I don't know what the big deal is. Not like it really is going to adversly affect any one of us personally.

Rx My First Hate Mail today. I think I upset sum1
by xjw_b12 ini received an angry email this afternoon, from someone who took exception to my / our stand on leaving the org, and suggested the current publicity re the child abuse, was overblown and exaggerated.. this person could only have taken my email address from this board.. i have a couple of questions for the more seasoned posters here.. 1. has anyone else rx a letter from a j.a.
on a verizon mail service discussing what i mentioned above?
i am trying to determine whether ja was spamming, or am i the only lucky one?.

It is too bad that someone has to act so hateful. Hey, if they want to remain a witness, then go for it. Doesn't mean they have to act unchristian in the process. If I had gotten the e-mail, I don't know what I would do. Depending on the attitude of the original e-mail, it probably how I would respond. I would like to think I would pity the person.
I would imagine though that it is some putz on the other end trying to put "time" in on their card. Nice easy way to do it, being it requires no door to door.

How much money is rich?
by freedom96 ini was just reading a posting blasting president bush for being rich, and therefore not looking out for the average american.
that is another issue, not for this thread.. my question is this: what do you consider rich?
how much money?

I was just reading a posting blasting President Bush for being rich, and therefore not looking out for the average American. That is another issue, not for this thread.
My question is this: What do you consider rich? How much money? $50,000 a year? $100,000 a year? Maybe $500,000 or more? What actually consitutes a rich person in your mind?
I found as I rose in income levels, that what I once considered rich, is really not a whole lot once you get there. Personally, I have friends that make $20,000 a year, and others who make multiple millions a year, and I judge them the same. My point is that I am not judging a person if they are good or bad depending on how much money they make. I look at their charactor. I personally think those with a net worth of several million I could count as rich. Wealthy, even more net worth.
But those in the $80,000 to $150,000 I just don't really consider rich. That is just me. What do you think?

It might be interesting to note that George Bush has not always been "rich." He sold his portion of a ball team, and made most of his money from that. He is not nearly as wealthy as some are assuming.
As far as his tax break, the majority of it DOES in fact help the middle class. If you have a average police officer for example, and his wife is a school teacher, would you consider them rich?? Their income level is what is affected by the tax break. It is not geared just for the Bill Gates etc.

Families torn apart by Religion
by JH indo you know of any other religions that tear families apart like the j.w's?
jesus said that families would be torn apart because of his name.
does this make them the true religion because they are tearing families apart, like jesus said they would?

The families of witnesses are destroyed because of a false religion. Nothing to do with what Jesus said.

I wonder if the book will have a reverse effect. What if many witnesses after seeing it put down in simple words of what to do and not to do, will realize what a big crock it all is.

How Did You Feel Witnessing For The Last Time?
by SpannerintheWorks in.
whenever i have conversed with one of jehovah's witnesses, i feel that they are 100% convinced that the wbts is "right".. on this forum, we have many people who were once one of jehovah's witnesses, but now totally reject it.. how did you feel witnessing to people whilst you no longer believed in it, or knew you were about to leave?.

Who are the best vocalists?
by heathen inrecently the rock and roll world declared that robert plant is the all time greatest vocalist .
i think i agree with this but i also think guys like elvis and paul mcartney diserve a place in that catagory .
who else do you think would qualify for mention here?
-

I don't think Robert Plant is the best of all time. He is ok, but in my humble opinion nothing all that great.
Jeff Tates from Queensryche has an incredible voice, and has been talked about a lot. Paul McCartney has always been good, as of course others.
Female, I think Sheena Easton has a great voice. Faith Hill is very good too.
Elvis of course, but that has a lot to do too with having a unique voice. Others may have sung better, but when you put his voice and charisma together, he was great.

What IS Gods name anyway?
by NikL ini am sure this topic has been brought up many times here but i don't always have the oppertunity to read all the posts so i am going to raise it again.. i went to the meeting the other day with my wife and this came up in the talk.
the speaker saying how improtant it was to have the right bible to get the most out of bible reading.
the right bible being the nwt of course because it uses the divine name which we all know is jehovah...or yahweh.

We can go on forever wondering how to pronounce his name, spellings, etc. It is no secret in many religions that the modern day pronouniation of His name is Jehovah, and there have been a few variations.
The problem I have is this. The WTS uses it too much. Number one, could it be disrespectful? On earth here we have titles and such for people in positions of authority. You would never go to a judge and call him by his first name. Or even last. Your Honor, etc, is what is acceptable. How are we supposed to justify calling the Supreme Being by his first name?
I think too, that the witnesses use it so much, it totally takes away from the meaning, its worth.
I just think it is disrespectful.

No charity programs for witnesses
by freedom96 ini remember witnesses in no way partaking in charitible organizations, helping out etc.
not only would they not help with other ones, but in reality there is no form of charity work at all even for fellow witnesses.
you have older ones who have spent their entire life in the wts, only to find themselves practically on the street later.

You have older ones who have spent their entire life in the WTS, only to find themselves practically on the street later. You have single moms, unable to take care of their family. There are many that are in need right there in the congregation, but the WTS makes no effort. Not one single program. With all the Building Funds, Donations to the World Wide Work, and other money making schemes, you would think the " one and only true loving religion" would have some program for the ones in the hall who truly needed help.
How truly selfish and unloving. I am all for those who can to go out and do the best to provide for their family. But there are certainly cases where the best just isn't good enough, and the WTS with all their money and collecting, will not do a single thing.
But this is supposed to be a wonderful loving arrangement. The only help anyone would get is perhaps a caring, giving person in the hall, independantly.
In reality, the WTS does nothing for no one.
