it is really outstanding the transformation of persons who were associated with jws from neutral subjects to outright warmongers, especially those who used to profess brotherhood with christ.

while everyone is entitled to their opinions on matters of world politics, but to foster and promote bloodshed and destruction in the name of peace and pre-emptive defense runs jarringly against the grain of anything called christian.. .

What I find interesting is that the God of the old testament was quite active in war. He sent out his army (Isrealites) on numerous occasions and made it quite clear that it was HE who was winning the wars and was in charge.

So....along comes the new testament and all of a sudden war is bad. Jesus & God are "one" (John 1:1) and so think as one, etc etc.....so why would Jesus have a different opinion of war than God??

Regardless.....I hate war but there are definately times when it must be done. However, I don't know about a "pre-emptive" strike against Saddam - I also would like to see some evidence first. I really don't want to send our boys into war without knowing for sure.

Ethical question

hi all.......i've been around for a while, i love this site and the people therein, and appreciate the tremendous amount of work simon put's in (simon sorry couldn't make it sunday, but let me know about next time).

i don't post much but take a avid interest in peoples views etc.

after over 15 years of da'ing myself, i only reached these sites a few weeks ago, and since have engorged myself on the info about the org and their lying ways.

There are a number of JW sites that allow non-JW's to post also. You can honestly sign up on one of those sites, being careful how you word questions & responses so that you are not lying about your current status.

For example:

I have studied with the JW's but still have questions (true answer), or I am currently inactive (again - not a dishonest answer), or my favorite I have family that are JW's and I have this question....(see...it just takes some careful thought to how you word your questions and responses).

Im better off

many of us here, are not sure what the future holds, if there is a god, and if so what is his purpose.

i too fall into that category, but i think im better off now because when i was a dub, i always wondered if i was doing enough to get into the new world.

i worried about if my children would make it and if i was taking the lead for my wife and the cong.

A non-JW friend once quoted to me Jesus' words "My yoke is kindly and my load is light" - then said, "if the yoke you are carrying now is not kind or light then it's not Jesus' yoke - so you need to figure out just whose yoke you're carrying."

Now THAT was great advice for me. It helped me break free from the guilt.

MS Rat,My Dad , Elder and Betrayal

most of you know about the story of the ms who ratted on wildturkey and me for smoking at the club, he smoked one of my cigs and was there with his girlfriend (he is married).

well, i ran into him last night at the club and confronted him,, i asked him why he told on us, i just wanted to know, he said he didnt know why, he just felt pressured..i asked if he told on himself he said no!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i wanted to slap him right there.

This slimy pond scum of a MS could be making some of the info up - scum-suckers like that will try anything to stay out of trouble. He might have said some of that stuff about your Dad being involved to distract you - to keep WildTurkey from beating him up. I sure hope that's the case - it is soooo much more painful when family stab us in the back. Then again....mind control at it's finest has produced even more suprising back stabbing episodes.

I would LOVE to be a fly on the wall when you send a picture of him smoking to the body of elders (YEEE HAAAA!!!)

Why did I really leave?

so i was working alone the other day and my mind wandered back into the past.

there are things that we do that we do not understand untill years later.

i read about the heroic efforts some make to leave the jw's and i read about the noble reasons that many have for leaving.

. I do not feel guilty now and I am thankful that primal desires were far stronger in me than years of indoctrination because the course that I chose led me to freedom from the prison of the WTS.

When did you realised that everything had changed?

in life, there are certain pivotal moments when you realise that every thing has changed dramatically.

it's a breathtaking and overwhleming feeling.

you may think back to who you were on this day a year ago, compared to who you are now - the contrast is incredible.. i find change in viewpoints and thinking evolves slowly, over a long period of time, you dont know the change is taking place until one day, you realise for one stunning minute that you are everything that you never were.

I realized I was no longer a JW in my mind when the guilt was gone.

