  To all Active JW's on the board

  as you are all aware i am new to the board, this is my third topic post.

  since i have come online and expressed some concerns regarding docturnal issues, i have been pm'd by several active jw's on the board pretending to have concerns also but then sending pm's to "trust in the congregation and jevovah", "talk to the elders about your concerns" and "stick close to the congregation".

  i would like to make this known loud and clear -

  I think Justitia's approach is commendable.

  You can be a part of something but it is not a part of you. We already know the position that the society would take on the issue, but we are not the society. So if people chose to believe bits and pieces of what they are taught, regardless of the religion, good for them for not towing the party line they have a brain and they are using it. Truthfully, there are few people who question their religion, they just go along with it even if they don't not buy into it. I can give you examples of many Catholics that I know that do not feel that gays are evil or that the pope is infalable, but they are still Catholic. Why can't active JWs be the same?

  STALKED II

  as i was studying last night for organic chem the phone rang around 10:30 p.m. eastern as i predicted it would.

  when i answered it was my mom on the other end, again as i predicted.

  afterall, it was tuesday night, the night of theorcratic minstry school and the service meeting and of course i knew the elders were going to speak to my mom about the little incident out in the shaws parking lot.

  I thought publicly reproving someone was outlawed at the Hall? And in the Hall I use to go to family friends of mine whose parents are still active JWs and go to the Hall, have never gotten told off because all three of their kids not go any more. The only thing that they did was wait a while before they appointed the dad an elder. They said it was because they were concerned that he was not in control of his "house". Though all his kids were out of the house. One kid in particular is an open smoker and everyone knows it because he lives across the street from the Hall and they see him outside some times with a cigarette in his mouth. Which is kind of funny because he says that people that are going into the hall that know him and see him smoking just stare and keep walking with their mouths open in shock. I picture small children's eyes being sheilded by their parents "look away Johnny, otherwise your eyes might bleed". Sorry, I digress. So I am confused as to why they would be pursuing your mother to the extent that they are.

  hi, especially so to the watchtower posers whom i hope are capable of reading this as they gnash their teeth and their eyes go wild with fear.

  the more the watchtower posers say to be quiet, act "delicate," or forget it and the more they try to laugh it off, the more other people become fired up to expose them.

  it was easy to predict that what richie has put on the internet and that has now gone earthwide would occur.

  And most likely any elder who is called as an independent or lay witness will testify "no recollection". So they would probably never get to the stand because during their sworn statement or deposition they would respond "cannot recall" "don't remember" and no prosecution would ever want them as a trial witness. Also, I noted that the reference to the molester appeared to be a cut out that was taped or glued into the book (because the book itself is so old anything new would probably need to be a hand out). That makes it easier for short and long term memory loss on the part of all. But no apologies is right all around.

  What I think they should do is start from the top. It is like the scandals we have seen in the military, the people at the bottom get in trouble, but the people at the top are left untouched. What good does that do anyone? These are still the people who say, well if a pervert has prayed enough and we have a JC and a bolt of lightening does not come down and strike him or us dead, that must mean that everything is okay. He is a member in good standing, now let's let him free out amongst of our children.

  Good for you Airduster. You should be commended for doing your own research. As much as many of us on this board may want to disclaim having an agenda, we all do, that is why we are here. Also, you should never look at something in parts, because that never tells the whole story. You need to read an entire article or an entire book.

  And as someone who studied theology, my suggestion to you is read EVERYTHING you can get your hands on. Not just stuff about JWs but about all religions, their origins, their ultimate paths. It might surprise you to see how JWs are really not that different from other religions out there struggling with their identity.

  As I am sure many people here recognize that it is easy to be misquoted or misunderstood that is why people should review ALL the facts. Ultimately, YOU rise and fall on your own merits. The only thing we can do is support you in whatever decision you decide to make. Good luck in your search for "truth".

  Need marriage help

  I agree w/ candidlynuts (and I laughed pretty hard at the response). Depending on the role playing, bondage can be an act of power or control or it can be giving up power or control. He may not want to role play with you because of your relationship. He very well may be happy with his sex life with you and that is why he may not want to engage in bondage. You may want to look into the subject and see what you can do to take the first step in role playing (that is if you feel comfortable with it). Also, it may just be a fantasy that he has and it is true, some men like the fantasy more then the reality. As the saying goes "some times a spoon is just a spoon". He may be telling you the truth. But the fact that you are having to bring it up on a message board, leads me to believe that you are troubled my several different things. And if your relationship is as you have said it is, you should be able to address the issue with him in a non threatening way.

  hi my name is alex and i was born in the truth and...i'm still in it.......i'm 15 and openly gay well at least at schooland to all my friends some who are also jw's well the reason for posting this is i wanted to knw if there were any other gay people here......if anyone wants to email me its [email protected].

  i want like advice on how i should deal with this cause sometimes i feel this oppression(dont knw if i spelled that right) on being gay and also being a j.w theres this i'm not sure how to explain it....like you knw that when people in your congregation find out the ones you know all ur life are going to hate u cause ur gay............this i guess just makes me feel really sad........ kind of hoping that this made some sorta sence.................... i suck at spelling so if i miss spelled something sorry@_@

  "Surprising" and/or "interesting" which ever word you chose to use. Eventually we will become so homogenized that it will not matter and labels will not exist. But we are not there yet. But let's hope it will be soon. Unfortunately, the puritan society that founded the US is not ready for open mindedness so as to allow a person's choice of sexuality.

  Yeah there is always that fear that the media will get a hold of someone being a JW and publish it. However, the land of Lincoln has been peppered with similar things of late. I worked with a guy whose cousin was a JW in Chicago and she was married to an inactive JW. He killed his wife, child and mother. I think they lived in Chicago on the south or west side, but I am not sure. The guy I worked w/ was still an active JW and he was sad that they kept mentioning the Witnesses. It is the whole "reproach" thing. Hmm, did I spell that work right, it looks wrong.

  I slowly faded over the years. I moved to another town away from the prying eyes of "friends" and family. I just kept moving further and further away. With each move came less visits to the Hall. The policy of don't ask don't tell is my family motto. It works well for us. When I do see my family they spend about 5 mins talking about assemblies, meetings, gossip about people I know and that is it. Then we move on to enjoying our time together. I guess I am lucky considering the other stories that have been posted here. I have known others who have lit torches and stromed the gates, but to no avail. Some of them felt like a weight was off their chest and they were happy with their decision. Others have wished that they had just slowly faded.

  they probably taste terrible, anyway.. .

  i propose that the society extend its disfellowshipping policy, and start formally disfellowshipping "old light" expired dogmas.

  Hmm, don't you think "truth" is relative, so it has to change. It is like saying that medicine has to stay in the medieval times because it was once believed that blood-letting would cure all ills. Truth changes, it is an evolutionary process that we grow into as our knowledge expands. There are only a handful of actualy truths, but truth does not apply to religion or medicine or politics as well as many other subjects because these matters are open to interpretation.
