
(para 7, pg 16).

It could be for children. And sd-7, I agree, it will make it harder to state things in a devious indirect way and could be counterproductive.

May 15th WT - WT society uses Fear & Guilt to Prevent Materialism in JW's
by flipper inonce again , i couldn't resist sharing this wt study article from this issue.
it was just too good, or bad - depending on your perspective.
you will see the use of fear and guilt in this information - laying it on witnesses heavy as the title says " christian families - " keep ready " indicating armageddon is so close - so don't get wrapped up in materialism.. right from the get-go in the 1st paragraph fear tactics are used .

I swear the Watchtower publications have turned into a parody of themselves. Every time I see a thread with a month name followed by "15th WT", I know I am going to see something ridiculous.

JW superstitions about the memorial -
by james_woods innow that we are all thinking about jw memorial - i was just remembering all the silly superstitions the jws have put around this - their only holiday.
as far as i can tell, none of these are actually biblical:.
1) - it must be held only once per year.. 2) - it must be held on "nisan 14".. 3) - it must be held after sundown.. 4) - the bread must be unleavened.. 5) - the wine must be plain (not fortified) red wine.

If you take Numbers 9 seriously, you would also have to postpone the Memorial celebration if you were ritually unclean on account of your contact with a corpse.

Actually I think I do remember something about this. I've looked around and I think this comes from Numbers 9. http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Numbers%209&version=NIV
2 Chronicles 30 may be relevant (http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2+Chronicles+30-31&version=NIV).

I don't know about make-up memorials a month later. I've known of cases where the emblems have been taken to someone on the next day because they were too infirm to attend. (Because the day starts at sunset in the Jewish calendar, it is still Nisan 14.) I also remember sometime direction was given that this shouldn't be done. Although it is an academic point now, because there are no anointed left in the local area.
I wonder at what point those claiming to be anointed ceased to be in the majority. I wonder how they felt to see their numbers dwindling.

Even when you think you're out, you're not...
by undercover insometimes we debate about which is better - to fade...or to da/get dfd.. there are pros and cons to each method.
faders like to say that they're not playing by the rules and can still associate with family.
daers say that they are totally free and can speak their mind and celebrate their holidays as they see fit with absolutely no retributinos.. i see the advantages of both sides and understand why one chooses one path over another.

(In the UK) could records of who is disfellowshipped be in violation of the Data Protection Act?
See Section 10: Right to prevent processing likely to cause damage or distress
http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1998/29/section/10
Encouraging shunning by friends and family would certainly cause distress.
Thus, the existence of records of who is disfellowshipped, along with the clear policy of how they should be treated, is an abuse of personal information, and illegal.
This could be a possible legal recourse for those affected by disfellowshipping, on this forum and elsewhere.

Could recently discovered codices prove once and for all that Jesus died on a cross?
by truthseeker inthis find, if genuine, is significant.. http://news.yahoo.com/s/yblog_thelookout/20110330/ts_yblog_thelookout/could-lead-codices-prove-the-major-discovery-of-christian-history.
how would the watchtower react if evidence suggests that jesus died on a cross?
this would mean they lied to millions of their members saying that the instrument of jesus' execution was nothing more than a stake, an upright pole.. .
-
stapler99
It doesn't need to be proved. No one outside the Jehovah's Witnesses entertains the possibilty of him having died on a single plank or pole.
