I love who I am now. I smile and actually mean it. I am not fearful that I will be killed when the end comes.I don't judge anyone ANY MORE. I probably was the biggest homophobic before, now I have a few gay friends. They are not the horrible people I was taught that they were. One of the stylists where I get my hair cut is openly gay, and a few weeks ago he had a magazine that had like the top 50 cutest guys in our state. We were both picking out our "favorites" from the pictures . . . it really was funny doing that with a guy. He really is a sweet guy. I figure what two people do behind closed doors (as long as it's not hurting anyone else) is their business.

Are YOU Basically The Same Person Now As When You Were A Witness?
by minimus inthey say "the truth" changes people from nasty, wicked people to meek, honest hearted "ones".
now that you're out of "the truth", are you back to your old ways??
did "the truth" ever really change you??

"It's ok Officer, I'm one of Jehovah's Witnesses"
by Highlander inearlier today i was thinking back to some of my old friends i had while living in minnesota, and attending the pine city congregation.
my j-dub friends were like many non-j-dub .
teenage boys and would drive fast, drink beer or any other kinds of trouble you can think of.

A dub once told me that there isn't a crime that hasn't been commited by at JW. They are not above the law - they break them like everyone else.

Were You Ever a Victim of Jealousy?
by compound complex indear friends,.
despite our noble intentions and the hope that we'll behave ourselves, we are downright human.
i just saw beaches again last night (bought the used tape for four bucks) and was reminded how that evil, green-eyed monster can destroy the best of relationships.

Like Lady Lee my husband was VERY jealous and controlling.
I had to have a cell phone and a pager . .. if he couldn't reach me on one, he would try the other. I had to bring home receipts for anything I did without him - to prove that I was where I said I was going to be. He put a tracking device on my van, and then would download the information from it when I was not around or in bed. He also put key stroke recording software on my home computer. He worked at a card dealership and could drive any car he wanted too, so he would follow me around in cars that I would not recognize. He would tell me what I could wear and who I could talk to and be friends with. The man was completely nuts - and then he wondered why I wanted to leave him???
When I was still in dub land I was good friends with a couple who were well off financially. Some of the sisters would talk bad about them and it really only was because they were jealous. I am not a jealous type of person. I am always happy when something good happens to my friends.

Within a blink of an eye....
by delilah inthursday evening, i came across a terrible accident, involving two cars.
there were two firetrucks, a first response truck, an ambulance, and about a dozen police cruisers.
there was glass all over the place, and you could smell the strong odour of an electrical fire.

These stories are so sad.
When my husband goes out with his friends I always tell him if he has too much to drink to call me and I will be on my way to pick him up with no argument then, or ever. He has called me once to pick him up. I will gladly get up at 2:30 a.m. and go get him instead of getting a call telling me he died or worse, killed someone else.

for some reason it feels extra special this year.
perhaps because after waffling for years with the witnesses i was finally able to let go this summer after finding this site.. so when are you putting up your christmas tree?.

I put mine up on Friday . .my 4 year old helped me. She was so cute . .hanging all the ornaments on the bottom (or as far up as she could reach).
I went to Lowe's and purchased some real pine garland and put that up around my porch and then put white lights around it.

How soon, is too soon, to remarry after your spouse dies.
by free2beme inhas done so for years, and because of this, i know this elder a little too.
not that we are close friends now, but when we were witnesses in the 1990's, we were friends with him and his wife.
they had three children, all fully grown now, and had been married about thirty years.

That seems a bit fast for me . .but I guess unless we are in their shoes we don't know.
A sister from a neighboring town was murdered for her unborn baby a few years ago - she literally had the baby cut from her body after she was shot in the head. Her murderer ended up killing herself when the cops came to her door to arrest her. It was one of those stories where a woman claims she is pregnant and is not, and then searches out a pregnant woman to steal her unborn baby.
Anyways the baby ended up ok and was not harmed. The husband (a Witness) was remarried to a friend of the family within about 6 months. The only thing I can think is that he was lonely and probably needed help with the baby.

Impulsive buyer....What was I thinking?~?

I went out Christmas shopping last Sunday for my son and I bought some 500 thread count sheets for me that were on sale (plus I had a 20% off coupon that I used). I hadn't planned on buying them but they were such a good deal . . .

Witness mother's and jealousy towards their daughters...
by kittyeatzjdubs inladies, growing up, did you ever feel that your mother resented or was jealous of you?
whenever i would get a compliment from someone, especially males, she would always find someway to turn right around and insult me in front of everyone.
we were at dinner one time with the co and he told me that i was a very beautiful young lady.

I was a "late bloomer" development wise and my mom would frequently make fun of me in front of my older sisters and other women in the congregation. I could never understand why she wanted to make me cry. I know I would never do that to my kids. I still recall her ridicule like it was yesterday!
