Sitting through the meetings was agonizing as a kid and adult. I never did quite figure out what to do to pass time. As a kid, I could not even play with a small toy. I had to sit there. All I could do was day dream.

As a kid how did you survive the meetings?
by Parousia inrecently my brother, sister, and i talked for the first time about how we survived the meetings when we were kids.
i loved hearing their stories.. i had a whole imaginary world i went into.
once the songs were over and the talk started, i would focus on the speaker to look like i was listening and then zone out.

Beware of the Warmonger
by JLOB inthere are people that can only function in conflict.
they do thier best work when there is chaos.
some of these leaders accomplish great things for thier nations, some only bring despair.

There has to be information that Bush has that we are not privy to. Do we think that just because we are citizens we are entitled to know everything?
Here is something very serious to consider. The fact is, there are spies already in Iraq. Military, and CIA. Their position could be compromised if leaks were given that show the proof that everyone is wanting that Saddam has aquired weapons of mass destruction.
So is it wise for the everyday citizen to insist on info that could kill one of our men over there right now? How selfish is that?

improper conduct
by zev indoubtless many of us have been to assemblies, and every may the km would come out with an insert about what you were expected to do and how to act.. reviewing the km's over the years , you can see the negative positve "councel".
how to dress, how to act, howt to tip!.
after reading this, doesn't it just want to make you run to attend the next d.c. ?

I actually looked forward to the talk on how to behave at the assembly. I didn't care what was being said, it just was a relief not to have to listen to all the other crap usually talked about at the meeting.

Pioneering- A social event?
by freedom96 ini was never a pioneer, so i don't know.
i am just guessing from the ones i knew, and by their actions.
the posting a little while ago about pioneers who were on welfare made me think of this.. i wonder how many pioneered simply for the social aspect of it, compared to how many really felt it in their heart.. here is an example to think about.

Here is an example to think about. There certainly are missionaries from many different religions who will go to a foreign country to talk about the bible. They will go to a place that clearly is a 3rd world country, because it is in their heart. They will survive sometimes in horrible conditions, maybe even dangerous. No one makes them go, they go because it is really something they want to do.
How many pioneers were pioneers because they really wanted to??
Was it because they were pressured into it? From others in the hall, maybe family members did it? Maybe the elders suggested it? Because it was expected?
OR, was it a social event? Time to hang out with friends, go have that coffee break. And having the added praises for serving Jehovah probably fed the ego some.
Maybe it was an excuse not to have to face the real world. Getting a job, etc. Maybe it was easier going door to door?
Any thoughts?

Though many people have had challenges with Bowen, I do think we should support and encourage anyone that is taking the effort to announce to the world what is really going on. The more we talk, the more the media will listen. The more they find out, the more it will be talked about. The world as we know it needs to know.

Jehovah Doesn't Need Protecting
by simplesally inwhen one studies the bible, one is encouraged to "run to jehovah, for he is a strong tower," jehovah is supposed to let us "roll our burdens" on him, "throw" our burdens on him, ones are told that he will lift us up like eagles, jehovah is salvation.. with all that said, my question is: why did the governing body and elders in the various congregations think that they were protecting jehovah's name by not coming forth with truth on matters of the court.
whenever a jw is defrauded or molested, i would think that jehovah is strong enough to clear his own name.
after all, jw's are told that they can sanctify jehovah's name but only jehovah can vindicate his own name.. aren't they playing god by trying to cover up?

The WTS is trying to save their ass. They alone put themselves into the situation they are in. God can handle himself just fine. If they were the real truth and light, they would have nothing to worry about.
It isn't God they are trying to protect, it is their power and their pathetic little organization that destroys families and faith in God.

Could it ever happen?

Could it ever happen that every time a witness came to a door, they would get blasted?
It always has been, that the person at the door would say they are not interested. Some are nice about it, others mean. Still others will listen, but as we know, the overwhelmingly majority never end up having anything to do with the witnesses.
But now, there are so many reports in the media about the witnesses and their cover ups of pediphiles, etc. Some report about the harsh df'ing policies.
I am wondering, could so many people find out about the crap actually going on with witnesses, that literally when they go to the door, there isn't a simple, not interested, they get blasted? I mean, every time!
Wouldn't that start to get to some of them??
Wouldn't that be glorious?

I woke this morning to the news on my alarm radio, about 15 minutes after this happened. Shocking, to say the least. Prayers go out to the families and all those affected.

I liked C of C and Awakening. Both talk about the human side of things, how people acted, those involved in making the WTS tick.
For me, I have a hard time reading books that talk about only doctrine. It is so confusing, and reminds me of reading some Watchtower article that no one understood.
As far as I am concerned, when I hear how those in powerful positions act behind closed doors, like in the above books, that is what convinced me that it is all crap. God would not have this religion be the only way to salvation.

Do you wish you could like them, but you can't?
by JH indoes there come a time, when you would like to be at peace with the jehovah witnesses, and try to forget what they done to you, but then all of a sudden you remember the way they treated you, and then you start to get angry again at them?
does this happen to you?

I find fault with the organization more than with the people themselves. The rank and file are ultimately responsible for how they treat others, however they are brainwashed, and so I try to allow them some forgiveness.
When you really think about it though, this religion is based on fear and hate, not love.