I was trying to make a decision one day and I remember thinking that I wanted to make the right decision so I wouldn't be living with guilt. Then it hit me - the guilt from being a JW was gone. At some point it had completely dissipated and I didn't even realize it until that moment.

When I no longer lived with that guilt is when I knew I was truly free.

what this board has done..............for me.. i've only dropped in intermittently over the past month or so - and thought maybe now would be an appropriate time to point out some of the things i have gleaned from being here over the past year.. for several years after being df'd i still had that nagging thought - "what if it is the truth...what if i just have a bad heart...what if my kids die at armageddon because of me, what if, what if...".

i was still in chains.

then i came here and found:.

what this board has done..............for me.. i've only dropped in intermittently over the past month or so - and thought maybe now would be an appropriate time to point out some of the things i have gleaned from being here over the past year.. for several years after being df'd i still had that nagging thought - "what if it is the truth...what if i just have a bad heart...what if my kids die at armageddon because of me, what if, what if...".

i was still in chains.

then i came here and found:.

What this board has done..............for me.

I've only dropped in intermittently over the past month or so - and thought maybe now would be an appropriate time to point out some of the things I have gleaned from being here over the past year.

For several years after being DF'd I still had that nagging thought - "what if it is the truth...what if I just have a bad heart...what if my kids die at Armageddon because of me, what if, what if...". I was still in chains. Then I came here and found:

1) About the UN scandal.

2) About the abuse scandal.

3) About the JW History and false prophecies.

4) About brain washing and cults

5) About the flip-flopping on doctrinal issues

6) Interpretations of scriptures that makes more sense.

7) People who understood why I had questions - what I had been through - and how to break free.

8) Stories from individuals who had already been through what I was going through, and

9) Hope...as I could see that others had not only survived - but healed and were living happy lives.

10) People that I could share my stories with that really understand the meaning and depth behind them.

So for all the mud slinging and arguing that has errupted lately - I am STILL so greatfull to have found this place because I have been able to mine out those nuggets of gold that helped me break the chains!

ok here's the deal..... i've not had much to do w/ my parents since jan '02 when my mother and i got into over her force feeding my 3 year old the "troof".

when i respectfully ask her on behalf of myself and my non jw husband, to respect us enough to let us teach our child about religion.... her response was "well if you don't want her around our religion, then don't bring her around us".

and during the course of this conversation she stated this in the most hateful of tones at least 4 or 5 times to both me and my husband, in front of our daughter.... well i was furious.... that she would say such a thing and openly chose to have nothing to w/ my daughter.. without being given an ultimatum<sp> to choose.

Hi Worldly Girl:

My advice would be to do what you truly believe is in the best interests of your children.

It is really hard sometimes for us to do what is right - emotions get in the way, either we love and miss our parents so much that we'll give in when we shouldn't - or we are so angry at them that we refuse to allow them to see our kids when we should. Both circumstances can happen. So the best course is to sit back - try to extract yourself emotionally for even a few minutes and look at the situation objectively - then decide, if you were an outsider looking at all options, which one would you recommend that is best for the children.

In my instance I really wanted to not let my parents see my kids for a long time because I was so angry. But my son had already developed such a deep attachment to my parents that it would have been really damaging to him to cut all ties - I had to learn to deal with things and combat their "preaching" in other ways. When he came home from their house we had a little "post decompression session" [;D] where I would explain why Grandma & Grandpa say certain things or believe certain things. In the end, it all worked out for the best - I was able to mend my relationship with my parents and help my son from falling into the cult trap - but that's only in my case. I am sure there are other situations where not seing the grandparents at all is the best option.

Just be sure to make your decision with your children's interests first.

another shunning experience

vivamus' post reminded me of some of my shunning experiences and one i had recently.

twice i have been doing yard work in the front of my house and my "annointed" jw mother and her car group have pulled up and parked right there in front of my house.

they get out, dressed up, bookbags, literature.

A few times the "car group" has pulled up in front of my house to let my mom run up and use our potty. Strange hu?! I always smile and wave at them - but of course they're all looking the other way. It's too funny.
