Isn't it interesting that to the society......anything from depression to being transgendered can be, in their words, "fixed" by having a different mindset or just by going to others in the congregation for guidance? They are truly Witless!

stephanus, I don't know where the information is located but from what I remember about people who have had a sex change operation their stand is that the person could not be married to a person that was born of the same sex as they were born as. In other words, if a man changed to a woman.......he could not be married to a man and vise versa. They would require a divorce, if such were the case, feeling that since it is an unholy union it in itself is enough of gross sexual practices that a divorce would be in order. As far as dressing as the sex a person were changed to and being accepted for baptism or privileges I don't remember their stand.

What are apostates?
by mindfield infirst off, let me tell you that i don't view you guys, or myself, as apostates.
that word somehow carries along with it a negative sense of destruction and hate.
what i'm wondering is, what is an apostate then?

JW:
Reasoning Book, copyright 1985:
Astostasy is abandoning or deserting the worship and service of God, actually a rebellion against Jehovah
God. Some apostates profess to know and serve God but reject teachings or requirements set out in his
Word. Others claim to believe the Bible but reject Jehovah's organization.Websters Dictionary, copyright 1998:
a total desertion of or departure from one's religion, cause, party, etc.
If you think about it, almost everyone alive is apostate to something. All the ones that left their original
religion to become a JW is apostate. As is anyone who goes from being Democrat to Republican. Or, as in
my case, I am apostate because I no longer put my garbage into the recycle bin. Anyone
disfellowshipped is also apostate. When I was in the Borg I thought that all apostates were actively working against the Society (it never
entered my mind about them working against Jehovah, only the Society). But by the Websters definition
everyone who does not do what they once did, is apostate. Interesting. -

I emailed the Thailand Bible Society and here is their response:

From: "Thailand BIble Society" < [email protected]>
Subject: Re: Contact TBSThank you for your enquiry. Thai Bible of standard version which all Thai
Christians are using is our copyright. And we manage the translation,
printing and distribution under the supervision of The United Bible
Societies.Watch Tower requested our permission (with copyright paid to us) to print
the Thai Bible of 1948 version (very old) while general Thai Christians and
churches use 1971 version. This is the only activity we did with Watch
Tower.God bless you.

Subject: Re: Contact TBSYes, they have our permission to reprint a number of copies for the reason
that it is the Word of God which changes people's life. What they printed
is the original version of our copyright. There are no changes in the
translation and language in this version. We do not know where and who they
are for. But for Thailand Bible Society, we also joined them to reprint a
number of copies for the sake of the elderly people in Thailand who prefer
the King James Version.Recently, we have received 'questions' from a few people about Watch Tower
printing Thai Bible. What happened ? -

aren't the 144,000 all dead by now?
by rcranor inif you were born in 1914 that makes you 86 years old.
so your pretty close to keeling over already.
but that only makes you 14 around time of annointment so that seems a little ridiculous.

I was talking to my husband about the 144,000 thing a couple of months ago and he brought up a point I had never heard of before. He said the scriptures say 12,000 out of the 12 tribes of Judah (? hehe, long time away. LOL) Anyway, according to him, the 12 tribes are no longer the 12 tribes. With time and inter-marrying, they are no longer a "pure" tribe. If that is the case.....my question to the Witlesses would be......of what tribe did THEY come from? I don't remember ever hearing of which tribe they were from. And if they feel they are all 12 together......how can they prove that?
Regarding the new light. New light only happens when they change their thoughts. Saying it is new light makes the masses feel secure that it is still from Jehovah despite total turnarounds on the matter. I tried to explain this to my parents (he is a MS) that when the light gets brighter and brighter, it makes things clearer. It does not change things. I do graphics with PSP. I used that as an example. I told them....if I have a fuzzy picture and I see something red sitting on.....something (not clear yet) but I KNOW it is red. I keep making the picture clearer and clearer until I can see what the red thing is. I see that it is a bunch of bananas(? How can this be? It was red). I see a bunch of yellow bananas on a table instead of maybe an apple (?). That cannot happen. Same thing happens when you have your lights dimmed in your home. As the light gets brighter an object only reveals what it is but does not change shape or color or....................sheesh!

What are the Governing Body Doing Now?
by ISP inthey resigned as officers of the wts and made way for a generally younger crowd who took places in a multitude of legal corporations.
the idea was that they were to concentrate on 'spiritual things'.
well the un-ngo fiasco didn't indicate they had their eye 'on the ball'.
-
DazedAndConfused
I personally think they still have the same role as before......Dictating.......just the names were changed to protect the "innocent"? I think they are still doing the same exact thing as always, just for "legal" reasons had to "resign". I'm sure nothing has changed.

I can really feel for the position you are in. As with you, I want my family out of the Bog so bad I can taste it. But I have realised that I cannot do as the Witlesses do and bombard them with my thoughts. But maybe what you could do.........using one of their ploys............is to maybe print something out that you would like for her to "find". Maybe she will read while you are not there. Don't make it obvious, slip it slightly under something. Let her find it. But I also agree with prisca, this is her choice

Yahoo Clubs - What do you make of this?
by slipnslidemaster inokay, hopefully this won't start a big riot (like the last time)...here's the deal, my cousin (now, please keep in mind, she is not a witness) had a dinner party at her house last sunday.
she invited 10 of her closest friends, with one catch, every person invited had to bring one person w/them.
the person could be male or female and they had to be someone who my cousin (the host) did not know.

I read from this club daily and what I see is that the one poster wants very badly to do something but as usual per mind control she feels she cannot do anything without pre approval from SOMEONE in the organization. It appears she wants to avoid asking the elders, which is fine, but she wants to have some sort of "go ahead" to ease her own conscience.
My husband and I have had similar discussions regarding this type of attitude and it struck me. I wondered why it hadn't occurred to me before, but this happens (the fear of getting out of control) because:
Sex is talked about all the time as being bad (unmarrieds, anything but the missionary style, oral sex, ...etc.) but then they go on to tell how wonderful it can be between married people. When you are brought before the elders for some impropriety they have to know every DETAIL like it is a turn on for them. With my brother and his girlfriend they asked if they held hands. Yes. Did he get a "woody"? (Their words!) It seems like an obsession with these people and they are like the neighborhood bully who eats ice cream in front of the fat kid (sorry for the terminology, just for demonstration purposes) on the block and makes all sorts of rude and crude noises, rolls his eyes in sheer delight, and says "Don't you wish you could have some of this?"
How would things be if they actually did what "worldly" people do and spend quality time with them and talk frankly about these things so it doesn't seem like life hangs in the balance over this. I read a study once years ago on the rates of sexual promiscuity among different groups of people and it showed that the largest proportion of children that are promiscuous are from strict religious families
