I agree with Yeru. I am not prepared to blame God for what happens. We do have free will to do what we want. If we didn't, what would be the point?

SUV'S Owners Support Terrorists!
by pettygrudger inyep, new campaign ad's on tv basically links the owning of an suv to the need for lots of gas, to that money going to countries that supply that gas, to the terrorists who get funding from those same countries.. so, based on this - what kind of car do you drive?
do you think that we american's have a moral or ethical responsibility to self-reduce our need for oil, and reduce just in general all the "materialistic" things in life to which we feel entitled?.
i drive a geo prizm - 35 mpg - because of our environment (and plus i'm just a cheap ass!

LDH-
Mini Vans such as the Honda are great. They are reliable, and are not noisy, and the largest out there. The Nissan Quest is great too, but not as much room. Stay away from American mini vans, unless you purchase an extended warranty. They have had extensive problems with their transmissions.

What Excuses Did You Make For Being A Lousy JW?
by minimus inwhen the elders or other "mature ones" tried to assist you, they would ask questions like, "what's wrong?
why weren't you at the meeting?
or service?.......what good excuses did you give, when asked these types of questions?

Always Comparing us to Others
by JH inthe bible says that we shouldn't compare ourselves with other people either physically or spiritually.
some would produce 5 to 1, and others 2 to 1. .
but why is it that the elders always tried to compare us to other witnesses?
-

They were always comparing us to the good examples displayed on stage. We were never good enough. They would always quote a scripture and and tell us that even if we were pioneering, and all the other stuff, we still might not make it in the new order.

Being stalked?
by Ghosthunter inafter calming down my two rowdy dogs, i kindly, but firmly, explained to these ladies that i had been df'd for almost 20 years and had no interest in talking to them.
they both smiled, invited me to the local kh and left very quickly.
the next week, a different car drove up in my driveway and two older men got out and i knew immediately that they were elders.

Welcome to the board!
Being out for 20 years and then they come calling is a bit strange. But many df'd people do believe that the WTS is the truth, and though they may have been df'd awhile ago, some may be persuaded to come back.
I think it is probably easier to bring back ones from being df'd than going out and getting new recruits.

I would rather have my family safe in a larger car than worry about how much gas I was using. I have never thought of using gas as a way to help terrorists.

If You Weren't A Witness, What Would You Be Today?
by minimus inmany of us are or were witnesses because we were born into the religion.
others became witnesses because they really thought it was the truth.
so many wish that they never had a jehovah's witness come to their door or their parents' door.

I don't think I would have gone to church much at all, and probably still would not. My personality is what it is regardless of how I grew up, so I feel that though I would not have gone to a church, I still would have the basic values that I have now.
Ultimately, I probably would pick some sort of non-denominational church to go to on occasion.

I never did hear about a ban on levi's. Sure as hell never heard about those that wear them being gay. Oh, my, the things they will come up with. Still like hearing about these crazy ideas they had back then.

Hard work does pay off in the end :)
by WildHorses ini was just sitting here going over my finances and, if murphy's law doesn't come into play.. when i first started this cleaning service, i thought i would never get it built up, and a few times thought i would end up losing my home.
my mom, has on a few occasions, asked me to move to mn to live with her, because she knew my situation.
however, i was determined that i was going to make it on my own.

Jessika-
Feel free to e-mail me if you wish. I have been through so much legal crap regarding custody it is not funny. Over 20,000 in legal fees just this last year.
From what I understand, grandparents have absolutely no jurisdiction over grandkids. If you do not want to give visitation, you do not have to. Period. I know that for a fact where I live.
Other than the pain of having to deal with her, I don't think you have too much to worry about.
