  The Merde Has Hit The Fan!!

  so i just got off the phone with my mom.

  ahhhh!!

  after almost two years of respecting each other's differences, she decided to bring up some story about catholic sex abuse that she read.

  I know I keep saying this but ... thank god for my mom!!!! She has never said that it is disgruntled JWs or others trying to dis the WTBTS. Her belief is "where there is smoke there is fire".

  Also, when the sexual abuse was brought up in conv. w/ an elder and he said that he would follow whatever the WTBTS said to do regardless of the consequences, her response was "well I will do what my conscious tells me to do and I can tell you right now it would tell me to beat the guy w/i an inch of his life, drag his body over to the KH for all to see w/ a sign saying what he did and then I would go to the police and say - go ahead and arrest me because all I did was defend my girls."

  People see what they want to see. It is like the people who just chuckle over the whole 'you know Father Feely' he found himself another young alter boy. JWs do the same. Eventually their house of cards will come falling down around them.

  Oh gods, what have I done?

  i mentioned here a bit over a week ago that i met a woman that had rather knocked my socks off - http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/111807/1.ashx.

  well, we went out on an actual date last friday.

  we had problems getting in contact with each other before then until finally i just asked her out on fri. she said absolutely "yes!

  I agree w/ Elsewhere.

  It is one thing for a chick to chat up a guy, but another to go to dinner and sing a song all the while knowing you got one at home. Just be careful. Her heart may not be as in it as yours.

  The thing that concerns me is .... is she the type of woman that is generally unhappy with any man, but stays until the next one comes along. There are women out there like that. They flit and float from guy to guy. Maybe no one can make her happy. Again, just be careful.

  Why is it always the Husband?

  when it comes to talks and study articles about marriage, why is the emphasis always put on the husband about making the marriage work, over emphasis on husbands loving their wife?

  women are just as equally responsible for what happens in marriages, yet the wtbs devotes 3/4 of an article on what husbands should be doing and 1/4 on wives, and thats only to be submissive and be respectful, how sad!

  Like an earlier post said, how many times has a JW chick been told that if she is a better more capable wife, her husband would not treat her the way he does. Sorry, but that is language of abuse. You were asking to be hit, you brought it on yourself. If only you were better, blah, blah, blah.

  Just because someone has an extra appendage does not make them smarter then me. And if the JW guys are too insecure to handle a smart women, they they should stay single or alternatively make it a male only membership. I never wanted to lead the congo and I never wanted to stand in front of the congo and give a talk. But I am sorry, if you are a male and you are an idiot, I don't care who you are, I am going to call you out.

  But don't you think that each person takes out of life different experiences.

  I don't think my life was bad. Being raised in the religion helped me in a lot of ways. I am dyslexic (all of them dyscalcula; dysgraphia, etc.) and having to read all the time, give talks, speak in public, read aloud, helped me in so many ways. If I was not forced to do it, would I have. Probably not. I floundered thru the school system until my mother put up a stink and I got tested (twice because the first test failed to show anything and my mom forced the school to take a second test). I am fully compensated now and have gone on to further education and to work in a field that can be some what challenging.

  I made and continue to have a ton of friends that were/are JWs. I traveled the world and met tons of people, most of which I am still friends with today and do still travel with.

  Because of having an LD and being a different religion, I learned courage at an early age. I learned to speak up for myself. I learned loyalty and honesty. Yes, my mother had/has a lot to do with this as well. But I think the fact that she was raised in the religion and went through what she went thru, helped clear a path for me.

  Not everyone's experience in the religion was bad. I am not trying to minimize what anyone went thru. But I think sometimes people here minimize the good experiences that people share. Just the same as it would be shameful for anyone to downplay a person's painful history, people here should respect someone who did not have to walk thru hell to reach where they are at. Not everyone has to shake the hand of the devil to know evilness.

  Stilla, I think you should be commened to finding your own path and sticking to it. Good on ya'.

  When your door bell rings, do you still think it might be the elders?

  i live in an apartment building, and i just heard the door bells ringing here and there, which automatically made me think that it could be the jw's.... when someone is at the door here, knocking or ringing, i'm always fearful that it will be them....

  I live in a secured building, you have to get buzzed in first by the security guard, go to the main building, the visitor has to sign in, the security guard then calls to my unit and then they have to leave the main building and walk over to my building and get buzzed in again. Let me tell you, it is a pain when friends come over, but it great for the rest of the time. I NEVER get bothered by anyone at all when I am home.

  Mkr - I think that was the one peeps were talk'n about. It got passed around the internet a lot a couple of years ago. And was a gag gift for bachlorette parties.

  What was your Favourite/Worse time and day to go in the Field Service?

  i never went out in the field service on the week-ends.

  i did't want to meet too many people afterall !!!.

  so, i went out in the field service only during the week, and only in the morning, knowing that not many would answer, because people were either at school, or at work.

  here's a question and forgive me if someone's already touched on this subject, but...

  why don't jws, like the catholics & christians, have their own private schools where they can exercise their "no saluting flags, no celebrations, no holidays ( they can go to school all year long!!!!

  imagine what the curriculum would be like.

  At one time JW schools were popping up. I remember a few in IL and WI. We had friends who sent their kids there and knew some of the teachers. They did not last long though. I think they were only in place for a couple of years.

  That newspaper article still applies to JW wives. True story - a friend of mine who bought into the whole subjection thing (she said to me once, "why would I want to be in charge, making decisions is hard") said that she could not make the same meal twice in a year, because her husband an elder told her when they go married that was one of his rules. So she had receipe books up the ying yang and would start in one book and work her way thru it and then go to the next. 365 days of different meals. Now that sounds like a "capable wife" if you ask me. Surprisingly enough, this couple is no longer married. I still think she said ... screw this and made meatloaf again prior to the expiration of the 365 days and he chucked her for a newer younger more obedient model. Grounds for divorce ... a wife who does not listen to your rule about not having the same meal twice in a year.

  Hey Joe -

  born and raise a JW (3rd gen). I was a JW until about ten years ago when I faded. I have had family members that have both been df'd and have da'd themselves. Most of my family (small as it is) are still JWs. Yes, there is a 4th gen - my sister's kids.

  The idea of leaving whether by df'ing, da'ing or fading, it is a tough decision. The most important thing is to build up a support group, so that you do not feel alone. I suppose it is like the woman who is leaving an abusive relationship, we tell her to get as much in order a possible and then one day just leave. Try to put your life together as much as possible with support groups and/or friends and then leave. Much luck to you. And welcome to the forum.
