Or in the alternative, they spend 5 minutes on what the person did in the religion, 5 minutes talking about the wages of sin are death and thus, the person is better off dead and then the rest of the time preaching to everyone in the room. Oh yeah, they admit that they use the time to preach to the wordlys that are in the room. But considering that as a JW you are not allowed to socialize w/ anyone that is not a JW (and that includes family members) they are wasting their breath because everyone there is already brainwashed (or in the alternative, ignore everything after the first 5 minutes of the talking head up on the stage) because a good JW has already shunned everyone that is not a JW.

JWs funerals.......forget about the dead person lets preach!
by new boy ingod forbid you would talk about the person at his funeral............what do most people get after living 70-80 years..........a 5-10 minutes eulogy....................the transition statment is "let me tell you about what fred really believed in".............................45 minutes later.....that way the specker can count his time.. as we know people in the organization are unimportant living or dead.

Or how about the "sister" who does not want a "brother" so she wears a wedding band to every assembly that way any watcher will keep going because the idea of marrying a "brother" made the "sister's" skin crawl. Hmm, that was me and a couple of my friends.

Well if my Bears did not win, I wanted New Orleans to go all the way. Go Bears!!!! I love the fact that we are playing IN. Living in the City there are tons of people who commute into the City from IN, so this should be FUNNNNNNNN! Did I already say GO BEARS!!! If not GO BEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
P.S. Sorry Rex for being a naysayer. But Bud, you gotta pull it together for the game that counts, don't fall apart now. Oh and did I say GO BEARS!!!!!

The Preaching work has ended and now the end will come... have you heard ?
by thasmyquixtar5000 inthis one was too funny... sent to me by my brother an audio tape of a talk stating that the preaching work is now over and that witnesses are in every country in the world, except north korea, somila, and afganistan (excuse my miss spellings) but really this was just too funny so funny i could not even listen to the whole thing with out screaming in laughter.
the brother goes on to say that they will not be preaching in those countries becaues jehovah god will never put his people in danger and allow them to be killed... hello... what about all those that died over no blood, and what about all those in africa rewanda that the brother told to refuse to except an id card sumilar to our ss card telling those poor brothers that it was a form of worship?
i could not believe it but thought it was just tipical of the times, too many of the witnesses are leaving, and the love of the greater number has cooled the hell off... they are grabbing at straws right about now.

Clearly it is making the rounds, cause I have received the audio version by several friends who live oversees. I wonder if this will either 1) wind the JWs up into greater fever or 2) cause people to second guess the WTBTS because once again they are making claims they cannot back up. My guess, when once again things do not come true, the WTBTS will blame the guy who gave the talk and will say he took liberty w/ what they had to say.

Sharing Your new light with your Parents
by pratt1 inevery so often i get to share some of my thooughts about the borg and my new found beliefs with my mom , who is a die hard pioneer for over 20 years.. we actually have had decent conversations about doctrines and interpertations of the scriptures, and she has admitted that at times the borg may have misapplied certain scriptures over the years.. her excuse is that imperfect men sometimes make mistakes and jehovah makes allowances for this.. but what really gets her upset is when i bring up certain aspects of my childhood, that because of her belief in the borg, she made some unwise decisions for not only me be her family.. me getting baptized at 13, her not being fully supportive of higher education, cutting off family members, pushing me into an early marriage when i was clearly not ready, teaching me that all "worldly people', including my father woiuld die at armageddon, these are just a few examples that when we discuss them, she becomes extremely angry and then accuses me of making her out to be a bad mother.. i got me thinking, do you think that many dubs refuse to acknowledge the problems with their religion because it would mean that they made some really bad decsions in their and their families lives.. are they afraid to accept the responsiblity for this because of the guilt they would suffer?.
what are your thoughts?

I did not have a bad childhood, so I cannot use that as an example and I went to college, so again not a point of discussion for us. What I do know is that she was "inappropriate touched" when she was a child. I don't know more about it, but I know it is a source of contention. I have done my best to slowly bring stuff out to her about child abuse and their continued denial and/or down right lying about the whole thing and hiding the perpetrators. Initially she would not discuss it at all, now we can have snippet of convos. Really the problem, at least in her case, is that this is all she knows. If she were to accept it as wrong, then what would she have. As she puts it, she is old, she was raised in the religion and all of her family members and closest friends are JWs. It is the fear of the unknown and being wrong that holds her back.

Of course the R&F buy into this, otherwise, yet another one of the things they have been told is not true.

5th - It took a long time for the JWs to stop coming in my direction. I too am a generational JW. The only thing I can say is, it takes a long time for them to stop trying to "encourage" you to return. What I did was similar to what others did. I gradually stopped going to the hall because work had me so busy. Then, I moved away from the home congo little by little and eventually I moved to the big city and cut off all contact expect for friends who don't care whether I am active or not.
5th - we are a fast food generation and expect a full meal in minutes otherwise we are frustrated. Just like most things that are life changing, they take time. I know it seems hard and long. It will come to you, give yourself time.

Why do you post?
by avidbiblereader ini am not talking about questions or inquirying about what to do with a problem.. when you post what are some of the reasons you give your thoughts on matters?.
for me, i enjoy talking to others who can understand my experience but more importantly for me, i know there are lurkers or people right on the fringes who are sick of all of it.
i try to give a biblical explanation on matters that shows the error of going beyond the things written.

I hope that people who can relate will answer me. Even if they don't, it's very
refreshing to get things out of my system.Same for me.
And, I know this is petty, but there is a poster who signed on around the same time as me and when I see that they are gaining on me w/ posts, I post more. I know, I know, it is petty, but it is the competitive side of me coming out!
