Well, why don't you invite all your family over to your house and exclude her. If your family members do not agree w/ her position then maybe they should say they feel "uncomfortable" with her decisions and cannot in good faith go to her house for dinner. Turn about is fair play in my book. But you know JWs, she will think that she is being persecuted for her faith and will become that much more resolved to "do what is right".

I was a rebel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I slept in on Sats & Sundays. I loved it, until I got bored doing that, so now I get up early on Sat and Sunday and do something constructive with my time. The best part is being able to do what I want with my time. I love it!

Thanks all now I'm leaving
by wozadummy indue to funkyderek i have come to the decision to leave this board.
when i posted on the current gay thread in a way that i thought would stimulate thinking and lighten up the seriosness of the thread and have a laugh, he and others put me down publically labelling me.
so i find it difficult now to continue posting knowing that someone has influenced others into thinking that i'm not worthy of being here because my phrasing and spelling is bad and that i'm apparently a "hyporite".

Steve, FunkyD took a chunk out of me once. It was early on and I was shocked at the personal barbs that were thrown. In the end a wise guy (Ballistic) said to me that FD comes across differently in print then in person .. as he has met him in real time at one of the BBQ's and to take it in stride. B-man mentioned that his feelings had also been hurt over certain discussions and he found that he would rather stay on the lighter side of discussions in order to avoid any hurt feelings either way (as the giver or the taker) so he generally does not engage in the more heated threads.
This is what I found, of the one or two people that we may clash with (and it is only natural that it will happen), that it is not worth the loss of a whole heap of others who emotionally hold us up in times of trial.
Come on, you're an Aussie, you guys have a wicked sense of humor. Those Irish (FunkyD) are caustic and have a dry wit. Chalk it up to difference of opinions and know that you are not the only one FunkyD has put pins to. So maybe we should form a club or something. Or alternatively, we can just stay where we are at and continue in our every day ordinary course of life.

The TRUE source of FDS enlightenment
by gordon d inthis recent article in the watchtower caught my attention.. where could such spiritual enlightenment come from?.
are we most likely in the last days?
without a doubt, the signs point to yes.

Thanks Nat for the info. I was not looking for the date it was created, but the time it was so popular. What I remember it was when I was a kid, which was in the 70's. I will have to see if wiki has a graph to show its rise in use. I don't know that it is so popular today like it was back in my day. I just remember as a kid, everyone had one ... except for JWs because it was demonized, along w/ the little smurfs.

How Jw's will begin to 'accept' blood doctrinally.
by AK - Jeff inonce upon a time, blood in any form was rejected by jw's.
then, over time, they morphed the policies to allow some 'fractions' or blood.
this allowed witnesses to get immunizations, treatments for hemophilia, etc.. in the past few years now, the policy is allowing greater 'definition' of 'fractions' - to the point where even bovine rbc's, altered to be called a 'fraction' now, due to processing the hemoglobin from the cells, for use.

What is interesting is that one of their own mouth pieces Jan Graziani (a registered nurse) and her husband a doc, both of them JWs, do not give this info during their many appearances and lectures. And yes, they give lectures that are permitted by the WTBTS. I think there are many people who actually know about the change in info but are afraid of the backlash and so they stay quiet about it.

When was that written? Because I do think the Magic 8 Ball was used in the 70's, so it might explain the language.

I hate having JW parents.
by reneeisorym ini'll try to make this long story short.. in october ... about 3 days before i left for a trip my mother decided to have my cell phone cut off.
i've had my bill in my mom's name since i was 16 and have always paid it since i was old enough to work.
but .. out of pure spite, she cut off my phone.

Yeah JW parents they're the best! Let's see, my GF got engaged to a great "worldly" guy after her loser JW husband left her in debt after cheating on her and then taking her to the elders (refusing to talk about his affair w/ the chick from work) and complaining that she was not the "capable wife" as set out in proverbs. He filed for divorce and then abandoned the pursuit after he realized he was paying all the money in attys' fees.
Her parents refused to go to the wedding because she was not "scripturally free to remarry" and the fact that she was marring a worldly guy. Weren't these the same people that sat in the car w/ her when her then JW hubby walked hand in hand w/ his GF from work into GF's apt and spent the night. Ahh, but there was no proof of sex between the two. I am sure they were playing board games and just fell asleep, one on the couch and one in the chair.
Well, all I have to say is that your wedding is YOUR and your fiance's day. Not your parents day. And if they are going to destroy the day by being the typical JW piss ants that they are, DON'T INVITE THEM. You have control over this, not them. I know you want your family there. That is understandable, but in the end, is it worth the emotional turmoil. You want people there who will be happy for you, not make your life a living hell.
And it is not just JWs who have this bad attitude. I have a number of friends that were raised Mormon and Jewish. When they married outside of their faith, their parents did not go to their weddings. What can I say, people are nuts. And parents need to move on with their lives and let their children grow up and live their own life.

Well I cannot open the link to listen to it. But I am taking that as a blessing from the gods. They are preventing my ears from bleeding.
Celine creeps me out a bit and as for George Benson, well what can I say other then I have always felt something was off w/ that guy. It is as if the crazies are getting together. Now all we need is the South Park character Satan to join forces with them and then the axis of evil will be complete.

My personal experience w/ social services are that unless there is something horrible happening (clear cut evidence of sexual and/or physical abuse) they will do nothing. Yes they will go and do a wellness check, but that is it. In some cases, this can cause more harm, because once SS leaves the mental abuse picks up even more. Just be careful because sometimes the help we think we are extending, in the end cause more problems for the minors. It is a tough spot to be in. Regardless of what you decide to do, good luck to you.
