While I am not convinced that the Harry Potter series is imbued with Christian morals, I do not believe that the series is evil and should be avoided.

Harry Potter ``imbued with Christian morals''?
by Derrick inmany jehovah's witnesses confused about whether the watchtower society is really the administrative arm of the "faithful and discreet slave class" might breath easier to know that another organization claiming to be god's spokesperson declared at a press conference that they "don't see any problems in the harry potter series.
" associated press (ap) reports the vatican is giving the harry potter series two thumbs up and announced at a vatican press conference "the good vs. evil plot lines of the best-selling books are imbued with christian morals.
" the question in many jw parents minds is whether the governing body's silence on the popularity among children of harry potter indicates they agree with the vatican on its moral assessment of this children's fable?

Dissing the JWs....
by ScoobySnax ini've been inactive for a few years now, and yet, despite all i read, i can't feel as you mostly all do.
i have a lot of happy memories of being "in the truth" (and i know how much some here hate that line) and fond memories of the meetings and assemblies, sure it was much easier to break away and live life like i am now,..... but well, thats just how i feel.
i can understand those that may leave for personal reasons, but not sure i'll ever understand some here who have such a hatred of anything jw related.

The WTS hurts families, destroys them, and works under the disguise of being a loving arrangement. The facts are, that they are otherwise. I would strongly urge you to read Crisis of Conscience, written by a former governing body member. He lets you know what is really going on.

Even MORE Things Eating at MY Mind
by Francois ini like big cars, big boats, big motorcycles, big houses and big campfires.
i believe the money i make belongs to me and my family, not some governmental stooge with a bad comb-over who wants to give it away to crack addicts for squirting out babies.
guns do not make you a killer.

The guy who originally said the post started by Froncois is George Carlin, and I think he makes many good points, and these comments also remind me of the song by the Eagles, "Get Over It."

I have been known at times to be an instigator, so I think this would be fun. However, I don't know if I could stomach being at the hall for an hour.

Another dream of returning to the Kingdom Hall
by LyinEyes inlast nite i had another dream, it has been awhile and since consciencely i don't want to go back to the kh, it is a little disturbing.
i dreamed i went back but went to a different congregation , but i saw many of the same people i grew up with , i threw my last pack of cigs away.
i wondered why so many people were afraid to talk to me, but i was glad to see them.

We have to remember that for some of us, the whole WTS experience was a major part of our life. For me, I grew up as one, and that was all I knew. Many of my childhood memories surround various witness activities, whether it was friends, service, meetings. I would say a good 80% of those memories directly involve something to do with the watchtower. So to have dreams of that past would not be unusual.
The subconcious is very powerful, and during dreams can certainly just be going back to what once, was all we knew.

JWs: how many leave?
by larc inothers have estimated how many leave the organization.
i didn't quite follow their reasoning, so i took a stab at making an estimate.
i am not sure, if my reasoning is the same as has been posted or not, but here goes.

I was going to say that even a net increase of about 34000 witnesses in the US alone is quite large, when figureing out all the crap they put ones through. HAS to be mostly kids in the WTS getting baptized, not new ones.
Anyways, back to your figures, they seem reasonable to me.
Personally, I want to see big drops in the numbers.

The one that did it?
by Gig inwas there a single scripture that finally made perfect sense as you were tempted to leave and allowed you to do so in good conscience?
maybe it was the one that never made sense until you were out?
was there one that seemed to sum it all up after you left?

Two for me. One was the scripture talking about false prophets, and how if what they say does not come true, they are not a real prophet, in fact, it says run from them.
The other, is at the end of the bible, that says something to the effect that whoever changes or adds to the bible, shall have severe consequences.
The WTS has done both. That sums it up for me.
