Brain Science Teaches You How to Fade Away As a JW!!!!
by metatron inso, you feel trapped as jehovah's witness and want to get out, but don't know how?
you keep agonizing about your witness family.
and "friends" ( trust me, very few witnesses are really your friends, since their friendship is entirely conditional on meeting attendance.

hey metatron I'm curious as to where you found this material from (what publication). I would like to follow up on in. I'm reading the book 'Expecting Armaggedon - essential readings in failed prophecy' edited by Jon R. Stone.... what a fasinating book. Your findings would help to explain the reasoning of people who continue to believe in a false prophets (any false prophet from any religion) despite solid empirical evidence to the contrary. thanks

Life IN or Out of JW's suck
by Smoky ini've been keeping tabs on my old congregation for the last 3+ years (i dont even remember when was the last time i went to a meeting) it is not easy, i have joined a site named 'bebo' and have a handfull of so called 'friends' in my network.
mostly from my old congregation, they seem to acknowledge my existence, but keep there distance.
no one ever invites me to anything or to hang out.. time flies and things change.

I couldn't agree more with the various replies. Ask yourself, what 2 things could I be doing that can have a significant impact on my life? Then ask yourself, why am I not doing them? You need to take control of your life and you can do it man.

meh, you're alright. WOW! You're this dumb: 21%! You're all right in my book, still alot dumber then you should be, but not a complete waste of space. Take pride in the fact that your still smarter then most people. i guess that means that 79% of my brain is working... I wonder what the GB's would score??? I wonder if it is more fun being a doorknob or a complete waste of space???

How long did it take you to get over it?
by AK - Jeff inone of the posters here - before i knew she was a poster here - in fact before i knew of this site at all, sent me an email early on in my exit.
she likened the whole leaving thing with grieving over a dead loved one - said it took most about two years to work thru all the phases of that loss - denial, anger, etc.. i think she had it about right - that's about how long it took me.
but without jwd it would have been longer.

Well, I'd say I went through a prolonged and painful leaving process. I noticed things weren't a 100% in the late eighties and everything just got worse from there. I finally started separating myself emotionally around 1999 to now. (I felt the disllusionment around the late 90's and the anger for the last few years. Bear in mind I wasn't getting involved in discussion boards until this year unfortunately. If I had been a bit more diligent earlier on, I could have saved myself alot of grief. I look back now and have to shake my head and wonder how I could have been so blind. But for what it's worth, I'm glad I separated myself and life really has been alot better.

Last Resting Place of Charles Taze Russell
by Dr Jekyll ini was doing a bit of research for the apostate team that's going to circumcise the top of russell's pyramid by taking its top off and making off with it.
checking out some maps of the location i fired up google earth.
for those of you who want to see this do the following make sure you have "google earth community (unranked)" ticked on the left hand side in the layers section.

Please don't damage the tombstone, it serves as a example of how cultish and wild the societies roots are and also a wakeup call for all JW's to look into the organization's past. If you damage the tombstone, it takes away a little of that evidence of the societies past. One day this year I will go to Penn to take pictures to show some of the friends (I'm still in the organization).

took three test 153, 149, and 142 but not in that order. It also depends how tired you are as well (wide awake or after a hard day at work)

I agree with dabatgaly in that to too many people, the false prophecies don't really matter nor the doctrinal inconsistancies. Look at the catholic church. I just had a interesting conversation with another brother on this subject and he was interested more in the association and hanging out with other witnesses than the accuracy and truthfuliness of the oganization. He mentioned 'who would he hang out with if he left the organization?' 'Where would he go if he left the organization?' He is not really a deep thinker and this pretty much discribes the majority of witnesses (most haven't a college education nor experience in critical thinking.) So yes, the organization is a bit of a social club to him where he gets some spiritual comfort and some social activity. Ultimately, the numbers will decrease but there will always be people coming, sort of like the mainstream churches are experiencing now.
