she categorically denied that they ever made such a claim.

If you repeat a lie often enough, people will begin to believe it!

Is the "torture stake" dogma a reverse idolatry in itself?
by JWoods inwitnesses have famously (and gleefully) tossed the usual christain "t" cross symbol overboard after having used it themselves for quite some time.
one common arguement is that "if christ had been shot by a rifle, you would not worship the image of the gun" -.
and yet, they do not shy away from insisting on the notion of the upright torture stake.

It is interesting that the blood that was sprinkled before the mercy seat by the high priest was in the form of a cross. There are other items in the Bible and Judaism which point to a probable symbolic meaning to the form of the thing that Jesus died on.

"we all know the blue whale is the biggest fish"

LaidOff Bethelites: Weeping And Gnashing of Teeth
by metatron indon't let any of the watchtower's propaganda deceive you.
i encountered some private conversations among witnesses about the subject and it's ugly.
yes, there is suffering as many of these victims try to live on charity and can't find jobs in the worst economy since the depression.. some of their private observations include shock that you need a college degree for nearly any job and that the watchtower society couldn't have picked a worse time to do this to them .. all the while these complaints are discussed, i try not to show that i am astounded by their bizarre "logic".

I remember about a 4 years ago a coworker (non-JW) expressed his concerns to myself (in the bOrg at that time) and a JW "friend" that his two daughters, who had become "Witnesses" and were working at Bethel, were not getting a good education. This "friend" of mine told him not to worry, because if you are trained at Bethel you can find work ANYWHERE when you leave! Even then I almost choked on my sandwich. I later contacted that man and told him what a load of rubbish that statement was, and to do whatever he could to convince his two daughter to leave that place ASAP.
I hope he succeded.

Jehovah's Witnesses - A Hijacked Religion
by B_Deserter inthe more and more i read about the history of the witnesses, the more i don't see them as one in the same as charles t. russell's religion.
i think the religious movement from 1874 to 1916 was completely different than the one from 1918 to now.
rutherford is the real founder of jehovah's witnesses.

In my own examinations I have found C.T. Russell's understandings to me MUCH more in harmony with Scripture, than that of Rutherford. Also, the teachings of the Society of today have actually changed little since the final days of Rutherford. Those changes have been further distancing from Scripture, and into the darkness of conjecture and control.

The Watchtower Society's Corporate Strategy for the next 5-10 years
by yadda yadda 2 inlike any big business/corporation, the watchtower must make strategic decisions and plans for the future to survive and grow.
what is the wbts's 5-10 year corporate strategy?.
the current prime directive of the wbts is clearly expenditure/waste reduction through operational rationalisation.

Implosion from within. The seeds of revolution among its ranks have been planted for some time, and are growing rapidly (as this and other similar websites attest). The Watchtower Society will strive, like a cornered beast, to maintain control through various means (more likely, much stricter controls). But its demise WILL happen. Those in bondage will be set free, shortly.

How many of you knew about the"Jesus is not your Mediator" teaching when you were JWs??
by Lady Liberty inhi everyone.... just curious how many of you knew when you were active, about the societys official teaching regarding jesus the mediator.
i was floored to find in my research, that they teach jesus is the mediator for the 144,000 only.
and it is only by our association with them that we might have salvation.. i don't know about you guys but i was blown away when i learned they taught this.

I was in there since the early 70's, but probably did not realize that until about the early 90's. I remember that I did not totally agree with it, but like so many other things, just kind of accepted it on faith (in the Org).
Later, when I learned the REAL truth, this other lie really bothered me.

What "blows MY mind" is the fact that they swallow all this from the Organization, and do not open their eyes. What a shame.

Worshipping Jehovah without all the rules?
by ptucker8357 inhi again.... i've been searching around for a few days now trying to understand whether or not there are spiritual folks out there who believe some of the fundamental tenents of the witness religion, but don't believe in all the rules that the gb puts forth... many of the folks that i talk to tell me that the only way to salvation is through acceptance of jesus as god.
i do accept jesus as the messiah, as a perfect man that god sent to atone for the sins of adam, but i don't believe he is god.... i believe there is one god, one son and one holy spirit and they are not three persons in one god... i feel weird whenever i go to another service that exalts the trinity, as well as some other basic rituals of their religion.... am i making sense?.

It IS interesting though that the tetragrammaton DOES appear in the original Aramaic manuscripts of the NT.
I would argue that those manuscripts reflect the original writings closer than the Greek translations.
